Not a book reader, but do they plan to do one book per season? Won't that take forever??

First ep was OK.  The first few of The Expanse were kinda slow too.

I haven't read them either (14 is too many) but one of my friends is a super fan, he says Season 1 is supposed to be book 1, 2 and parts of book 3.

  2. Eh, this one was pretty underwhelming.

    - What's the point of that opening scene? We know Nyneave is alive after episode 2. Is it to portray her as a capable badass? Cause I feel like we already did that too. I don't know, I'm a huge hater of "2 weeks/days/hours earlier" when done in this way. It removes all the stakes. We know how it ends, so the scene is pointless.

    - Also Nyneave is smart enough to hide from a Trolloc, but dumb enough to try and kill an obviously seasoned swordsman in a straight on fight? I mean c'mon what is she? Calm and collected or fiery and impulsive? And I know everyone isn't just one thing and can be both, it just seems stupid that she'd be collected enough to outsmart something that definitely wants to kill her, and then would just impulsively try to kill someone who probably isn't that interested in killing her, and even offered to help her, if she'll help him.

    - Rand and Mat; this was the best part of this episode. The tavern was appropriately gritty, they played to their strengths (Rand is strong, but not that charismatic, Mat is charismatic but not anything else.) Thom Merrilin is great, wonderful integration into the group. Dana was fantastic, did not see that heel turn coming. My only complaint is that there's not a lot of exposition going on. Is the Wheel a deity? It kind of feels like it from the way people talk, but also they all seem aware enough that if it's a deity it doesn't care about them at all and worship would not help them. I'd appreciate a little more exposition on the nature of the wheel, based on the opening credits (where it looks like a loom is being operated) it seems like it's a spinning wheel and not like a wagon wheel.

    - Perrin and Egwene. OH MY GOD. This was so boring. These two (IMO) are easily the least charismatic of the bunch and watching them try to carry a storyline by themselves is just painful to me. Gimme paint drying or grass growing.

    - Liandrin, ok I'm board with this bad ass bitch and her evil Bette Midler vibes. I will say that it is worrying to me that the side characters (I'm assuming they are side characters) like Liandrin, Thom Merillin, the Children of Light Questioner from last episode and the shifty peddler from episode one are all more charismatic than the majority of our "ta'veren" (Thank you subtitles for that spelling, cause yeah I would not have put that apostrophe there.)

Now I really have no idea what's going on.

    - I don't think Jan killed Tim (what's with the note on her door?)

Just to play a little Devil's Advocate here, the note said "I'm Watching You"

The words "I'm Watching You" don't necessarily imply that the murderer is the note's author. Jan could be the murderer and someone else could've put the note there to be like "Hey I know it's you, I'm watching you."

Also, this is probably dumb. But "I'm Watching You" is definitely something Sting would write (Every breath you take, every move you make...)

So the 76ers are trying to get rid of Ben Simmons, but they're asking for utterly absurd trades if any team wants him.

Telling the Warriors they want Wiggins, Wiseman and both first round picks? Telling the Raptors they want three of their starting players and picks? Hilarious. I don't think I'd give up anything of value for Simmons.

Agreed, the Sixers can go kick rocks. If you wanna strip-mine a team for talent, you can keep your broken Ben Simmons thank you very much.

The other just ludicrous rumour is they think they might be able to get Dame out of Portland for Simmons. Yeah I'll eat my hat and yours Darryl Morey if that happens.

So you're saying Spiders is still on the table?

    Probably not.

Radio silence from both teams usually signifies a deal in place or progress. We can probably expect the roller derby team to receive a cash pay-out (maybe as much as 6-8 figures) and the MLB Guardians to acquire the roller derby team's website and social media accounts.

  6. I kinda like the new name.

The new C-logo looks good too, and the word mark logo is pretty great.

That 3-D logo with the winged G's is weird though. Gonna have to go back to the drawing board in a few years.

Whether it's silencing the crowd at MSG, grinning like a hyena at booing, taking a bow after killing the Knicks, doing push-ups on the Philly courtshimmying before hitting a three against the Bucks, this guy's villainous antics are fun as hell to watch.

Now a finals with him vs. CP3 will be amazing. Both are tiny but ferocious point guards.

The other thing is that this season Trae and the Hawks have the ability to become the ultimate Crushers of Dreams.

Round 1 - Knicks are back in the playoffs WITH HOME COURT. Not just bounced, but bounced in 5, at HOME at the WORLD'S MOST FAMOUS ARENA.

Round 2 - Sixers sit atop the East. LeBron is gone from their path. KD is gone from their path, Kawhi may be a problem in the Finals, but not right now. They get past the Hawks and they have a pretty clear shot at the Finals and finally completing the process. EXPOSED by the Hawks to the tune that Ben Simmons is being GIVEN away on Sixers reddit.

Round 3 - Giannis has affirmed his loyalty to Milwaukee and they are ready to prove that he didn't make a mistake but what if he did?! WHAT IF HE DID?!

If the Hawks beat the Bucks and then face the Clippers in the Finals and WIN?! That's the dream crusher superfecta.

Trae Young is my favorite post-season supervillain by far. Tiny, scrawny, unflappable, he gives off serious Peter Baelish vibes and I absolutely am here for it.

48 points today. Seeing him terrorize Giannis who is about twice his size is amazing.

    100%

I don't understand how people can see Trae Young and the Hawks as anything but villains. Just like tonight, they do what bad guys do, go into someone else's house and draw first blood. They ate their bread and salt and reverse Red Wedding'd them.

They say everyone's the hero in their own story, I'm pretty sure even Trae knows he's the villain. But you know, sometimes evil wins, and sometimes that's awesome.

The Clippers really are committed to going down 2-0 before trying to win the series, aren't they?  And looks like Playoff P still has a few kinks to work out.

I wonder if they can do it without Kawhi though. They closed out the Jazz without him to be sure. The Suns feel like a different animal.

  10. What a finish. Just UNREAL.

Can't make it up that PG bricks two free throws and then Ayton slams it down on the in bounds play.

Ben Simmons was very disappointing but honestly, so were Tobias Harris and Matisse Thybulle. All three players need to become way stronger on offense during the playoffs.

I think the issue with Ben was he was playing scared. He's a starting guard, played 35 minutes and attempted only 4 shots. When he passed off on that clear dunk, that was his game and series in a moment and Ben's terrified of that moment.

Harris didn't play great, but at least he was shooting.

Thybulle I don't think should be compared to the starters, but even he took one more shot than Simmons.

  12. YES! EVIL WINS! CAUSE GOOD IS DUMB!

The Hawks won this one like a team though, got a lot of great contributions from players not named Trae Young, until he finally came alive in the 4th.

Eager to see if the Hawks brand of villainy can take on the Bucks.

I only saw OT, which was a steaming pile of crap, aesthetically.

But the right team lost! Couldn't happen to a nicer bunch of entitled jerks.

OT was ugly. But to be fair most of the starters were 50 minutes deep or had fouled out.

  14. Shame it ended on a Durant airball, but still an awesome game.

Can the Bucks get it done this year?

I don't know how the Hawks are now the villains. The real villains is that team that couldn't beat the Grizzlies in the NBA Play-in this season. I also find Trae Young more likable than Steph Curry.

The Hawks have always been the villains. You just didn't notice. Every good villain knows how to make a surprise entrance.

Those other guys most definitely were villains, but they were defeated in 2019 by our heroes... and timely injuries. We need new villains this season. I'm sure those other guys will be back though, a villain always comes back.

I also find Trae Young very likable, but likability does not necessarily detract from villainy.

I totally thought about you while yelling at the game during the first 3 quarters. I get to attend game 6 and I'm so excited. I would love if Hawks win 6 but I think it will go to 7.

It'll probably go to 7. No villain can resist the siren call of a do-or-die battle. But I'll be hoping you get to see a win on Friday. Let's Go Hawks!

  16. The Empire Strikes Back! A wonderful performance by the Villainous Hawks.

Gave the 76ers just enough hope for Embiid and Simmons to both flub potential game winning layups.

Just a masterclass in villainy. Gotta let the heroes defeat themselves.

If the Clippers with all their aspirations for a championship lose to Dallas for the second year in a row, this year in the first round instead of the second, do you think they run it back or try to trade PG for whatever good package they can get?

They beat the Mavs last year, they lost to the Nuggets.

But both years they have STRUGGLED in the first round. It's not a good sign for a team with Championship aspirations to be going 6 and 7 games in round 1.

I really want the Clippers to lose since they dumped games to play Dallas. But Dallas has to be more than Luka and they are not there yet.

    Luka's cooking in the first.

I think Luka Magic might take the Mavs past the Clips, but I agree I don't think they have the horses to win the West.

That 4th quarter had me on edge. They almost blew a 17 point lead.

Sometimes, when you're the villain you gotta let the heroes think they have a chance, before you crush their dreams with the dagger!

  20. Ok I freaking love the Hawks. They're trying so hard to be the villains of the East and I'm all about it. All the shushing is just amazing, thought it was just gonna be Trae trying to antagonize the opposition but now Bogdanovic getting into it too.

My Raptors aren't in this postseason so I'm jumping right on the Hawks bandwagon.

Portland?  Meh.  Dame's contract situation is unknown to me, but the league is not built for him to win out throughout the postseason in his current spot.  He might do enough to get into the HOF, but if he wants to get crowned, he'll need a different scene.  Not sure anyone wants to build a super team in Oregon, but that's just my opinion

Dame is a free agent in 2025. But it's the NBA, the players have so much power. If he wants out of Portland, he'll get out. It might take a little work from his agent, but he'll get out.

Anthony Davis is playing tonight but the Lakers are still down 18 in the first quarter. Fingers crossed that the Lakers get smoked.

    Booker's going OFF.

    22 points in the 1st.

Looks like he wants to end that Lakers season tonight.
