Ouch to Cassandra and Jordan's parting. There must be something off-putting about her, because she seemed to garner a similar reaction from both Eric and Jordan. An initial interest and then a hard pass. That was awkward to watch, she looked genuinely embarrassed to be dismissed so casually.

Don't forget she's a single mom. I think most people aren't interested in leading on single parents and also aren't interested raising other people's kids if they aren't 100% sure they're in love. It makes things harder for single parents for sure, but it's also a reasonable consideration when deciding whether or not it's worth it to invest your time in someone.

  2. giaNtsandYankees, that's a lot to take in. But, are you saying that Aspyn Brown's fiance Mitch, Vanessa from this show, Rosemary from My Five Wives, and the husband of Jeff’s secret older daughter, and the wife of Jeff’s secret older son are all siblings (either half or full)?

Well, there is a possibility that Aspyn is marrying her cousin.

Wow, I need this in linear form. Does knowing that he is Vanessa's brother make either of these scenarios more likely?

I struggle with 47 year old Rebecca too.  I don't feel like they aged her up enough to have teenagers especially having not been very young when her teens were born.  She looks so similar to when they were in elementary school to me that it's hard to believe that time has actually passed.  I feel like one simple thing would have been to have the glasses make their appearance at that point instead of waiting until she was in her 60s and a shorter hairstyle would have been more accurate for the time period.

I think "the Rachel" would have been a good hairstyle for her during the mid to late '90s.

Not speaking for the original poster, but I can see how it is possible if you only record a show or watch On Demand, which is my preferred viewing choice.  I vaguely know who Olivia is, but I couldn't tell you a thing about Meredith if you paid me.

Also, in defense of that poster:

I know who Kerry Washington is, but couldn't have picked her out of a line up. I know Scandal is a show on tv, but couldn't have told you what channel it was on or that it comes on right before HTGAWM or that Kerry Washington was on it or that the main character was named Olivia or even what the show was about beyond that it has to do with some sort of scandal.

I trust that I don't need to catch up on anything or watch another show to understand the introduction of a new character here. It'll be fine.

  6. The things is, 22 isn't too young to get married. People get married at 22 all the time and make a go of it. I think the issue is that, a lot of changes happen to you in your 20's. It's when you grow and figure out who you are as an adult and how you're going to make your way in the world. You can certainly do this while married to someone WHO IS ALSO GOING THROUGH THE SAME THING. The issue I see with Bekkah and Arie is that Arie isn't feeling it all out anymore. He's ready to settle down with someone who's done with that phase too. If Bekkah is ready to get married, she's not ready to marry Arie. She needs to marry a guy who is 25 or younger and wants to go rock climbing on the weekends, dancing in clubs, traveling around, seizing the day, etc. Arie wants someone who is fun to be around and who he enjoys talking to, but he doesn't seem to want to be out galavanting around taking advantage of his youth.

My point is, Bekkah might be ready for marriage at 22, if she meets and falls in love with the right person for her, but it's not Arie.

how about cake smashing in the face?

My mom was a Lutheran pastor and she always said you could pretty much predict divorce or at least predict marital problems when the groom smashed the wife's face with cake on her wedding day. It just seems so disrespectful. Mykelti and her entire family are telling him NO and he thinks he's so damn funny and gonna do it anyway. I can't even understand taking a bat to a pinata of each other and why that would be funny either.

  8. I don't know where else to put this question, but who was the couple from the very first Bachelor in Paradise season that got "married" and we never heard from again? The woman was highly sought after during the first few episodes and even had her sights set on a different man at first, if I remember correctly. Did they not last? Is that why they aren't touted as a success story like Jade and Tanner, Carly and Evan?

Was it Lacey or something like that? Who was the guy?

  9. And I can't believe I'm going to keep this going, but it was *Vienna* who snuck into Jake's room, and that was this big shift in the show, to have this brazen move. IIRC, Jake was sort of confused as to what he was supposed to do ... but as we all know, it ultimately "worked" for Vienna because she, ummm, "won." I guess.

It *was* Vienna. Who knew she was such a game changer? I feel better, for some reason, knowing that Michelle Money didn't throw herself at Jake. I can't even say why, but Brad ranks higher than Jake in my line of Bachelor rankings. Well, I haven't actually ranked the Bachelors, but that might be fun too. Someone has "cheated" in this manner ever since, yes?

Although I do remember way back, when Rated R hobbled miles (right?) on his crutches to surprise his B-ette. Was that Ali? I remember the B-ette chasing him through hotel shrubbery later in that season.

Before that, Michelle Money snuck into Jake P's house and tried to get something going with him there. I remember thinking that it wasn't fair. Haa, but she can't have been the first. This would make a fabulous Bachelor/ette trivia question.

  11. I'm pretty sure we didn't see much of AshLEE because she's only speaking in the bathrooms and that one spot where there isn't a camera at this point. She probably goes way the hell down the beach away from it all before she says something. They said she was already very aware of when she was on camera and that she was an entirely different person when she was being recorded than when she wasn't. After the fiasco with Clare, she's just decided not to be on camera speaking anymore. She's crazy. I mean, they all are, but this post is about AshLee.

Has there ever been a F2 who declined to show up at ATFR or, at least, didn't feel entitled to ask why he or she wasn't chosen/go on and on about their feelings?

I don't remember her name, but didn't Juan Pablo's runner-up refuse to talk to him in ATFR? I think she let Chris Harrison interview her, but declined to confront Juan Pablo about anything. IIRC, she said something like she didn't want to ever talk to him again and that she knew everything she needed to know about him.

The fact that, for all the seasons of this show, he's apparently the only minority contestant to be memorable enough (and that's probably because he's from the most recent season) speaks volumes about how this show treats Race.

People say this frequently, but there have been two Hispanic "winners" and two Asian "winners." This show (and this country) has a problem with African Americans and Caucasians being together, not race in general. We're more accepting of gay couples kissing on television than a black/white kiss. It's not just this show. It's all shows. It's too bad because everyone has worth and should be able to show affection to his/her loved one.
