  1. The only real world (as opposed to purely emotional) justification I can see for the wife switch is not insurance, but a custody defense.  I suppose Robyn's kids' father COULD say she's shacking up with some guy she's not married to and having children with him.  I don't think that necessarily is as big a deal in 2015 Las Vegas as it would have been in 1965 Utah, but it makes more sense than insurance since if Kody bought it, he could cover his children no matter who they were by.

The other is just some bankruptcy fine print issue they're onto that we haven't identified yet.  He and Meri already declared at least once... maybe you only get one with a spouse, but a new spouse re-sets the clock?

Now this is the most plausible reason I've heard so far.

  2.

"I believe that in Season One we saw glimpses of their real personalities."          Good point. I found them to be more believable in Season One as well. Does anyone else remember how badly Brady nagged Rhonda to quit her office job. She really loved her job and didn't want to quit and I had my fingers crossed that she would defy him. Judging by what I am reading, she ended up quitting? Was there any discussion about why she quit?

There really wasn't.  Brady and Paulie just thought Rhonda worked long hours and needed more rest.  At that time, apparently Brady's construction business was doing quite well, and they must not have needed the money.  I wonder what happened business-wise to make the bottom fall out.

  3. So does anyone else think Heather and the younger cousin (Forgot his name) will start to date on this show?

Is it any different then branson famous? Does the canon line up?

The Branson show with Barry Williams isn't funny/bitchy like this show.  But it has the Haygoods (they're advising Barry on how to make his show a success), and they are fantastic.

My gosh, Heather in that short gold dress.  Does Patty have to hit her over the head or what.  If your boss tells you not to wear it, don't.  And that look on Megan's face when Patty was lecturing her.  She was loving it.

  4. Just looked her up and I see that her last name is Manson. Living just outside of LA... hippie parents... is she part of the family??

Do you mean Charlie Manson?  There was never anyone else with the last name Manson in that group, and I'm pretty sure he was in prison before Breanna was ever born.

  5. Really? Dammit! I figured it was too good to be true. We were going to watch the next few episodes this weekend. We'll probably still watch the next few and see how bad it is. The series is filmed in Spokane so we know a couple of the extras and it was really fun to look for them.

By all means, watch it all the way through.  It's great fun even though there were a couple of dud episodes, and the series has a killer cliffhanger.

  6. Somebody needs to sit Megan down & explain the different between stage hair & makeup, & real life hair & makeup. That one inch thick bright pink lipstick with matching eye shadow hurt my eyes. I don't even want to think about the hair that's been teased to add a foot to her height.

On The Branson Insider facebook page, there's an interview with Megan and Brandon.  She looks so different without the stage makeup and hair---very beautiful in a natural way.  They talk about what it was like shooting the show.  I hope there's a second season.

For anyone who's interested, another Branson-based show just started, "A Very Barry Branson", starring Barry Williams of Brady Bunch fame.  The first two episodes just aired yesterday.

  7. Everybody keeps saying that Jon was so against the kids being on TV.  He seemed OK with it when they were together.  It was after he and Kate separated that he had his epiphany about it being so wrong.

Was it only OK if he also profited?

This is so true.  Jon only objected to the filming after the network cut him loose, but he found out they could keep him from appearing in any other show.  He was hanging out with Michael Lohan, and the two of them thought they'd get some kind of divorced dad reality show.  That's when Jon tried to stop filming, so his motives are certainly not pure.

Kate said she agreed to no further child support because she doesn't want Jon to end up in jail and have to explain that to the kids.

  8.

anyways, yup it IS financial.  it's because they don't want to lose their "work" that they're always going on and on about.  The "work" of course, being the filming.  And it's cheaper to divorce Meri and legally marry Robyn than it is to bring in a new #5 wife that is going to get a piece of the TLC Brown Family Entertainment pie.

But why would divorcing Meri and marrying Robyn insure that the show continues?  It's just not that interesting and doesn't really change the family.  Of course, Meri has given up her legal advantage in terms of social security, inheritance, and medical decision-making.  It's not much of a new storyline if that's its purpose.

  9. The all-Robyn show next week may very well be a set-up to prime viewers for this bombshell.

Another idea floated is that Robyn's ex is going to terminate parental rights, and if Kody was legally married to Robyn he'd have the (easier) ability to adopt her children.

It could be possible, as well, that Robyn's ex is trying to get custody of his kids and using her unorthodox living arrangements as grounds, so Kody legally married her.  If Meri agreed to a divorce for the sake of Robyn's kids, that probably makes her the world's most unselfish sisterwife.

Just when you think the Browns can't surprise you anymore!

  10. I'm pretty convinced Jenn Graziano is scripting everything on this show, probably including the whole twitter war.  That being said, how come every physical fight between these women is nothing more than hair pulling?  No one actually throws a punch.  I'd be in favor of putting gloves on the combatants and hauling them into a boxing ring.  If you're going to constantly talk about how tough you are, let's see it.  They're marshmallows, all of them.  My mother could drop-kick them all down the street.

  11. I was never a big Demetria fan, but her conversation with Melyssa really turned me off.  Especially because it was apparent she wasn't really listening to what Melyssa had to say.  I remember one of her THs about how she didn't foster friendships, I think because she was so career-focused.  Given how dismissive she came across on the show, I'm not surprised.  Nothing at all wrong with ambition, but I think she didn't anticipate some of the criticism she received when the show aired.

    ETA:

I liked the show for what it was, but I'm skeptical of this new season.  Maybe it should have been a one and done.

I'm glad both Demetria and Brie will be gone.  I need another Mica-Daisy-Melyssa fix.  These three make the show for me.

  12. Patty Mabe has three children and six grandchildren.  I don't think that little girl was Brandon's daughter.

ETA:  I tried to look it up and found out their other son died in 2006 when he was only 20, so now I don't know whose child that was.

  13. On Twitter Christine is : Christine Brown @rosecolored6 , so I guess she has some insight into herself after all.

This tweet by Christine is interesting. https://twitter.com/rosecolored6/status/559544703687737348

Was anything like this discussed on the show?

Yes, briefly.  They seem to think that someone can just come and remove your children just because you're a polygamist.  It doesn't surprise me that Christine would believe it because, frankly, she's not the brightest bulb in the chandelier, even though I find her to be fairly likeable.

  14. I think the remodel went very well.  Kate handled it and the chaos a lot better than I would.  I know the kids complained a lot at first, but when it was all done, they seemed to love it and be appreciative.  I just don't see all this misery and hatred for one another and their mother that others see.  Would it be better for them to be living in a tent with Jon?  Or wherever he's living now since he's unemployed again.

I don't think I'd label Mady as bipolar.  She's always had a bit of a difficult temperament, but Kate seems to know how to navigate with her to try to keep her on an even keel.  There's always one child in every family who's harder to deal with than the others.

  15. After seeing Annie's house, I'm wondering if financial hardship caused her to move in with Christine.  The yard that was nothing but dirt and weeds and the chain link fence around the front yard.  I've only seen that in pretty sketchy neighborhoods.  How much money could she be making by selling her tote bags?  So it may have been presented as mom helping Christine out just to save face for Annie.

  16. I would be totally interested in hearing more about that! Is there an off-topic thread here?

Ditto.  Total true crime buff here.

Back to Nathan Collier...did this guy actually say, "The sheriff could kick in my door, arrest me and lock me up in a cage"???  This is so obviously untrue.  I'm pretty sure there's no law in Montana about a married man having a girlfriend as well, which is all the second wife is legally.  So even when they don't live in Utah or were raised in a polygamist cult, becoming a polygamist turns them into paranoid liars.
