  1. Totally agree with your points! The land of Hallmark gets it totally wrong when depicting what actually happens at a dance audition or even a performance. There was that dreadful Nutcracker Hallmark movie in which we're to believe that a dancer who has not performed (nor taken classes, I believe) in years was suddenly equipped to dance the role of the Sugar Plum Fairy.
  2. Love of the Irish was a bit of 'meh' for me. Ms. Grimes-Beech was not at all believeable as a ballet dancer. Poor editing -- at the beginning having mom and daughter befriend the flower seller, buy the flowers, and then leave the pub without them. I counted at 4-5 changes of coats but at least mom and daughter had large suitcases. I also found the mom's adoption story incomplete.
  3. I thoroughly enjoyed Deck the Walls and agree that the brother stole the movie. This one will get a rewatch. So far, Deck the Walls and the Christmas meets Indiana Jones with Polaha/Chabert are favorites. I adore Will Kemp but could not get into the Austrian chocolate shop movie. In the Finnish Line, the lead actress was not 'kinda' annoying, she was flat out obnoxious. I did not care about what happened to her character but did love the scenery in this movie.
  4. For anyone in the metro-DC area, Travis van Winkle is appearing at Arena Stage in Murder on the Nile adapted by Ken Ludwig. Gorgeous set, lighting, and costume design and the acting, including Mr. van Winkle, is quite good.
  5. I did change the channel during the deadbeat cousin scenes. I totally agree that story line was unnecessary. I circled back to catch 'the misunderstanding' and the Broadway-style Christmas song. Five-Year Christmas has good actors but I found the storyline improbable and in typical Hallmark fashion, there was friend-zone but no romantic chemistry between. Given the lack of chemistry, the trek over time was interminable and I kept wondering why are these people putting themselves through this.
  6. Watching the DVR for Hallmark's Sense and Sensibility. The locations and the costumes are beautiful. The acting, however, is flat, with the exception of the actress playing Fanny, and there is zip, zilch, nada chemistry between Elinor/Edward and Marianne/Willoughby. I'm just not invested in these characters as they are portrayed in this adaptation. I had high hopes but alas am disappointed.
  7. I appreciated the take -aerial acrobatics -- and agree it was different. But I was so underwhelmed. I've seen Cirque du Soleil and enjoyed the choreography of the performers' routines. Unfortunately, I found the acrobatics -- if they can be called that -- in this movie to be no more than climb and pose. Between the lack of a strong dramatic pull -- will the lead couple get together or not -- and the static acrobatic choreography -- I agree with the poster above that this movie became yet another Hallmark background noise.
  8. Nothing is wrong with you. I couldn't finish Mystic Christmas and gave up on Round and Round after 15 minutes. In MC, there was zip, zilch, nada chemistry between the leading lady and leading man.
  9. The Producers is a fun show! To clarify, Casey Nicholaw directed and choreographed Something Rotten.
  10. I've not watched Hallmark movies since the cooking in Portugal film, but I am looking forward to the Will Kemp/Lacey Chabert dancing rematch (something with Tango in the title). Loved the Something Rotten shout out in the earlier post. That show is in my top ten list of favorite musicals!
  11. I gave the Bridal Cottage a pass since both of the leads are two Hallmark actors I cannot abide to watch.
  12. The Professional Bridesmaid was so bland that it became background noise while I cleaned up after dinner and I found myself pondering this extremely nonimportant question: why did this wedding party need a wedding planner when the Professional Bridesmaid did a lot of wedding planner tasks. The mind she boggles.....
  13. Welcome to Valentine. Leading lady and leading man are both unlikable just a few minutes in. Does not bode well.
  14. Much to my surprise, I enjoyed Paris Proposal, including the lead actress who I generally don't care for but perhaps that is because she usually acts opposite her husband, who I cannot abide. My one quibble was the de trop 'fashion show' in the department store, which was short on fashion and a bit of a time sink. All the rest, including the various Parisian street scenes, were lovely. And now, I want to go back to Paris. It has been a while.
