Chelsea Handler, that’s who that was. I couldn’t quite place her

Cute episode, but they really wasted Marla Gibbs as this week’s ghost

It was a horrible episode. Not enough Marla Gibbs. Isn’t the point of the whole show for Nell to follow along the dead? After the first scene they just abandoned the whole thing. Way too much Duncan. STOP SAYING SHARON DARYNSON. The whole Crush Coach thing was horrible. So was the awkwardness between Lexi and Edward. And that girl sitting in the outfield playing with grass. And Dennis whining about his ex-girlfriend and REFUSING TO GO TO FIRST BASE AND IT COSTING THEM THE GAME and Duncan making NELL care for his parrot after HE lost the bet when DENNIS wouldn’t go to first base because his ex-girlfriend was playing first base….she dodged a bullet. And so did everyone who didn’t watch this sorry excuse of an episode. Only good thing was the Nell and TJ thing.

Darlene made the stupid choice to quit her office job

That was to pay for Mark’s tuition so I don’t know if you can call that stupid. She sacrificed a higher paying job for her kid.

Is Mark in residence at college? Not living with the family anymore?

Mark has been the closest by far to Bev. You would have thought Bev would have wanted to say goodbye to him. But I understand why she wanted to have that time with Jackie.

Because of a short news break in, the ending was cut off.  (And c'mon NBC, can't you just add a minute or two to the show?  You had to know you'd probably break in briefly?)

Can anyone mention what happened after Abby and Dan rolled out the barrels?

I thought the beginning started too on the nose but I had more laughs as the episode wore on.

I'm glad Wyatt being there doesn't mean that Flobert is gone.  They both offer something.

They aired the entire episode but the recording was cut short, maybe that is what you meant. I also watch Extended Family so I was able to catch the end, but I will have to catch the end of EF tomorrow on Peacock.

Both lawyers were on The Goldbergs. Rob Huebel was John Calabasas who had a different role every time and Paul Scheer guest starred in Season 8 in the same episode his wife did.

  5. My recording got cut off due to the NBC special report during Night Court that made this episode start a few minutes late so I will have to catch the very end of this episode tomorrow but I absolutely hated this episode. When you see that someone is alone with a woman, you get out of there. And horrible advice by Julia. You have to be yourself on a date.

Maybe the clerk is going to be a revolving door of characters, like Murphy Brown's secretaries.

I don't know.  It depends on when the Christmas episode was filmed because they had the other guy as the clerk. I hope we see Wyatt again.

It took me forever to place him but he was also on The Good Fight.  That was more of a drama but had some comedic elements.

And add me to those who like Wyatt. The actor was on Mike and Molly, and always funny

    Wyatt is here to stay!

  7. I can’t get NBC on DirecTV currently because of the Tegna/DirecTV dispute, but was able to get home in time to watch via antenna. I think I will still catch it again on Peacock. Unfortunately I accidentally caught the last few minutes of the Extended Family premiere (meant to wait and catch that on Peacock) because of the football overrun.

  8. I knew exactly what was going to happen with Cassie as soon as I saw the description and it was obvious they knew it’s sadly probably getting cancelled by including the narration at the end about the parents raising the baby while she was away at college. They even revealed the gender. Who does that? A different time for sure.

How did Melvin, Bill and Dean get home after the keys got tossed in the river?

That's good. I was beginning to wonder if we would ever see Bruce again. He moved into the basement and disappeared.

Basically his story just picks up where it left off last season, just five episodes late. He was in tonight’s episode as well. It was a really good storyline with Bill.

Jack McBrayer usually irritates me, but this role was a good fit for him

Yeah he was much more likable in this role than in Call Me Kat when they tried to get him to fill in for Leslie Jordan at the cat cafe. That just didn’t work and his character was dropped after a few episodes.

Karen was a case of right girl but wrong place, wrong time, wrong era. Her and Dean had great chemistry though. Apparently according to IMDb she had been in a few Season 1 episodes. (The pilot, Brad Mitzvah and Black Teacher episodes). I’ll have to go back and look.

The fact Barry and Lainey not only are not shown reuniting and ending up together, but that Barry actually MARRIES JOANNE is INFURIATING! Joanne was an annoying character from her first appearance, and she never ever felt like even a remotely decent match for Barry. They should've been broken up long ago, instead, fans were slapped in the face. I don't care about Schooled, The Goldbergs had the chance to get it right with Barry and Lainey and show that they indeed ended up together, even just a brief scene would've sufficed. This was as stupid a thing the producers could've done with Barry. Other than killing him, there literally was no other option more idiotic than the one they chose. They should be banned from producing ever again. Even A.J. Michalka (actress who played Lainey) said she believes Barry and Lainey ended up together AND WANTED TO BE IN THE FINALE. The Barry/Joanne elopement was a travesty on so many levels and wrecked the finale. A BREAKUP SHOULD have been the choice. Preferably even before the finale. Preferably before season 10 altogether. This was so badly done I can't even express how angry it makes me. Adam's romance was done alright, and Erica and Geoff have always been a great pairing. But GEEBUS they SCREWED UP BARRY'S. SHAME!!!!!!!! Barry & Lainey forever! Joanne NEVER!!!!!! (And CB can go jump off a pier into the mouth of a great white shark) 2 series, 2 absolutely FAILED finales. Barry and Lainey deserved better. WE deserved better.

Adam and Carmen were horrible together as well. If they weren’t going to introduce his real life wife Sarah they should have just kept him with Brea, no longer than the show lasted after they broke up.

My head canon is that Barry and Joann’s marriage was never legal. Think about it. They decide to elope on a Saturday night after the dinner party and by the next morning they are married? Wasn’t the dinner party the same night as the high school reunion? They kinda have to get a marriage license and the courthouse wasn’t open for them do that. And they need a witness. You can’t just decide to elope on a Saturday night and be married on Sunday morning.

    This was originally episode 5.

Lindsay Sloane, who played Alice Pedermeir in the original "The Wonder Years", plays Mrs. Hitman, mother of Dean's friend Brad Hitman (Julian Lerner).

Yeah next week was originally episode 4 and judging from the description, it must be fallout from Dean outing Keisa episode 3. But it kinda makes sense as to why they switched them because I think this is supposed to be first episode of Patti LaBelle’s two episode arc as the choir director. Unfortunately, due to the ESPYs and the CMA Fest the 6th episode won’t air until July 26 according to Wikipedia and Futon Critic.

I totally called Coach Long using the same excuse Bill did about the “big game” 🤣

I liked that Dean thought of them like romance novel characters. I'm just glad that the love triangle is over.

At least Dean and Keisa don’t have to tell Broadrick now

I didn't like this episode much.

I don't get the whole forbidden fruit thing (I reealize it exists, but I don't get it, it just seems like a lot of hassle, to me), and I thought everything about the way that resolved was lazy writing. It's become a cliche that females "choose me" and it serves as an out for the males who would otherwise have to deal wth fallout of being chosen/or not, and also preserves the notion that women/girls have no actual desire for intimacy, none of which I think is interesting or credible storytelling.

I also thought the stuff between Lillian and her sister was 100% cliche, boring, and made both characters look bad.

The season opener was bold and awesome, so it's like the second episode was a massive backlash against anything worth watching.

It definitely wasn’t as good as the premiere. Dean gets dumped by Keisa yet Keith helps get Jackie fired (the boss man didn’t like him just showing up like that) yet they get back together? After all that trouble Lillian goes to to get Jackie that job? That was effed up. He will never change.

Too bad it had to be split over two weeks.  It is much stronger when viewed in a single session.

It didn’t have to be, they could have aired both parts next Tuesday the 16th but it would have meant that the last two weeks of the Lopez season would have followed Night Court reruns.

Yes, but as a visiting professor (at 15, I believe), not a student.

They are moving the tornado and the Germany trip up by 2 years because George has to be alive because Mary goes back to help George with the house after the tornado, only it won’t be on cinder blocks, presumably fixing a plot hole. He could go back at 15 though.
