I remember this episode and her claiming to know Kaczynski as a professor too (who just died today June 10 2023)
It's weird to remember a time when people could just make up fiction for clout and there was no way to easily prove/disprove.
We now know Cynthia was lying -- Kazynski had left his teaching position at Cal Berkley in 1971 to become a recluse, never to return to society.
This was 2 years before Cynthia was even born, but in the 90s media the only thing that was widely reported was that "Kaczynski was a professor at Cal" and not much else. So it was an easy story to pass off as true for anyone from Northern California like Cynthia.
