My mom came from old money, she would be appalled at the lack of good manners these supposed "upper crust" people display on this show.

I think Emily has dreadful manners.
I have heard people say that they learned from her...that just baffles me..unless they really mean they learned how not to act.

I also don’t see the ending as Rory following in her mom’s footsteps as the show runners claim … they are two extremely different situations of single motherhood.  Rory is twice as old, educated and supported as Lorelai was when she ran away and had Rory.

    I couldn't agree more !!

I also don't see Lorelai & Rory as being a lot alike either.

Sadly, we had to put Nathan down this morning. At about 5:30 am he started howling and when we got up to check on him, he was dragging himself across the floor with his front legs. Our regular vet is closed on Saturdays so we took him to a different one. They said he had a blood clot in his back and was in a lot of pain. So long old pal.

Sending you a big hug. 😘

It helps no one it the revival writer's room is trying to sell viewers on Rory's awesomeness.

    True !
ASP and DP made it clear in AYITL that Rory is a terrible person. She looks down her nose at working, has poor morals, etc.
That character is damaged beyond repair IMHO.

However, did anyone else feel that Rory/Alexis just didn't seem to fit with the guys?

I think that Alexis never connected with the character of Rory at all in AYITL. Not that I totally blame her....

Rory didn't want to work hard like Lorelai but also didn't seem willing to play the role of a married socialite like Emily. She wanted to best of the both of those worlds without putting in the effort needed to achieve either of them.

I agree with this. Rory was very work shy in AYITL.
In all honesty though, I don't think that Lorelai had a good work ethic either as time went on. Even in the OS the only time I can remember her working hard was when she was getting the Dragonfly open.
I do believe that she had to have worked hard when Rory was little & that's how she became manager at the Independence Inn.
