Snazzy Daisy April 28, 2023 Share April 28, 2023 (edited) It doesn't take long for Candy and Allan to break their own rules. As times go by, their pillow talks are getting cozier but one-sided. We know more about Betty than Pat. When Allan starts talking about ending their affair, Candy goes ballistic. It's so pathetic of her to manipulate Allan to change his mind. Her saying OK to babysit the Gores' kids seems calculated to a certain extent. Betty is humanized through Lily Rabe's layered performance. She had an affair to emotionally guilt Allan for being away too much (allegedly), lashing out at the new pastor and she reaches a new low after Allan sexually rejects her. I like the parallel between Allan/Betty working on their marriage and Candy dancing expressively with no Pat in sight. Angrily grinding meat in the kitchen is a strong foreshadowing!
