  1. Although I can see things from Amy's point of view when she said that she wouldn't feel comfortable making a confession unless she knew that it was confidential and wouldn't be shared under any circumstances, It seems strange to me that the whole priest/confession thing would even be set up that way in the first place, because of problems like the one Jack faced potentially arising. Like, if it was just set up in a way where people knew right when they walked in that if they confess to putting people in danger then the priest has the right (but perhaps not the obligation – I don't know?) to disclose that information, then the issue could be avoided, and people could just choose not to confess that sort of thing if they didn't want people to find out. Especially since keeping that sort of information to themselves just because they heard it in a confession could potentially comprise other beliefs/morals/standards that a priest has. I actually have no idea of what the law and the Catholic Church says about this in Australia, but I assume they looked into it when writing the episode, so I would guess that what happened in the episode was basically accurate? (Although I suppose you never know, with Neighbours. :P) I wonder if it's the same throughout the world.
  2. I thought his confession to Jack was supposed to be about Steph and how she should be with Belinda rather than Mark.
  3. Isn't the snake guy supposed to have something to do with Belinda? That's what they seem to be hinting at, anyway. There was the photo of Belinda that Toadie found on the kitchen floor, and the anonymous card that was delivered on Steph and Belinda's anniversary, and the attack at Toadie's office after he didn't get Belinda her registration back or whatever it was, and the fact that most of the other attacks have occurred at Toadie and Sonya's house (where Steph also lives). I don't know why they're dragging the whole thing out so long, though. That thing with Ned and the hair was weird, but I didn't understand why Elly was randomly searching Ned's wallet in the first place.
  4. The level of security they have for that Lassiter's penthouse is ridiculous. As if Paul and Gary would just be able to enter and snoop around that easily.
  5. Why is Piper wearing that weird wig to the formal? I wonder how much that dress Xanthe is wearing costs in real life. Surely not $600.
  6. Okay, so Lauren basically just covered my entire rant when she was talking to Paige in the pool, haha. :P
  7. I thought Tyler was supposed to be quite young (like 19 or 20) when he first joined the show. I feel like I remember them saying that quite explicitly, because of the storyline where he was stuck at home by himself with his abusive dad, and then finally left home when he was old enough. But now I keep reading online elsewhere that he is around 24, which doesn't make sense (although I think he is around that age in real life, or maybe slightly older). I agree about Paige's self-centredness. I don't understand how Jack could be with Paige even if he did stop being a priest. Like, for someone to have genuinely wanted to become a priest in the first place, their faith wouldn't just be this tiny insignificant part of their life that they could easily ignore. And so it's like when people bring their work home and it sometimes annoys their partner, except in this case, Jack is working for a boss that Paige doesn't even believe exists. I mean, even if Jack wasn't a priest, his love for God would surely shape all of his decisions, so it would be a really significant part of his life, and that would cause problems in their relationship because Paige wouldn't have those same priorities. Not to mention, she doesn't seem to have much respect for his faith at all, so she constantly underestimates and downplays its importance, and I would imagine she'd get sick of him fairly quickly. And in Jack's eyes, it's Paige versus the creator of the universe, so it seems fairly arrogant of her to try to claim that she is more important than God when you think about it from his point of view. And if she can't think about things from his point of view, then I don't see how their relationship will work. Anyway, I will stop my analysis there, because it's just a TV show, but the storyline has made me stop and think about these things a lot, obviously. :P
  8. Seems pretty strange that Zoe would have to fly over to the US for the bone marrow transplant rather than Callum flying to Australia. I would've thought that the priority would be for the person who has leukaemia to rest and the other person to do the long distance travelling. Obviously they're not actually going to be showing Callum (I assume), so that's the reason for it, but they could've just made something up about the operation being in Sydney, and then not showed any of it. It was also strange that they didn't mention Jade being tested for a match (well, I don't remember them mentioning that, anyway). You'd think they'd test Zoe's (other) sister before testing her niece and nephew. I also didn't understand Walter's explanation for what he was hoping to achieve by kidnapping Nell? He said something about wanting to meet up with a friend or something. He didn't seem to have plans to actually have the transplant performed without Toadie and Sonya's permission.
  9. When Brennan returned to John and told him that they had visited the address he had remembered and brought back a bag, I assumed that the bag contained his priest outfit. I don't remember ever being aware that John was living with the Cannings until he left. I don't recall ever seeing him in their house. I think I maybe vaguely remember them discussing him moving in at some point, but that's it. Really, Walter? Why would you kidnap Nell? How can that possibly help anything?
  10. Wow, I really wasn't expecting John to be a priest! Good plot twist. Apparently the actor didn't even know about it when he first took the job. I didn't understand when Gary or Sheila or someone said that the $10000 was somehow a clue that Julie caused the explosion and that the police would've realised sooner if Ben and Xanthe had come clean about the money. I think they said Tom stole it from the till, but it's not like the police would've known where the money came from, and since Tom apparently didn't even know that Julie caused the explosion, I don't see how knowing about the money would've been a hint that Julie was involved at all. So what was that about? I bet Paul has some extreme revenge planned on all of Erinsborough for not believing he was framed. It will probably culminate with him doing something even worse than the explosion. :P
  11. I thought yesterday's episode was really well done. The trial was very entertaining, and Toadie was awesome. And I liked today's episode too. Terese's acting has been good, and I thought Jimmy did well too. Was that the first time they have shown Paul's leg stump in the flesh? Interesting. Looks like some (or all?) of John's memories are going to come back soon, which is good, because I think that storyline has dragged on for long enough too.
  12. Sarah Beaumont. Karl had an affair with her nearly 20 years ago, and when Susan found out, Karl and Sarah claimed that they had only kissed. And then Sarah left the show, but she came back for a few episodes in 2013 and revealed that they had actually slept together. If you read the second last paragraph of the Storylines section of her Wikipedia page, some of that stuff might sound familiar: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sarah_Beaumont#Storylines
  13. This might sound a bit weird, but I'm so glad that Josh got such a good death scene. He became one of my favourite characters over the years. But I'm sad that he's gone. :( I was hoping that Georgia would be the one to die instead. Kind of mean, I know, but she is annoying me. :P Where did she even go, though? Didn't Amy and Kyle run straight from Georgia's room into the lift, and then it got stuck? So based on that, I assumed that Georgia was still stuck in the room or the corridor or something, but nobody even seemed concerned about where she was.
  14. Well, I did think that it was a bit inappropriate for Aaron to even get together with Tom in the first place, at least while the council was still considering the development application. And working on confidential stuff in front of him was inappropriate too.
  15. Yeah, I don't like the way Brodie treats the family that he apparently feels like he is part of, and the way he tries to get between Piper and the rest of them. If he really wants to be part of the family, shouldn't he be trying to unite them? I disagree about Mark. I think the original Steph (before she got sick) was a lot like Mark (in that they're both family people, and they have similar interests). And they seem to be gradually turning Steph's character back to her old ways, so I think if that continues, then she could be a good match for Mark. I thought Sonya was a bit mean and hypocritical for not giving Aaron another chance, and telling him that he wasn't suited to working for the council. Apart from the Tom thing, he's been a good and helpful assistant, and it's not as though she's ever worked for the council before either anyway.
  16. I don't think Sonya blamed Aaron (although Toadie seemed pretty annoyed at him). I think it was more a case of, it doesn't look good for the mayor to keep an assistant like Aaron, especially when Tom's going to try to pin everything on him. Hilary is Paul's dad's cousin. She first arrived on the show in 1987 to attend Daniel's parents' wedding.
  17. So, as soon as we had our indignant rants about Steph and Mark, they hopped into bed with each other after all. Typical Neighbours. :P
  18. The actor (Gail Easdale, who is Paul's wife in real life) was born in Scotland, but I'm not sure where the character (Julie) is supposed to be from. Presumably Scotland, otherwise they would have gotten her to change her accent? I think if you get a salmonella infection, it can be fatal if left untreated, so I guess it was potentially quite a serious mistake. I would have thought that Lauren would be required by law to have all her staff complete some sort of training before making and serving food so that they're educated on hygiene and safe food preparation practices, etc. I think Xanthe's instrument is a euphonium.
  19. Ugh, yes, I totally agree! I found it especially annoying the way Steph acted so offended that Mark didn't want to come to bed with her, and even made him feel bad about it. As if he wouldn't just be like "Um, yeah, sorry for not wanting meaningless sex with you after I've just broken up with my fiancée on the day of our wedding and after only finding out one minute ago that you've decided you're still into guys." Totally ridic for her to even expect him to come to bed with her, let alone to act like it was really mean of him to refuse.
  20. Why is Steph allowed to be the manager at the Waterhole (owned by Quill) while also working for Paul, but Terese isn't even allowed to be seen talking to Paul?
  21. Yeah, same, haha – that was great. Wow, Charlie really looks like his (real-life) dad. Such similar faces. That whole investigation into Paige was so ridiculous and unprofessional. How did Mark suddenly go from not being allowed to even know the details of the investigation (as he shouldn't be), to suddenly being the one to arrest Paige and interview all the witnesses? I felt so bad for Doug when Paul scammed his money out of him. :(
  22. Yeah, I know that Karl and Susan made that mess in their house and it wasn't actually robbed. I was just talking about the fact that Aaron mentioned that another robbery had happened previously. I wonder if it's a mistake in the script, or if we're just supposed to have gathered that it happened at some point even though it wasn't actually shown. Yeah, Nate was working at The Waterhole. That's why Sheila was wondering what she was going to do without him, and then she replaced him with Steph. Apparently Nate's coming back in April. The actor just took a short break to perform in a production of King Lear. Just read that the actress playing Julie Quill (the new owner of Lassiter's) is married to Paul in real life. Interesting.
  23. I feel like I've missed something, but I'm not sure how, because I've been watching every episode. At the start of today's episode, Toadie and Sonya were talking about their house being robbed (I presume recently), and later when Aaron saw the mess in the Kennedys' house, he told Mark that he thought there had been "another" robbery. I don't remember any robberies occurring. When was there a robbery? I also don't remember Amy forgiving Paul and agreeing to go back into business with him. Did that happen? Or is she not actually starting a gazebo business and she just randomly offered the vet/surgeon a gazebo in order to save Bossy? In typical soap style, Charlie appears to have magically aged faster than the normal rate since he's been absent from the show. I read that the kid now playing him is Eddie McGuire's son. As far as I can tell, he appears to have little to no television acting experience, but obviously everyone has to start somewhere, so that doesn't necessarily mean anything. It'll be interesting to see how he goes. By the way, I'm pretty sure Max was also charged with manslaughter at some point, and I think he had some mental health issues too, so I don't fully understand why he is allowed to be Charlie's guardian and Steph isn't, but I guess it somehow makes sense in Neighbours world.
  24. Haha, they had another one of those weird "Paul tells a story" bits before the opening credits last night. I think it's good though. I think I started watching Neighbours a few months before Steph and her family first arrived on the show, but that was back in 1999, so there would be a lot of people who don't know her history. And I had forgotten exactly what happened last time she was on the show as well. LOL at that ridiculous bit where Josh met Steph for the first time and thought she looked familiar. I wondered whether they'd make a joke about those two being related. Was that just a mistake when Steph knew Jimmy's name even though Amy didn't tell her, or was it supposed to be further evidence of her creepiness? I don't see how she could possibly already know who Jimmy is. Naomi is apparently gone for good! I thought she was just leaving because the actress was having a baby, and she didn't get a good farewell so I assumed she would be back before long, but then I read an interview where she made it sound like she had no plans to return. So sad. I love Naomi! I hope she does come back.
  25. Oh, I only just watched that bit now. (I sometimes skip the bits before the opening credits, because I can already remember what happened previously on my own. :P) That was weird! Haha. But I liked it. I assume they got Paul to do it because he was the one who set up the whole series of events by getting Brad and Terese to move into the street. I thought Tuesday's episode was pretty good. I liked how they only had those three characters and no one else. But the way they kept barging into each other's houses (even more than usual) was weird, especially because Terese kept trying to pretend she was just there for some normal reason. And the part where Terese pushed Lauren into the pool was a bit too dramatic and ridiculous. And it's also a bit far-fetched that a photo of Lauren's backyard would be taken at the exact moment when she kissed Brad, and that Paul would see it almost immediately. But whatever, it's Neighbours. I don't get why everyone's acting like Ben's completely innocent. As if you'd pull down your friend's dad's pants when it's basically the first time you've ever spent any time with him. But there was no need for Russell to be so scary. I liked Toadie taking Nell for a ride on his rocketship chair. :)
