Yeah, the writers are DEFINITELY lifting lines from the internet with respect to Laurel.  I am 100% certain that she has been referred to as a gold digger on here before (Quentin, while drunk, says something about her chasing after rich billionaires, and says that she's a gold digger).  They're just mocking us now, aren't they?

Yeah pretty much. I assume it's a natural response from petty talentless hacks. Better writers would be more interested in writing a good story than attacking the audience. Especially, an audience with valid criticism. And off to the bitterness thread I go.

  2. So I got free internet on my flight (Thank you Emirates), so I took the opportunity to listen to The Realm Cast's new podcast for episode 12 of Arrow... I quite liked it! I like their enthusiasm for the episode! It made me like it just a little more... :p Also, I really liked their insight on the much talked about final scene. Check it out when you all have the free time :)

This was a good one. They had some good insight. Their love for the show is infectious.

As far as the season's shown us, Tatsu told him "only the student can defeat the master" meaning *Maseo*, and Oliver took it as gospel, but perverted it into *Malcolm*. I think the show is telling the audience as well that what Tatsu said is the only way?

I was thinking about this today also. It is one of the few things they've been consistent about on the show. Oliver listening to bad advice or applying the advice he's given in the wrong way. I'm really not sure what is supposed to be considered the right path. I actually agree with both sides of the argument. My assumption is that they will have Felicity shown to be right. Not, because she has a rationale argument(which she does). But, because Oliver has to mess up and learn and other random blah blah manufactured non-growth.

  4. Full disclosure, I've only been watching the show sporadically. Is it me or did  return from the dead Oliver seem at times  more lighthearted with Tatsu? It's like Tatsu and Maseo brought out a little of the old island Oliver. Or I'm probably just so desperate to see some lightness somewhere in this show. I was surprised Oliver was barely funny.

  5. I don't see anyone saying Oliver or any leader shouldn't be challenged or questioned. One of the things people used to enjoy about the show is that OG team arrow did. But,  going at Oliver for protecting his sister or for Laurel going into the field. Not a good look. Especially, when there are more important things going on. I'm never going to not like Oliver for being protective of the people in his life. Even if irrationally so. He is not always nice and I don't have a problem with that. Besides Thea has never had a problem standing up to Oliver and telling him where to shove it.

What would bother me, is that it  wouldn't matter to him that Sara or Laurel were putting themselves in danger. Or that he would have no interest in trying to protect them. Or not wanting his sister to experience yet another traumatic event after all the other ones she's had. And its mind-boggling to me that there wasn't enough respect for Oliver's experience in this to consider  his point of view regarding Laurel. I can't believe this foolishness is over Roy and Laurel. If they are going to come at him, let it be over something better this. Your not the boss of us now dynamic isn't really working for me.

  6. Laurel had no business out in the field. I have no problem with Oliver not wanting Thea to see Laurel like that. I would have no problem doing that to my grown younger siblings. Heck, I wish someone would have shielded me from seeing Laurel on the table like that. Those convulsions were hilarious. It  is ridiculous for me to see characters coming at Oliver when he's the one with the serious issue going on right now. It's his sister  that has a bull-eye on her. From the time the gambit went down Oliver has existed in this really morally questionable space. Him making all types of weird deals with the devil and why is the only thing even keeping me half way interested in this.  I'm just not invested in this team arrow democracy thing.

My deal with MG was that I'd stick around for Laurel Canary if I got decent Oliver and Felicity.  This wasn't even close.

Yeah. This is definitely the darkest timeline.

  8. This is the 4th episode of this season that I have watched. Seems like I didn't miss anything. Finally got the the Thea and Oliver convo and it was great. I missed whatever everyone else was doing while Oliver was gone. And don't care. I only care to watch the stuff that involves Oliver. Kinda glad that Oliver left since they "got this". Thought I would hate Laurel but I was pretty indifferent. She kinda blends in the background for me. Or maybe I zone out when she's on screen. I thought KC did ok in that last scene with PB. If it weren't for SA I woulda walked a long time ago. He keeps pulling me back in.

And I'm going to raise the possibility that the reason there was zero focus on Laurel working with the man who killed her sister? The writers just looked at the storyline through Oliver's PoV and completely overlooked the implications it had towards Laurel

I admit I hadn't been watching the show. So this really confused me. I thought it was just because I've been following online and not watching. Wasn't most of the season about her vengeance and wanting to get Sara's killer. It wasn't a minor point, wasn't it her main storyline. So glad I stopped watching this.

  10.

They do everything too quickly on this show.  They have mistaken fast-paced for massively rushed.

I think the plot and character stuff from the first ep of the season (except flashbacks) should have been spread out through 1/4 to 1/2 of the season. Establishing Laurel and Oliver  you catch em I cook em would have helped the whole insta canary thing a little. Working with the team in a lawyer capacity would have made it easier for me to stomach her with team arrow later.  Taking time to establish Roy and team arrow as a well oiled machine would have been fun.  Keeping Sara around a little longer and doing more bonding with her sister. And showing a little more of what she was doing in Starling before killing  would have helped. Even having her teach Laurel advanced self defense training because of all the kidnappings. So when Sara dies maybe you could care about Laurel picking up the mantle.

And though boring, even Ray's take over of Queen Consolidated would have lasted longer than one day. Oddly, bringing Ray in via Felicity so soon really came off forced. He needed to stand more on his own, like the Brother Blood character and then put him with Felicity if necessary.

  11. I'd like a some more Lucy flashbacks. I'm curious about her relationship with Garland. Some resolution to the Duke feeling abandoned by Audrey and Nathan stuff. More scenes with Gloria and Nathan or Duke. Audrey playing the supportive girlfriend role. More about Nathan and Duke's past together.

  12. I'm really confused by all the batmaness  of it all. I assumed the show would have more of a story to draw from being that there are Green Arrow stories. I felt like, more than most show I watch, it would take a while to run out of ideas. Or have to steal them from other characters. I can't say much about Oliver's  trajectory. They don't deserve it, but I'll give them the benefit of the doubt that Oliver is headed in a more green direction. I can't really call them out on that till the last season airs.

  13. I liked Duke going off as a trouble bomb but didn't get any satisfaction with Mara's end. I really wanted her to get a debilitating trouble or  be shoved back in to Audrey prison. Death was a gift for her. And what was up with her mom killing her and choosing a better model. It is Mara's mom after all, I shouldn't be surprised by the crazy. Still lmao at Dwight. He felt good about not being a part of the I love Audrey club, but ends up getting with her quasi mom.

I'm a naudrey shipper, but probably the only one that didn't love their scenes. They were ok.They were well acted, I'm probably still bitter because I wanted a little more from the Nathan can't feel Audrey stuff in 5A.

I never was able to get on board with the Mara emotional manipulation of Duke thing. I'm just kinda going along with it  because I love the show. I wonder what it is in my perception of Duke that makes me not buy it. I would have preferred that she just outmaneuvered him without all the traumatic emotional stuff.

A highlight for me this season besides Gloria's awesomeness, were her scenes with Duke and Nathan. It brought interesting dynamic to the season.  I really missed Duke and Audrey scenes this season.

I'm still love this show. I'm excited for 2B because I know I'll be getting some specific things I've wanted and the story looks promising.

there was a special connection between Sara and Oliver that Laurel and Oliver will never have.

I came here to post something kinda related. One of the things I loved about S2 was the camaraderie between Oliver and Sara on and off the field. I was really looking forward to her dropping by periodically this season and helping team arrow out. Maybe getting to see a non-intrusive storyline involving her and the league.  And them both being bad asses who have differing opinions on things. I'm entertained as much when they disagree as when thy were on the same page.

Oliver and Laurel who had the term 'anti-chemistry' thrown at them are now given more opportunities to interact. They are not enjoyable to watch together, how will this be any better when she's in the field.

Would several episodes focusing on Laurel as the Canary be worth it if it helped the EP's finally realize she wasn't working and find a way to remove her from the show? Or does over dosing you with Laurel while keeping the Arrow mostly off his own damn show go a step too far?

I'm so far from caring about any of it at this point. The show has a bigger problem for me now.  I have no interest in watching the 80% or whatever of the show that doesn't have Laurel in it. If the rest of the show was ok, I'd probably just skip the Laurel eps and then finish watching the season.  And not watching Laurel for me is less about hate and more about lack of interest. I just don't find the prospect very entertaining.

Too often she's used as the scape goat in really disturbing ways for what's wrong with the show when for me it's that the show has lost the focus from Oliver and a group of people (Diggle, Felicity and now Roy and possibly Laurel) fighting corruption and trying to live their personal lives at the same time.  I don't know what the mission of the show is now.  I don't think it has one.

As much as I love mocking Laurel And I do. The reason I'm barely watching this season is because there is nothing to show up for.  No team arrow.

I read that Arrow's not coming back from winter break until the 21st of January. If Oliver is missing from 3x10-3x12, that'll be two months (at least) between Team Arrow scenes. That seems like a huge risk to take with the ratings/audience...

Maybe they are counting on all the faux batman stuff to draw people back. I didn't make it through the trilogy so it does nothing for me.

I don't think of Mara as a consolation prize because she is the real one, the original as far as we know

I was thinking more in terms of the writers dealing with the triangle. Duke and Nathan are in love with Audrey. Both Duke and Nathan get to have one. I already mentioned in previous post either here or elsewhere  my interest in Mara's agency as her own person. I'm talking about the creators of the show trying to solve a non-existent  triangle issue problem.
