Are spoiler tags flakey on iPhone?

So I’m trying to make a post on my iPhone and put some of it in spoiler tags. Yadda yadda yadda yadda yadda yadda yadda  yadda yadda yadda yadda.

Weird it looks like you have to select the spoiler icon first then put your text in the box. On pc you can just highlight the text and click the spoiler icon.
