zenithwit July 22, 2022 Author Share July 22, 2022 Anyone watching this show? I've watched the first couple episodes and so far it's been a decent background show. But I don't like how the host seems to push couples into kinks that are way out of their comfort zones. She seems to do this shock and then pull back approach. Her spaces are beautiful but I don't think I would like working with her. That being said, why would you paint all that beautiful exposed brick white?!? Especially for a dungeon? Link to comment
Marian August 2, 2022 Share August 2, 2022 Hahahah the white bricks! Good observation, specially because it was a "rock and roll" style which could have motivated more black but ANYWAYS I'm actually here because im on episode 7... and after watching several couples (even the polyamorous family of 7) Im starting to wonder if these people are REAL.. Because of what you mentioned..of her pushing some kinks, and they being recorded!!! trying some kinks with their partner.. The farm couple was almost like a full dominatrix scene.. so much exposure of intimacy! and they didn't even like it at the end... Hahah I dont know, I could expect one people to be okay.. but so many? Even the "traditionals" ones? Odd, very odd. I wonder if they are all actors Att Marian Link to comment
Passing Strange August 3, 2022 Share August 3, 2022 I watched the first episode and agree it's a background show. I was more interested in the complete rooms than learning about the interests of the couples, so I FFd through most of that. It's great that they're sex positive and open minded but I'll take their word for it; no need for details. Melanie Rose did seem to be going for the shock factor with the toys. If someone seems uncomfortable with an item, maybe respect that and offer something different. I will give her credit for introducing the couples to the BDSM activities as fun things to do rather than pontificating on power exchange relationships. It's just that she did it so.damn.much and even outside the house. It's fine to be comfortable with your interests. It's another thing to display them where people who aren't interested could have to see them. Not sure whether I'll watch more episodes or not. Link to comment
zenithwit August 5, 2022 Author Share August 5, 2022 I'm now 7 episodes in and all of the spaces (while still beautiful) are starting to look the same to me. I think "sexy Vegas" (the term Melanie Rose used for one couple) fits her design aesthetic very well. It makes me wonder how much the redesigns will help or hurt the resale value of the home because a "sexy Vegas" room would definitely stand out in most houses. Maybe for the rooms that are more separated from the rest of the house (basement, shed, etc) it won't make much of a difference. But the master bedrooms and the porch would definitely stand out in a listing. Speaking of the porch/back room with the stripper pole... did she actually black out the windows there or was that just some sort of black cloth/curtain used just for the reveal? The awkwardness and stiffness that most of the couples had actually made me think that they were real couples. They're talking about really intimate stuff in front of a camera which not going to be easy for everyone. Though I wouldn't be surprised if the poly family were all actors. There seemed like a lack of connection in-between everyone. Actually, they seemed to all be connected to the first chick we met so maybe they are all her partners and they kinda played up the "family" aspect for the show? Yeah for someone promoting the types of kinks that require a lot of communication and boundary-setting beforehand, she sure seemed to ignore those very important pre-requisites. It definitely doesn't help with stereotypes around those kinks. I had a ton of respect for the couple who were very explicit that they didn't want any kink stuff, they just wanted a beautiful space.
