That was awesome! Great end to a fantastic season post-Halstead and Upton. I know a lot of people on X wished the show ill due to those two leaving, but the show got stronger to me. Burzek fans definitely deserved better, but I think the show wanted to develop (redevelop?) Voight's arc. He's turning back to the dark side after 2 seasons of relative goodness. This show must really regret killing Al off. They show remnants of him more than they do Erin! I like the continuity though. My heart broke for Nina. I guess that crush is over. We didn't even get a hug or a smooch out of it 😔. I was hoping that Hank would at least hold her hand as she came to those realizations. He's just a pragmatist through and through. Nina has principles. It'll never work. 😔 P.S.- I LOVED that scene in the parking lot. She recognized he was going to self-destruct, more than the team that has known him for 10 years. Love how she got him to open up a little by reminding him they're past that. They would be so good together if Voight had more give to him. I wanted Reid to win a little bit more and for Intelligence to outsmart him in some way. But they genuinely couldn't get this one. He's still the best Bad Guy we've had so far. Too bad Reid didn't estimate that Voight would turn to the streets, just like he would. Intelligence lives on another day! 😁

I'm a week behind but what an episode! This season keeps getting better and better. Reid is the best Big Bad we've had IMO. He actually is ruthless and will follow through on his threats. I screamed at the end when he came in like a tornado. Just destroyed Intelligence. I knew something was up when everything went according to plan. From Torres planting the camera, to the buy-bust on Rennie, to the staged jacking... It was just too smooth. Kianna should have been sitting on the house so Otero couldn't have been kidnapped. It was sad to find him murdered, even though he is a bad dude. Speaking of Kianna, she's coming back to no job. It was weird to leave her out of this episode. She will have a lot to catch up on. Off to watch the finale! Take him down Voight!

I'm not sure what I missed, but this episode totally missed the mark for me. I had to stop and start it about 3x to finish. It was boring and done before. One of the few weak spots of a great season.

I felt the same way. Glad she realized that Voight knows what he's doing and that these criminals can't be trusted.

I agree Sandman. I feel like it's headed there and I don't like it. Voight is always losing someone close to him, as he starts to trust them. Even if you don't like Voight, this trope has been overdone. And I feel like we should have had a scene of Kim and Dante wondering about Reid's leverage. Maybe Kim mentioning to Adam, "You don't think it could be...?" No one seemed to be curious about what he had on the team.

Great episode! Idk why I really thought Voight was going to get Reid this episode. He was close. Using your elite PD team to find your lackey’s dope is some kind of awful. Reid is probably the worst Big Bad we’ve had so far. Just because he seems to have no boundaries. Yessss to Hank and Nina. He had the drink waiting for her 🥰🥰🥰 but he made her cry. Old Hank is dirty. Better she know that now. I find it unrealistic that the team is so willing to put everything on the line for Hank. Kim who just made detective? Kianna who just clawed her way back from beat cop? Unrealistic. Does Kim know that Reid knows about her part in Dante’s scandal? I was fully engaged in this episode and I’m looking forward to next week. PS- poor Dante.

She did not come off well at all in this episode. They are not compatible. Kevin is a traditional man. A protector, a leader, a guider. Val doesn't like that. She's stubborn and a know it all. They made up for now, but it's not going to work out. The episode was good. I was live tweeting on X. Someone said that the crazy college student was wearing Kev's gray shirt that he couldn't find. I totally did not catch that!

I would have thought the brick would have been taken care of when that guy got taken down. I remember Hank wanted to put a brick on his record and move on and Atwater chose to handle it by breaking into his house and telling him that he would destroy him in the court of public opinion if he didn't back off.

What did you think about him slowly opening up to her company and support? I love it and I can't wait for them to revisit that talk. But at least they were back on screen working together. I'm all for Voight having some happiness in his life. I enjoyed this episode, watched it live but I'm late commenting. Reid dirty af. The way that gangbanger changed his tune after meeting with Reid's lawyer friend was crazy. I ship Nina and Hank. I like how he is thawing out towards her. Hopefully we get a decent resolution to their story by the end of the season.

I'm having too much fun with this season! I will have to buy it on DVD for my collection (if they still do that). Solid episode, intro was long but tied in well. Deputy Chief seems to love him some Kim Burgess. I know she's detective now, but fall back dude. She's taken lol Sad that the poor Black girl lost her life. She was so cute. I clocked the Spanish dude threatening the other guy; I was surprised Kim missed it. But I like how they relied on her flashbacks. Was genuinely surprised it wasn't him or Neal. I don't know if I bought the husband angle. There are many ways to get rid of a spouse that doesn't involve killing 5 innocent people. LOVE where Kim and Adam are now. Domesticated Adam is adorable. I laughed so hard at his struggle to help Mack with fractions and getting annoyed her playing on the tablet. The scene with Kim noticing his building stress was so important. I love how she was supportive to him at the end. Looks like next week Atwater's girl is in trouble. I can't tell you what I first thought when I saw the preview 🤭 😂

Wow we're all in agreement. That's how you know this episode was trash. Season 12 has been amazing. I don't know what happened. Are they running out of things to do with Atwater? There's so much there with his efforts to revitalize the community, he now has a "girlfriend" (don't like her but hey), and he still needs to make detective. I'd love to see an episode where he takes control of a scene like Kim did when she made detective. He can even continue to mentor Torres and now Kiana. Throw his dad in the mix every once in a while, just to remind us he's not on island alone. I should write for Kevin.

Oh wow! I had no clue, but now it makes sense. This is totally on brand for him. Those were the worst parts of the show, especially what they did to Burgess, Antonio, Al and Atwater. Atwater had zero growth during that period. No girlfriend, didn't make detective, and was constantly in pain.

Fun fact: I was watching ABC 20/20 and it covered a story that was exactly like this episode. Once they discovered the bodies in the woods, I knew for sure this episode was ripped from the headlines. The 20/20 episode is called The Chameleon if anyone wants to watch. The real man's name was Terry Rasmussen.

Chileeeee. This episode was a mess. Atwater went back to rookie officer or something. All of those errors and simple mistakes with things he knows better on. You can't tell me he really thought homie was going outside to get the money. Or that Hype wasn't a dead man walking, giving out all that "free info" after "Kevin Anderson" paid Luther a visit. Kevin's been doing this for over a decade. He knows better. I don't get how a drug deal gone bad devolved into multiple murders. It didn't make sense for Luther to go back and kill Wendell. Sure Wendell could ID him for killing the innocent kid, but at the same time, they'd both be on the hook for that murder. And it's not like Wendell robbed him, because Luther got back in the car with his duffel bag. Voight got Hype killed (sad) and then tried to offer a consolation prize about not revealing that he was forced to work with police. And Atwater thanked him for that. I wouldn't have had shit to say. I was excited for their lil community project too. 😕 Lastly, I'll say this. Say what you want about Hailey but she knew how to treat her CIs. I didn't like how Kevin was threatening ol' girl about her case and now she's essentially outed as a whole snitch. Reminds me of Kim and her CI. PD has to do better. PS- no way Atwater goes undercover undetected after that public announcement about the community center.

Just finished watching. I was a bit bored by this episode but I'm fascinated by Torres' reactions. Like when he got locked inside (he obviously wasn't scared of the kid like they made us think), to his reaction to the rapes. Makes me wonder what else he experienced in Maron. This still has been the best season. I would get Peacock just to watch S 12 again.
