Only 8 group leaders - this entire group would have to retire: Gina, Lexie, Caroline, Rachel, Amber, Ashlee, Erin, Jalyn.

My bet is they will lose 4 or 5 of those 8, so potentially the 4 first group leader spots will just stay with the same old.

Chandi and Kelcey (hopefully they both return!) seem like shoo-ins for 2nd GL. Likely other contenders would be McKenzie, Claire, and Darian.

Honestly I'm guessing only Caroline and Ashlee might come back. Gina and Lexie have both done five years and have both accomplished a lot, so I don't see either of them staying. Amber has already announced this is her last year (I'm pretty sure) and Rachel's segment in the finale episode suggests that she's leaving after this year. I think Jalyn had a great redemption season as far as making SG again and making 2GL, she should leave now while she's in a good place. And Erin I just don't see staying for a fifth year, not quite sure why. Maybe she will though. But I'm thinking they will have three returning GLs max, so at least one new group leader with no 2GL experience. The only current 4th years without leadership positions are Taylor, who's already announced that she's retiring, and Madeline, who I also don't see staying. Idk, maybe I'm being cynical. But based on this I'm guessing Kelcey will be a first group leader for sure, Chandi if there's a second spot, and then 2GLs will be Claire, McKenzie, Armani, and possibly Kat (I see her staying and if she's paired with someone like Kelcey who's a little more reserved it could actually be a decent leadership combination).

  2. Thoughts on this episode:

AR's exit was way too boring for the cliffhanger last week. It should have been at the end of the last episode, you can end with K&J being pissed and you still have an interesting ending without the completely unnecessary cliffhanger.

Loved seeing the girls posing with poms at cameos and doing dancing shots! I wish they would use some of those as their cameos, they tend to have more energy (and actually look like cheerleaders).

LOVED the girls' response when Jensen came back on the field after her office call!

The callout about Tori making SG after being cut last year shows just how great of a dancer she is, but did you seriously have to include the line about not knowing if that had ever happened before? You'd think SOMEONE helping edit this together would remember one of the several girls this has happened to.

    Another freaking cliffhanger?

I believe they said she resigned but didn't know if the show might try to spin it.

Honestly it wasn't super clear to me what it was supposed to look like. Seemed like a mutual decision between K&J and AR for her to leave, but it seemed like it was suggested pretty heavily by them and she just wanted to leave on a good note, despite it being somewhat her choice as well? I honestly don't know if I would call this a resignment or a cut.

When Kelli was intro’ing Lisa to make her announcement to leave, did anyone else notice that Kelli said it was a decision that was “brave, mature and unselfish”? Weren’t those the words Victoria used for her announcement? That really jumped out at me this last episode.

THIS! I heard that too and immediately thought of Victoria's post. It's a little different since here the words are coming from someone else and not the person actually making the decision, but for the phrasing to be so similar is really strange. Makes me wonder if Victoria had an injury and really wanted to keep dancing but ultimately decided that it was smartest to just let her body heal. If that's the case though I don't know why she wouldn't have just said that - "I recently suffered a <blank> injury and I am choosing to take a year off to properly recover, but I will be back fully healed for next season." So maybe not.

DAE find it weird that they never mentioned Toby the Stylist was a DCC for years?

When I heard her name I kept wondering if it was her but it was hard to tell with the mask. You'd think they would've said something about it!

They "selected" specific girls for makeovers this year. At least to my knowledge, they've never done that before. Subtle way of saying these are the girls that don't have the DCC look without actually saying it on camera.

I also found it interesting that all the girls with long blonde hair weren't chosen - Madeline, Tori, Ashlinn, Kleine, etc. And yes, three of those four went through makeovers within the last two years, but that's never stopped them before. Might just be a weird coincidence, but I definitely noticed it.

  7. Biggest pet peeve from this episode: not only were the solos repeated from the judges' showcase from the first episode, they focused on the SAME DANCERS. Seriously. Caroline, Rachel, Claire, Amber, Armani, Ava, Tyra, we saw extended footage of their solos the first time around, if you're going to repeat the solos, show us different people!

    Brennan was short???

I don't think it was ever really mentioned but in her last season she was generally second from the end for the kickline, so I'd assume so.

My contributions to this list are current vet Amber, gymnast Kat from season 10, and Jessica from season 7.

But the names are all listed under each lady in each row.

Historically speaking, these boards are arranged in groups based on score, and within the groups the girls are listed alphabetically. So the original post was splitting up the girls into their scoring groups. The entire top row of veterans probably got a perfect score. Then Kaydianna and Tori likely got one maybe. Armani, Erin, Jalyn, Jessica, and Marissa probably had two maybes. I think it was two seasons ago that they actually had gaps on the leaderboard separating the scoring groups, which would have been nice to see here. But yeah, that's what the original post was looking at, who scored the same.

And at one stage all of the TCC Ashleys were in the same group. I remember Kelli calling them up Ashley, Ashley, Ashley 😂

At least back then the initial TCC groups (before group leaders were announced and whatnot) were just alphabetical. Super obvious in season 8, which is when there were 3 TCC Ashleys.

I don't think Judy creates or teaches dances anymore, and hasn't for ages. It makes me wonder who the actual team choreographer is in reality. I think they say they have 50 new dances every year. Who creates those? We know they bring in outside choreographers, but they aren't paying outsiders to create 50 dances. The DCC also always seem to have one or two assistant choreographers (recently retired DCC) on staff. Maybe they're doing most of it? Them and the group leaders? Or maybe they're getting alumni like Sarah and Jenn and we just don't hear about it? Very curious about how this works.

That number has fluctuated between 25 and 50 depending on which MTT season you are watching. And I'm pretty sure that's just the number of routines in general, not new routines. Total speculation on my part, but I'm guessing they have maybe five new dances each year and half of them are hip hop or contemporary that are only used for SG, and those are all done by guest choreographers.

You can see the DCC at the beginning, kicking (and not up to the usual kick standard, I might add).  Also at the 2:10 mark there are close-ups.

I will say that they're spaced out so I can forgive kicks a little. Tess, Danielle, and Alanna's kicks were good, Maddie's was terrible, everyone else seemed a little poor. And Alanna's closeup was gorgeous! She was so overlooked while on the team.

Oooooh good point, is there anyone who’s entering their fourth year who isn’t in (and has never made) show group?

I think it's just Madeline and Taylor who have never made show group, and Jalyn made it her first year but hasn't the last two years.

DCC In trouble... hmm... Kristen, Alora, Jessica, who else?

There may also be some more weight-related cuts this year. They might add that on to Kristin, she's looked a touch soft in the past. I'd be shocked if they let a group leader go, but Lexie was also looking a bit heavier than normal in that recent show group clip, so that's a potentially dramatic storyline, even if they don't end up cutting her. I haven't watched recent prep class videos, is there anyone else looking a little soft that could get cut?

  15. Did anyone screenshot that story with Savannah's pic or know where I can find it (I don't have an Insta)? It seems like half of the calendar shots on the website have the girls' butts hanging out so for a picture to get a lot of comments on that must mean it's pretty bad.

does anyone know of any heavily featured TCCs who didn't make the squad but tried out again and went super under the radar and didn't make it back to TC? or maybe they did make it back to TC, but after years of trying again?

Karissa made TC in S6 and was one of the primary stories that year before getting cut near the end, but she didn't make it back into TC the following year (although I wouldn't say she flew under the radar that year, she was definitely featured, but she still didn't make it back). Emily made TC in S8 and was got a fair amount of camera time before she was cut, then tried out the following year and was cut at semifinals and wasn't featured at all, then came back to TC in S11. Then you've got Kalli Fullerton, who made TC in S1 and S6, and Kathryn Dunn, who made it S3 and S8. I don't think either tried out in the years between. Kalli was pretty prominent her first year, Kathryn not as much, but they both had "returning five years later but not being five years better" storylines.

  17. Rewatching old seasons, it really seems like New York Jets girls have bad luck with this squad. Jasmine was cut at auditions in her fourth year. Danielle was almost cut her second year (she's kind of an exception here, since she ended up being a GL). Tara was cut her second year. Savannah has been passed over for show group and group leader despite being an upper vet and seems to constantly be looked at as one of the weakest on the squad. Malena was dragged through TC and then cut on the last night. Jalyn totally fell out of favor after her first year and somehow hasn't made it back onto SG. Am I crazy for seeing this pattern?

this fascinates me because she was soooooooo slender when she tried out/in season 8

She changed so much to me between seasons 8 and 9. Her rookie year she was super skinny, yes, but she also had very natural hair, no extensions, soft curls, lighter makeup, and overall looked very naturally pretty. Season 9, she had awful extensions and super tight curls at the ends, makeup caked on her face, it looked like she may have gotten a nose job (and a bad one at that), and looked super snobby in every shot.

It seems like Dr. Manhattan has already given us the answer.
    He's 4 for 4 so far.
His last four retirees are Tess, Briana, Savannah, and Sydney.

It definitely seems like a likely list, I'm just wondering if any of those girls (or any others) will wait until after finals to officially announce their retirement. I half want one or two people to wait just so this board will be filled with pictures of finals and everyone trying to figure out who was missing.

  20. That's four official announcements now. When is finals again? I'm wondering if we'll hear about all of the others before then or if we'll have to search through pictures to try and figure it out.

I think I'd lean more toward Ashlee than Rachel for a G1 leader.  Maybe Amber over Caroline too, but it's hard for me to say, since I consistently forget Amber exists do I don't know much about her. I do think she's a good dancer though. I think of people who aren't in leadership already, I'd say Daphne and Erin.  I'd say Jalyn should be there, probably over Daphne, but not the way they've treated her.  I'd love to see Amanda get a 2 GL.

My prediction of Caroline and Rachel being group leaders was based off of how the organization appears to treat them. Amber is one of my favorites, so I would love for her to be a group leader! I just feel like she's one of the girls who is a fantastic dancer but overlooked a little by the organization. I agree with Amanda potentially getting a 2GL spot, along with Kelcey! They're my favorites from their rookie class. I'm just not sure if the organization could defend the decision to place one of them over so many returning fourth year girls, even if some of those dancers are more blender than standout.

  22. Very interesting. If that list is true, then we're only losing two group leaders and none of the 2GLs. I wonder what the leadership would look like with that. I'm guessing Caroline and Rachel W would be promoted to group leader. The returning rising fourth-years that aren't already in leadership positions would be Daphne, Erin, Jalyn, Madeline, and Taylor. I'm not sure one could make a really solid argument that all five, or even four, or these women should be passed over for a leadership role, so I don't think we'll see any of the 2019 rookies as 2GLs. I would guess Erin and Daphne as the two new 2GLs, but that's a lot of blonde in leadership roles and I'm not sure how they would feel about that. It's not the triangle, so it's not ruining their "bouquet" but it still might influence their decisions. Thoughts?
