As the father of a young daughter who has watched a ton of kidTV, I recognized Jake (Jon Beavers), from Smurf's flashbacks, as a character from "The Fresh Beat Band". In the last episode as Smurf is berating the guy, she says something to the effect that "you're just a bunch of Twitchy assholes with guns." Beaver's character on Fresh Beat was named Twitch. He even winces when she says it.
