Leeds July 24, 2023 Share July 24, 2023 (edited) I should have loved this film. I dislike overlong, loud, story- and character-lite blockbusters and this is the antithesis - small, quiet, character, plot (and location) driven, led by actors I love and admire, notably Maggie Smith, Laura Linney, Kathy Bates, Stephen Rea. Sadly, for me it did not deliver. It was just too unengaging, too quiet, and I found it hard to get over Maggie Smith's unfortunate attempt at an Irish accent. As my first cinema outing in many many months, I was very disappointed. Edited July 24, 2023 by Leeds Came out bolded for some reason Link to comment
StatisticalOutlier July 25, 2023 Share July 25, 2023 This is the sort of movie I'd go see if it's in the vicinity, but the closest theater was an hour away so I did some vetting to see if I wanted to make the trek. Metacritic's score of 51 caused me to actually read the blurbs, and even a couple of the full reviews to be sure, and I decided to pass. https://www.metacritic.com/movie/the-miracle-club/critic-reviews Link to comment
