Spring Baking Championship - General Discussion

That was incredibly creepy! I'm really liking Lisa. She's been pretty consistently good and deserved her win. I also appreciate her low-key, down-to-earth, and NON-overly-dramatic personality. She just puts her head down and works, and has turned out some nice bakes.- 3.1k replies

Nothing. It's just that the movie is being released in April, therefore, SPRING! Not. Maybe she didn't notice until it was too late for him to do something different. And that's what sucks about team challenges! -

Same here. They were having fun ribbing each other. When Rolf won the final preheat where he could then sit out the extra bake, they showed Rafi rolling his eyes and shaking his head, but he was also grinning. I think they respected each other. And some of it, no doubt, was the producers egging them on. I think they encourage some competitiveness between some of the bakers. It seems to happen every season. But I know we all see different things sometimes; this is just my view. 🙃 -
Team Snow Good for the win! Congratulations Jonathan!!! Wow, I didn't realize you hadn't won before. It's about time! I really didn't know which way they were going to go on this one. Both displays had some great features, and the judges loved both tasting elements. There were so many talented people across all the teams. I'm amazed at what some people can do. From the cookie work to the characters to the sugar work to the delicious baking, I'm in awe and love to see everyone displaying their talents for us to enjoy. This has been so much fun. Thanks so much for spending some time with us on here, Jonathan! ❤️ Happy Holidays to everyone!

Poor Rolf with the modern architecture. The style demands a clean, minimalistic look, but gingerbread houses always have TONS of stuff on them to look authentic. How was he supposed to pull that off? I think it was a no-win situation for him, although it definitely could’ve been neater. Natasha’s and Rafi’s both would have benefitted from more candy and/or intricacy in the decorations. I’m happy for Steven. I think he fulfilled the challenge the best. He really did step it up during the last few episodes. I know a lot of people here don’t like him, but he doesn’t bother me. He can be a little goofy, but that’s it. I couldn’t believe during the intro when they called Natasha the dark horse. Huh? She’s done well all along, and she’s a pro. How does that make her a dark horse? If anyone was a dark horse, it was Steven, being the only home baker and having been not as consistent as the other 3 throughout the season. I didn’t have a problem with the graham crackers. They were all using pre-made candy. Rolf did make his sugar side panels, but that was the only instance of anyone making their own candy.- 2.4k replies

Cool - I'll keep checking for any announcement of new shows. That's a good sign that you get called all the time! Yes, owning & running a business is hard enough, so I can imagine it can be nerve-wracking having to leave it to do these shows. It must be fun and interesting to see how they've edited all that footage! Another question: When they have to replace a team member during filming, like what happened to your team, do they cast extras (like an understudy in a play) who can step in if needed? Otherwise, I don't know how they could find someone so quickly since they need to keep to the production schedule.

LOL yes, I guess you kinda relive it. Will you be on any more shows coming up after this one? Oops, editing because I thought Jonathan wrote this haha! I see he answered my question below.

Same here! I said "NOOOO don't send Snow Good home!" Jonathan, I thought Shellington was such a cute idea; wish you'd had more time to refine him.

Hi Jonathan! Thanks for stopping by - I love watching you and your team work. 😀❤️

I thought it looked like an elf. Hah, ok so I wasn't the only one! Oh my gosh, perfect! The pointy hat and human-looking face is what made me think it was an elf. I think if he had made it smaller it would've worked better, but he made it life sized and it overwhelmed the damned dessert! (trifle, I think? can't remember) I was thinking that if he'd done the menorah in white first, then gone over it with the gold, it would have shown up better against the blue. Yes, this is who I was thinking should be the final 3. When Natasha's bake didn't work out, I said Noooooooo! Don't eliminate her! Yes, he said it would be sleeping. Changed his mind, I guess. Maybe with time issues, it was easier & quicker to make it sitting. When she came out in that I said, "of COURSE Nancy would be wearing that". And several times when she lifted the fork to her mouth, she was sticking out her pinky finger. I thought you do that with a "spot of tea", not a forkful of cake. Rafi sometimes has a Fox Mulder (aka David Duchovny) look. Not all the time, but sometimes. My DVR also recorded the Friendsgiving rerun - twice! -

That was wrong for everyone. I said What? With 30 minutes left? OMG DON'T GET ME STARTED!!! Sorry, she just really triggers me with that nonsense.* That is not a conducting pattern, Nancy! She's doing infinity symbols. * Music major here 😎 I get tired of that, too, but at least she hasn't said it that much lately. I noticed that. I said, why don't you just call them Rolos? But yeah, I guess they didn't pay enough for that! My roommates & I used to drink those in college! 😋 Ha - long lost memory. One Christmas (late teens) I got really sick after I ate some chocolate rum balls. After I got better, I wondered what cookies we had left, and when I opened the tin that had the rum balls in it, I gagged from the smell 🤮. I'm ok with it now, decades later! Not sure that I actually got sick from the cookies, but maybe caught a virus and the rum balls were the last thing I ate before the symptoms kicked in, so I made the association. Megan actually did pretty well until this week. The book was pretty sad, but also she said reading was one of her hobbies . . . that's not what the twist was about. It was supposed to be something specific to you that you have in your work space. Maybe she reads on her breaks? -

I yelled, "Some cookies are cake-like!" It is a thing. Has she never had one? Just like some brownies are cake-like rather than fudgy. I was shocked because they said absolutely nothing good about Steven's cookie-cake. Both of the cookies were over-baked and hard! . . . of course, that could have been just editing shenanigans again, and maybe it had some redeeming qualities? And yes, Andre's bake was not great, but I don't remember the criticisms being quite as harsh for his. -
Same here. It's just one big commercial. I'm agreeing with your entire post. I've never seen Moana and don't know much about it. Yeah, I was also confused but somehow concluded that Corey was male. Glad Jonathan didn't get eliminated, too. I thought his fish were beautiful, so I was pissed that they criticized them and used that to put his team in the bottom two. 😠 Also, Joseph from Mistletoe Mavericks reminds me of a young John Deacon from Queen.

Yeah, that's getting really tiring. Lambeth cakes are just not my style. Too ornate and waaaay too much color in the icing. 🤮 That face Carla made when Nancy attempted to sing - bwah hahahahaaaaa! My sister & I both busted out laughing, and I had to rewind immediately so we could watch it again. 🤣- 2.4k replies
