Just got around to watching the first episode of this season:

And the clothing anachronisms began right off the bat. Pretty sure those shiny, skinny pants Mayme had on were not a look back in the 60s. Back then the pants would've been roomier and/or shorter unless maybe the wearer was a dancer.

Still surprised Whoopi is on this show.

Doesn't crushing people in cars leave their DNA all over the interior? Seems risky to me unless the car is then set on fire, an act which would have a huge danger of explosion.

That Harlem banker guy getting all high and mighty with Bumpy. Hey, you lay down with drug-dealing dogs, you're likely to get drugged-up fleas.

Barry Goldwater was out there but I doubt he would've been a MAGA. Even though the phrase was used in his campaign it wasn't an overarching theme. I think that was an interesting choice of video clip this show used to try to draw a subtle parallel to contemporary events.

Stella's mother put a hit on her own daughter? Yikes.

So far I'm unimpressed with the new guy playing Malcolm X. Hopefully he'll grow more comfortable in the role because right now he seems kind of stiff to me.

Wait, did Adam Clayton Powell basically suggest to Bumpy that he steal the bank's money since it was federally insured?

I love Stella. She is 100% an adherent of the "fuck around and find out" mentality. Her mama's gonna have to send a battalion to take Stella out the next time.
