I am not an Anna fan, but, maybe in her head the world is very scary and unknown to her.  How would she even go about breaking into the mainstream world?  With no skills and 7 children facing a world that has been pushed as unsafe and ungodly.  It is like planting one of us down in a foreign country.  Even if we had money it would all still feel foreign, strange, scary.  She would not know who to trust.  We all say "come with us and we will guide you" but, she doesn't know us, trust us, I am guessing a lot of us would feel the same way in X country and strangers saying "I will help you".  Would we let them?  I would say she got herself into this predicament, but, I think she was groomed for it and convinced she wanted it.  It is a sad and confusing situation.  And, again, I am not her fan and not really defending her, because she does have those children to raise, but, am guessing she just doesn't have enough confidence, skill and resilience (and maybe desire) to break away.  Maybe not yet.

I'd agree with this, but a few of her siblings and at least one of them has reached out and offered to help her navigate life away from FF.  Anna is a sick moron.  I feel nothing but rage toward her.  She has the tools to leave,  but she won't.  she WANTS this life for her kids.  Eff her.

  2. I rewatched some episodes.  I still hate season two, and most of the hate was complete disregard for the book...BUT I realized that I HATE Edwina in the series, but loved her in the book.  In the series she acts like a dimwit.  Kate in the series is PERFECTION, but Edwina grates on my every last nerve.  I think its the actress, but she was so dippy.

I love Eloise's story (the 5th book) but I've lost all hope.  Eloise was insufferable ALL of this season.  She's just SO extra.  I can't stand her attitude.  I still like Pen, but I started to dislike her also in this season.  WHERE WAS COLIN?!?  This was not Colin.

Benedict was a shining light in the boring drama that was this season.  They better not eff up his season.  Kate and Anthony were beautiful and perfect, but it dragged on FAR too long.  Getting 10 minutes of happiness was unconscionable.

    I love this idea.

  4. I'm upset because I LOVED book 2, and I feel like they bastardized it.

    Mr. Bagwell.  :(

They could have easilly made kate/anthony drama without absolutely killing kate/edwina.  I was sorrowful.  We got 10 minutes (literally) of Kate and Anthony.  i hated it.  I guess it's an unpopular opinion.

Yup. They're human. Not much, or any, difference in raising different sexes. Don't get me wrong, I wanted at least one of each, but buying a truck or a tutu is just that. Energy wise, attitudes, interests, etc are as diverse as the kid, but not unique to male or female.

Agree.  In fact my daughters are FAR messier and rowdier than my sons.

I’m very curious about this because JB & M didn’t have a problem throwing the “sins of the father” often. They have always felt superior to everyone else. Now that their monster felon is drowning in sins, will they be quick to note their 7 grandchildren are damaged goods?

Tabitha Paine married the rapist and they seem to disappear. I’d like to know if they had children, and if they are still together.

Well...It wasn't really rape because the woman was asking for it by not having proper clothing on.   Remember, there is no such thing as rape because men can't control themselves if they can see an ankle or a collar bone.

My guess is she probably has them on AR Kids, which is through Medicaid. I don't know a ton about it since I don't have children, but it is very popular here and provides coverage for a lot of kids who wouldn't get any otherwise. I know lots of families with AR Kids coverage, and questions about it are popular on local FB groups.

If Austin is self employed medicade is EXTREMELY easy to get.  What paycheck people don't understand is that if you are self employed and make 60k, after write offs (even just standard deduction) your taxes say you make about 40K, then if you have a large family the standard poverty rates go pretty high.

My husband is self employed, and it actually pisses me off.  We live in PA, and have 5 teenagers.  He makes about 110K a year.  After write offs and our 7 person family we make enough for low cost CHIP.  It's not medicaid but kind of (There are levels in PA).  We pay $25 a month per child.  There have been low years (where he didn't make as much) when we bounced into Medicaid.  It's acutally extremely frustrating because our doctors may or may not take CHIP and/or medicaid.  We could afford to jump onto our OWN plan, but the health insurance companies force you to go through the system to see what you qualify for, so I always feel like a mooch.

So, for the self employed, it's actually really hard.  You either pay through the teeth for taxes by not taking the write offs...or you take the write offs and your 1040 makes you look destitute and you can't get a loan.

It wouldn't suprise me a bit if he is a schedule C and on medicaid.

  8. I watched the whole thing, and my take away is that I hated every single character, and yet I was interested enough to watch the entire series in three days.  Unlike other comments I've seen, I think Shonda crafted this very well.  I don't think there are any clear heroes in this story, and it is more of a commentary on how classism is alive and well in NYC, and that Anna was accidentally exposing this truth....and how many people SAY they are one thing (liberal NY'ers) and act the opposite.

Anna and all of her friends are just horrible people.I felt deeply only for Val ...but i came away from this series thinking that it was interesting to watch, but the only character I liked was Vivians husband, and the dickhead lawyer's wife.

  9. Watching Ballrooms and Biscotti.  Another "Lorelai is annoying" moment-WHY can't she just tell Emily that she had to shop for Rory's dorm because they had the wrong move in date?  It's SO annoying.  Sure, Emily would've chastized her for being disorganized, but good grief.  Lorelai is always talking about how she and her mother don't communicate well, but it is ALWAYS Lorelai who isn't communicating with Emily.

They eventually left because of how modern the church was becoming, because NIV and the worship service was not entirely old hymns. You know, because Jesus and the deciles definitely sang Old Rugged Cross at the last supper.

Something feels off about this tale.  I have a hard time believing that David can get his van to the neighbors' house, but an ambulance cannot.  Or why David continued to the hospital and did not stop to meet the ambulance.  I used to live in Northeast Ohio, I get what the roads can be like when a storm goes through, but I never heard of EMS not operating due to weather.  If the weather was that bad, then David would not have been able to make it to the hospital nor ferry the rest of the family to the hospital.

edited to add--I also cannot believe the Rods would spend this much time helping their neighbor.  The Rods are people who demand aid from their neighbors, not give it away freely.

I live in extreme NW PA beside extreme NE OH.  We have over 40" on the ground.  The last storm dumped about a foot.  Our schools didn't cancel.  I call bullsh*t on this story.  We NEVER slow down around here.  We suffer extreme Lake effect snow thanks to living on the Lake Erie shore.  EMS doesn't quit.

I would have liked to have seen Rory get rejected from Harvard and deal with that disappointment (and Lorelai as well—she would have been in the awkward situation of having to pretend the Harvard Dream hadn't been as important to her as it clearly was), while getting accepted to Yale and having the shadow of being a (highly-qualified) legacy admission hang over it a bit.

YES.  I've always said that it wou;d have been nice for RORY to not get into Harvard, and for PARIS to get in, but later decide that she (Paris) doesn't want to do what her parents expect her to do and ends up at Yale with Rory..

Paris deserved better, and you'll never convince me that Rory got valedictorian over Paris.  Major BS there.  My biggest season 3 wish list was that *Rory would have been rejected from Harvard and Yale was the runner up.  *Rory would realize that journalism wasn't for a meek thing like her, and that in the age of the internet, probably a dying art form.  *Realize from her PSAT scores that perhaps she should go into a stem field, like medical research.  *Paris is Valedictorian.

The series is excellent because of Stars Hollow.  The story of Rory is just kind of meh.  They didn't write about who Rory really was.

I liked the idea of The Road Trip to Harvard, but the execution was a bit weird. I don't know how Rory wasn't completely embarrassed by Lorelai's bluffing about being a student and the high pitched airhead voice she put on. The whole point of the Harvard dream was based around what a prestigious and academically rigorous school it was, and there was Lorelai acting like it was some sort of party school. Also, Lorelai, calm down, you were mistaken for a law student, not an undergraduate.

I never took that as Lorelai wanting to fit in and I agree with @peacheslatour that those people weren't upper class, anyway. I always took it as Lorelai not wanting to admit she ran an Inn so that she wouldn't get sucked into a conversation with them or LaDawn (especially not LaDawn) about it.

    This episode makes me crazy.
    1.  Can we just have a LITTLE backstory on how she dumped Max?  Like ANYTHING?  Ugh.

    2.  These two act like HORRID immature brats.  Yes, the B&B was ....extra.  Everyone there was nice.  Just say Hi and walk out the door and go to dinner.  That was so absurd.

This episode was probably one of the first episodes where I really disliked both Lorelai and Rory.

But I hate Lorelei’s behavior at dinner so much that the last 20% of the episode is hard to watch.

I love this episode until Lorelai's temper tantrum.  I've watched the first 3/4ths so many times, but I can't finish it.  Secondhand embarassment for a fictional character.

That doesn’t seem to be what the defense has been saying.

He would still get "paychecks" but to be an employee there would be W4's and W2's.  Perhaps in order to dumb down the language for the jury they're treating it as a "paycheck" instead of a commission check, because it really doesn't matter to anyone except the IRS.  From everything I have read the only proof of employment was a check.  I could be wrong, but my husband runs his own brokerage business and is self employed, a little more complicated than gig work *Which is what this sounds like*, but essentially the same thing.  I could be wrong, but I have heard of no evidence of W4s or W2 for the Waller moron.  I could be wrong, I just think it's an important distinction.  It's just another way to run things shady.

I agree that the situation with Anna is not great, but I don't think farming her kids out like a litter of puppies to Amy, Jinger, or Jill would help their trauma. Beyond just the fact that I think separating siblings really should be avoided--when my childhood was at its shittiest, I can't even how much worse it would have been if my brother and I had been separated--but I don't think those relatives are necessarily calming waters even if they seem marginally more mainstream.

In the past, Amy and her husband have admitted they have violent arguments, one of which culminated in him throwing her cat. Jinger always seems like she's under a tremendous amount of stress as she wrangles two small children while her lord and master spends his days being a snobby douchebag for the gram. Derick and Jill seem slightly healthier than they were--low bar--but I don't get the impression that Jill still has a high tolerance for stress. I doubt life for the Ms is very happy now, but I'm not really sure relocating to any of those households would necessarily not come with its own significant stress.

And on top of that, two of Josh's victims (Jill and Jinger) may find it retraumatizing to care for his kids, and those kids may also find it additionally upsetting to be placed with people who have appeared almost gleeful about their dad's arrest occurring (Derick and Amy). And I get why they feel that way, but that's really not a cool thing for his kids to have to be subjected to right now.

I do think Anna and her kids would really benefit from therapy, but unfortunately, I doubt that's ever going to happen.

Edit to add: given the apparent estrangement Jim Bob has had with Jill and Amy and the distance Jeremy and Jinger have always lived from Arkansas during their married life, I'm not sure how familiar any of these people would be to the younger M kids, either, which hardly would be a comfort if you were suddenly separated from your mom and siblings.

being neglected and abused myself, I would have rather have been with an adult I knew than farmed out to foster parents who gave me a mattress that they found of the road with a snake crawling out of it, and then forced to attend to their goat farm.  but sure...we hate Amy, Jinger, and Jill.  Kinship has to be something that all parties agree to, so if theyre uncomfortable they say no.

    but ok

I had a sister, and I would have rather been with an adult  I trusted and split up (knowing she was also with a trusted adult) than been placed in foster care.

And still using lots of nauseating Gothard-speak - walking through, season of life, sweet friends. Ugh!

I can't fault her with this.  It's all she knows.  This is the language she was raised in and never had school or even an outside church to give her different phrasing.  I do think that Jinger and Jeremy are having a panic moment realizing that they need to land on their feet.  He better finish that degree because living in CA is an expensive venture.  Hoping they move north to PA with his family to make a life far away from the Dugs.

A few years ago, Nurie and David went on a mission to southern Africa (I can't remember which country) to convert them to the correct Jesus.  While he was gone, Satan was up to his tricks, causing Jilly all kinds of SEVERE problems such as cutting her finger while opening a can of green beans.  Also, right around that time she shared a story about people who sent a microphone into some deep hole and hearing the sounds of hell.  She also said that when the mic was retrieved, a small demon was holding onto the wire.  According to Jilly this was a serious news story and absolute gospel truth.  Somehow on the boards the little demon sort of was blamed for cutting Jilly's finger (SEVERELY) with the green bean can.  It was a funny story and I remember one poster did a great drawing of the green bean demon.  I wish I could post it because I loved it.

Anyway, I now realize I've been reading these boards for a long time and probably remember more info from here than my job.  Maybe I need to get a life or maybe I can blame a green bean demon for my shortcomings.

A pentecostal friend of mine called a green bean demon out of her son because he wouldn't eat green beans at Thanksgiving.  LOL.  She was mad at me when I told her she was crazy.  :/  Poor kid was the victim of a fake exorcism.

I can't imagine.  Seriously.  I wasn't super worldly or experienced when I married Mr. Meow, we actually lost our virginity to each other 5 years before we got married....but thinking back to our first time, LOL...that would've been a let down on our wedding night.  ahahaha.

I don't judge ANYONE who wants to wait.  It's not a bad thing, but I LEGIT can't imagine not doing ANYTHING until you're married.  Like...NOTHING?!?!  To have your first kiss in front of a lot of people would be SO embarrassing.  In fact, I believe that kissing can be a great signal on being compatible.  My boyfriend prior to Mr. Meow kissed me and it totally grossed me out.  LOL.  There was zero sexual chemistry between us, and I wouldn't have known that unless we had that unfortunate moment.  ahaha
