  1. I've got a lot of t-shirts from back in the day when the husband and I used to go to a lot of concerts and I'd like to make a quilt out of them.  The Higher Powers know I'll never fit into them again, and the mini doesn't care for Echo & The Bunnymen or Oingo Boingo so she doesn't want to wear them.  *heavy sigh* This is more a winter project though, and something I'm going to research fully before I start threading up the sewing machine.

Bring on the dancing horses wherever they may roam!

  2. I'm sure there are people who hate when people say they're "over" something. I don't have a problem when they're talking about something they used to like (e.g. "I'm over Taylor Swift"), it's when they're talking about something nobody ever liked (e.g. "I'm over being lied to") that bugs me. There was a time when you were okay with being lied to?

Yeah, I'm so over being stabbed in the eye with an ice pick.

  3. After watching the past few seasons of PR on Lifetime, I finally went back and re-watched some of the earlier shows from the Bravvo era. The difference is night and day in all aspects.

Is it true that the Lifetime show producers used to be in charge of "The Real World"? If so, that kind of tells the whole story right there.

  4. I dunno, I don't have good feelings about Sandhya but I am even more pissed at the producers (who I am convinced decide all the top and bottom designers and well as winners and losers - not the judges) who came up with the brilliant idea to let them go back to Mood.  Even worse was the throw away line of Tim's saying they could use the non-Mood designers' money.  What?  Maybe they expected a musical chairs scenario where the Mood designers would run around trying to battle each other for the money.  What Draaaama!

I didn't even hear the thing about the money. Guess I wasn't paying attention at that moment. Was she the only one who actively asked for other people's money?

  5. Interesting!  Hernan basically alluded to the same thing so you may be seeing something that the other designers saw.  And I'm starting to see what you're talking about - like when she basically flipped Hernan off and told him in a very strong tone not to talk to her again like that - personally, I'm fine with that, I'm totally down for a fellow woman not wanting to be called a bitch, even if its a joking reference (personally, I'm totally fine with a gay guy calling me a bitch, but thats just me).  But the way she did it seemed so out of line with this the either the persona that production is giving her or she has been putting out there.  I'm not sure if I should feel its subterfuge, or just the iron fist in the velvet glove.

All of it might just be producer manipulation. With somebody like Anya it was the plucky pretty underdog who doesn't know how to sew yet wins in the end. I don't what know story they want to tell with Sandyha. Do they want me to like her or not to like her. With each show I seem to be leaning to the dark side on that question.

  6. I'm on the fence about Sandhaya, especially after the "talk" with Tim.  I'm curious though, what makes you think she is a phony?

The other designers don't seem to care for her very much, so maybe you're seeing something that others have been missing.

I am cool with the money thing, I think everyone was surprised with how fast she went into action to collect the money (Tim was like "how much did you just spend?"), but  as someone else so aptly said "don't hate the player, hate the game"  If they really wanted everyone to be on an equal field, they shouldn't have allowed them to collect extra money at all.

Really, it's just a feeling. Probably more of a personal taste. They always seem to say that this is a competition, so yeah a game. Guess I don't like game-playing of this sort. In my opinion, she comes on like an innocent open type of person but I definitely think the wheels are turning in the background for some kind of advantage. Don't know if the other designers are picking up on this or not. She's definitely a head-scratcher for me.

  7. I don't know why Sandhya rubs me the wrong way she just does. I know the money thing was legal and stuff but I just found it irksome. This is the only reality show I watch so I might be missing out on all the angles. She's like an unlikeable Patricia in my opinion. In short, she a phony.

  8. Regarding "so": I've noticed it, too, and I think it has become a replacement for "um" or "well" or "hm" other syllables ushering in a sentence. Although I notice it, I don't mind it.

I guess it has. It is mostly younger people who are doing this. The evolution of language from one generation to the next. From super to awesome to amazing in one lifetime.

  9. I kind of liked what Amanda did and thought she should have won, Also, I sort of like her. The 90's thing, at least in my mind. But I'm starting to get the feeling this is like Kate Part 2. The redemption angle, again. Don't remember when Kate got knocked out the second time though.

  10. Staples people doing the Shopping Cart dance can get the hell off my screen.

Is that the one in regards to "Back to School"? There was a commercial and everybody is doing a happy dance for a back to school sale. I've been out of high school for about 25 years now and I certainly do not remember doing a dance like that when mid to late August rolled around. This is a very exuberant generation it seems.

  11. I actually don't mind Korina...yet. Maybe because I've seen much worse like Gretchen or Helen or Asha on the Gunn show. It's quite possible that she might become more of a villain. Why does there always have to be a villain? Can't they all get along? I'm an utopian.

  12. Okay so I know it's petty to be annoyed by the way someone talks, but this narrator's vocal fry and the peculiar way she over-pronounces the letter "r" makes me turn the dang channel on her:

So, that's what the "vocal fry" thing sounds like. Kind of interesting I guess. Are adults talking like this now? Hope not.

  13. The southern accent in the promo for whatever that show is, is one of the worst, ranking up there with Carrol O'Connor and Blanche in Golden Girls.

"Southern Fried Homicide". It is a caricature of an accent.

  14. Mrs. Torqy and I watched Devil in the Details. Can't really say whether the show overall was good or bad because I was obsessed by the fact that the crime took place in Tucson, and none of the houses or distant views behind them looked anything like Tucson. The second-unit establishing shots were Tucson, but that was all. It's a pet peeve of mine with this type of show. Criminal Minds did a show last season supposedly set in Glendale, AZ; same thing. Establishing shots were in Glendale, or at least in the metro area, but neighborhood shots were SoCal.

Actually, I started laughing partway into the show because of the anvillicious words that floated onto the screen, such as "Semen Stains" or "Lots of Blood!"

Anyone else find this just a hoot?

Semen stains and lots of blood! What's next? Much killing! Great murder! Very sex!
