I haven't thought about that show "Clean Sweep" for a while! I enjoyed it too. I see from its Epguides listing that it ran 2003-2005 and over 120 episodes! Peter Walsh was involved who also did some books/audiobooks on organization.

Based on https://epguides.com/Hoarders/ , tomorrow's (Dec 6th, "Martha") episode, the season's 8th, might be the last of the season given the last couple of seasons were only 8 episodes also.

Fascinating! My DVR's copy snagged it from the broadcast itself (not On-demand). I wonder if they fixed it in time for broadcast but the OnDemand was an "unproofed" or early edit copy they uploaded in advance or something before a final edit pass. They've been using that title card for ages (years?) so, it's so odd a typo would slip in for this one episode. Maybe the title cards are done separately for resolution/sizing/font reasons for on-demand vs. broadcast or something.

It was okay for me! I too was curious if they were that sloppy or rushed. But I made this screengrab from last night's episode - if that's the place where the error might've been.

Hmm, this January 2021 article about his PBS series "Legacy List" writes this:

😄 Yeah - she often looks to me like she's ready for a night of clubbing; she's one drink order and a matching purse away from that. I see she was born in 1965 and is now 56 and while nowhere near "old" in the world at all, her outfits are more like a 20-something (or, pushing it, being generous, a 30-something) might wear.
Interestingly, in earlier seasons I thought she was more subdued and frequently was rocking multiple layers, turtlenecks, sharp blazers/jackets, etc. I understand some of these climates are hellishly hot and humid. But combined with the obvious facial work I wonder if she's insecure about aging and over-compensating in outfits and facial enhancements.

Posted earlier this month about a property in the Koreatown section of Los Angeles:
And from a couple days later when - of course - having it hit the news finally spurred some action.
I do have to say it's extremely satisfying as a viewer to see the small Bobcat tractor just "have at it" - no gentle organization, hand-holding or "The Zaz" therapy here! Just bulldoze that stash!

LOL! Yes! 😁 Season 2, Episode 12, "Dennis & Nadene"/"Erin & Malinda". Also the famous "river of poop" episode.
That's one of the more famous "The Zaz" moments - I was just thinking about this post earlier before you mentioned it too!

I agree with this! I'm not "handy" in the least, but I had a loose, wiggly door knob on an inside room door that was irritating me. I wondered if I could repair that myself easily without replacing the doorknob outright or calling a handyman - I actually had no idea. I found a number of Youtube videos that showed there was a little groove at the bottom of the plate at the base of the handle flush against the door that you can gently use to pry loose and slide it away and the internal piece you see has multiple screws. Several of them were loose. Tightened them nicely with a matching bit from my socket set, put the plate back, and the doorknob was now tight and as good as new. As silly as it sounds, and it's "just" a doorknob, but now whenever I use that doorknob I have a flash of pride that I restored its functioning to what's expected and it cost no money for a fix. Youtube is amazing for educational/how-to videos where still pictures sometimes don't show the progression or a nuance.
To bring this back to "Hoarders", I'm sure a number of those houses have got to have loose and wiggly doorknobs - I can just feel it in the depths of my soul - but it's the least of the property's worries! 😄

Another fine write-up/synopsis, @CrazyInAlabama! Thanks for doing those. If I can't get to the episode for a day or two I'll rundown the synopsis and then check out the episode afterward.
Funny how plumbing issues are such a constant amongst these hoarders. When I saw that line of your summary I thought, "Oh, of course, because is there more than an episode or two that goes by before that's the story?". It should be a drinking game, everytime the water was shut off, or is on but various taps or bathrooms are non-functional. Or a severe leak developed in a hot water heater or something. I guess combine serious neglect of the house and individual rooms and/or life instability (and not working or barely earning, leading to utility shut-offs years ago - or dumping the "poop bags" everywhere) and that's what happens.
I've been watching that "Dirty Rotten Cleaners" that was mentioned earlier in this thread and many of the sites are plumbing nightmares too! They're often doing the big initial clean (to "stabilize" the environment as one of the cleaners on the show puts it) before the tradespeople come in to make repairs.

Now about the episode before this, Paul. I’m confused about Skippy’s age. The plaque at his high school said Class of 1953, which would mean he was born in 1935. But those modeling shots appeared to be from the ’80s, and he didn’t look like he was in his fifties. Or did I read the plaque wrong and he was born in 1953?

I still had this episode on my DVR so I had to go back to investigate the age thing! I love a good Sherlock'ing. There are four different moments screen-captured here that I composited into one image.
1) Top Left. You're correct in that the plaque said "Class of 1953" so 1935 for a birth date is reasonable.
2) Top Right. Skippy is obviously the more elderly man in the white hat in that picture.
3) Bottom Left. Shown while talking about Skippy so that's got to be from I'm thinking at earliest the 1960s, but more likely the 1970s or into the 1980s - kind of a "middle age" thing?
4) Bottom Right. About the "modeling shots" you mention, I think that's Paul actually in that shot and another one they showed. Same long, more rectangular face, angular features (sharp eyebrows) and curly hair (but now is white). Since Paul is a younger man than Skippy they match up better with the Paul timeline. The voiceover is slightly ambiguous because it's under Paul saying "I believe what Skip really liked about me is that I was outgoing, because he was so shy. I think he wanted to be more like me, and I wanted to be more about him." So they cut to old photos of Paul at that moment I guess.

I had also thought perhaps he had an inheritance from his deceased parents/family members. Even if they weren't "wealthy", some sheer savings there that might've gone to him. Although I suppose given how long ago they passed and also Carl's advanced age maybe that'd have run dry by now.
The million+ dollars of fines didn't seem to phase him, everytime I heard that figure I about fell off my chair but we know he's not of a rational mind in many respects. That million+ is letter of the law on daily accumulation, I'd be curious if they waive or reduce it to something actually payable/achievable. And what would that be? 500k? 250k? 100k? 50k? Inevitably down the road I'm sure the house ends up getting seized or defaulted upon and all that stuff shoveled to the trash.

I know what you mean. I have to think she wants to do "pop culture diagnosis" being around actual licensed/trained therapists so frequently for the show, and probably wanting to add a little something "extra" vs. just cleanup techniques.

I found that bizarre, also. As the piles accumulated nobody said or paused to reflect "Hmm, these are weighing more and more every week that passes..." I suppose when you're in that particular mindset, whether just "messy" or a genuine mental disorder in hoarding, it's the least of your thoughts. Surprised they didn't hear the house creaking and groaning in obvious dismay.
The amusing thing to me is that Tiffany is obviously passionate about books and therefore we might assume knowledge, assuming she's even put the smallest dent into actually reading them, but in those pans of book spines and with visible titles thanks to high-definition, there were no books on structural engineering or exceeding load tolerances. So much knowledge, all elsewhere to that which she really desperately needed to make the mental lightbulb go on! 😄

Speaking of that "BSOJ" ("black screen of judgement" or "black screen of justice", for any newbies reading 😃 - and still can't believe the term made it into someone's dissertation!), I just finally got to watching this episode earlier today and I happened to notice that for this season they (finally) updated the main title music.
Also gone are the stark, echoing, heavily processed single piano hits immediately following the main title to "set the stage". And same with the "BSOJ" and closing credits music getting the change-up.
Two other thoughts:
1) At one point, Terri seriously butchered the name of our beloved "The Zaz" by saying something like "This is Dr. Zarssio!" in introducing Roy to her. I was so curious I had to go back a few seconds to see if the closed-captions caught it that way. Sadly, it was not to be, and the closed captions read the correct "Dr. Zasio". A small part of me hoped it would be the phonetically spelt-out butchered word or a snarky "[Terri mispronounces Dr. Zasio's name]".
2) They also did this cool effect showing a still photo of Terri on a boat (with that 3D photo effect thing that is the rage) and although it was a still photo the water was "rippling" to show some tide as the photo slowly zoomed in if you looked closely enough. Now I know that's not the hardest thing to do (compositing/digital replacement) in this day and age with Adobe After Effects and Instagram filters with cat ears and stuff, but that somebody actually said "Hey, let's do that" to try to perk up the visual I appreciated. Stay classy, "Hoarders", and keep upping your game - it's the only way you'll make it through ANOTHER 13 seasons! 😄

Agreed, I was mighty impressed at the grandson, Joshua's, maturity and well-spokenness. The "Hoarders" crew recognized that in his words at the pre-clean speech/gathering/pep-talk and good-naturedly joked that they should just step aside and let him take over even at that early point, but he was rational and realistic throughout the episode with his assessment of things (especially in his onetime guest room) and giving some "tough love" rationality towards Debbie on her sorting table outside.
Plus, you have to think not a lot of teenagers would want to appear on a show like this and thus potentially be teased by classmates, etc. in the end when it airs, so kudos for him if he didn't care about that and the priority for him was helping get his grandmother's life in order. If we look at hoarding as a mental illness indeed and not just circus freak-show spectacle, then there's nothing wrong with it, but kids/teens "can be so cruel" indeed!
That's not the first time I've seen an immature (emotionally or mentally) or spaced-out or wrong-priority grandparent or parent figure, and the kid is the mature one - I always wonder if that's a reaction to that behavior that, as counterbalance, the kid has to be the "grown-up" in that interaction just from a practical sense or the behaviors and coping they need. Or nature's way of counterbalancing.
The way that "BSOJ" so casually dropped the brain tumor information was shocking but I wish him a great, long life.
