  1. There will no doubt be times when they'll regret not getting the larger house. But money concerns are real and it was kind of refreshing for a homebuyer to say we chose this house because it was cheaper.

Also, the aunt has serious mobility issues and running up and down those stairs every day, several times a day will get old fast.

I really do think they made the best choice for them at this stage in their lives.

Loved seeing the girls, Lucy is really just a mini Mallorie. Helen seemed a little camera shy, which is understandable.

  2. Not a great episode. I don't think I laughed once. And is the Grover actor getting worse as he gets older?

I do not like where they are going with the Courtney storyline. She's already making a lot of demands and throwing down ultimatum's. This can only end badly for us as viewers.

  3. I really enjoyed this. It's interesting how some people came off looking better and others look worse. Who knew all the work that went into making one song.

Stevie Wonder coaching Bob Dylan was great. Al Jarreau being drunk was hilarious. Sheila E is still bitter. Loved Smokey Robinson being the one to rein Michael Jackson in was great.

Kenny Rogers driving himself to the studio was nice. Just a fun project.

  4. Was this the season finale? This is a show, based on the premise, that might work better as a case of the week show. With the bombing in the background, if it must be mentioned. The episode where JLM was a expert witness at a trial was one of the best of the season. That's where he can get in all the exposition about behaviors. His sister could be his support team and we never hear from his assistants again. You could bring in various guest stars every week and have a reason to talk about the irrational behaviors.

Oh, and who is bugging the ex-wife's house? Did the kill her boyfriend so she could get back together with JLM? No thank you, she can go too or get better writing for the character.

  5. I caught it through Passport and enjoyed it very much. So far I like the new characters. Just the right amount of Sister Monica Joan. There were obvious cuts though and that is so frustrating.

    One question though:

    Spoiler

where did the baby Reggie had come from?

  6. Was never a fan of River with Eleven. I did really like her with Twelve. Maybe it was just the actors seemed more on equal footing. She seemed to turn Eleven into an idiot whenever she appeared. And shouldn't she have known less about him each time they met instead of more?

  7. Not sure I remember anything about the movie, not even the leads. Was it Anne Hathaway? Who was the male lead?

Anyway, these two are likeable and I'm curious how it will go forward.

  8. Wow, that was stressful. I knew Ian would not take the eventual breakup well, but that was a mess. I didn't think Emma would have the affair with the headmaster, but what do I know. I saw the film once years ago and promptly forgot everything about it.

  9. It was such a relief to see Dex sober, and trying to stay that way. I was taken aback seeing Toby Stephens and Joely Richardson portraying Sylvie's parents. What a bizarre family.

  10. Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory (1971). I can't believe I'd lived my whole life without seeing this film until now. Not only that, I didn't realize that the songs "the Candy Man" and "Pure Imagination" came from this film. What have I been doing with my life? Anyway, I liked it a lot. Just a cute little movie. Of course I was irritated that it took a golden ticket to get grandfather out of bed after 20 years. Dude, what have you been doing? There have been deaths, births, was anyone besides mom working? But I digress, I liked it and couldn't get that Oompa Lompa song out of my head for days.

  11. Finally caught this over the weekend and I didn't love it. I'm tolerating KB's Poirot better but I still see the actor and not the character. I was able to figure out the murderer and motive pretty quickly. Maybe my enjoyment was dulled because I was so disappointed with the turn of character for Ariadne. The sets were beautiful though, reigniting my desire to one day visit Venice.

  12. Love the idea for this thread! I've been with Call the Midwife from the beginning and am always happy when someone else discovers this show. I was always disappointed that Downton Abbey got all the recognition and this show got none.

On topic, I'm almost finished both Monk and Leverage. I missed both shows during their initial runs but am enjoying both, especially Leverage. Adrian Monk I just want to slap sometimes but I do enjoy the mystery of it.

I found Criminal Minds around season 10 and tried to watch the new episodes but just couldn't get into it. For me, the show lost lot when Thomas Gibson's character was written off. To much torture porn as another poster mentioned.

  13. The Vanishing (1988) I had seen the Kiefer Sutherland remake years ago so wanted to catch the original. Wow, this one stays with you. I don't necessarily agree, but understand the changes that were made to the remake. The average Hollywood movie wouldn't end the way the original did. And the movie didn't spell things out for you, you just had to pay attention and figure it out. Well done film.

  14. My post got deleted yesterday. I enjoyed this episode despite a lot of stupid choices made by folks. Poor Russo, when I saw the title of the episode I knew things wouldn't go well for him. That last scene with Neagley holding his hand was just sad. He's a tough guy though, him confronting his boss like that was crazy. Al Sapienza never plays a good guy, I'm surprised he didn't kill Russo right then and there.

I too was offended for Marlo at Reacher and Dixon having sex in her bed while she's trying to stay alive with her daughter.

I'm glad Marlo is not evil and that Swan is seemingly not a bad guy.

I guess all roads are leading to the showdown with A.M., who I am almost bored by when he shows up on the screen.

  15. Finally saw this over the weekend, I loved it! I think it's one of the best Hunger Games movies, right after Catching Fire. I really enjoyed the book and I thought they did a good job with adapting the book. I've never seen Tom Blythe before, but thought he was a great Snow. Rachel Z was really good. Viola Davis was fantastic and terrifying. I think Lucy started to really doubt Snow when she found out he was leaving 12 to go to officer training. Funny thing is I don't think Snow meant Lucy any harm until he realized she had turned on him. Sorry to realize how Tigris ended up after seeing where she and Snow started.

I wouldn't mind another book telling us how Snow eventually became president, I mean there's a 64 year gap between movies...

I think I'll add this one to my HG library.

  16. 1 hour ago, Tachi Rocinante said:

I also think Swan is being held captive.

I agree, I no longer think Swan is dirty. I think he might be dead and someone just said they were Swan in case the hired shooters were caught. My mouth did drop when the building blew up, I thought the guy was going to die, just not like that.

How did Neagley and Dixon get into the trunk of that car?

"You do not mess with...teamsters". Made me laugh.

I'm glad the cop is not dirty.

Thanks to Larry Bird, I instantly knew dude was in Indiana, lol.

  17. Another great show! I am familiar with all the honorees, so happy for each of them. Whenever we find out who the honorees will be, I play a little game trying to figure out who will get the final tribute and this year I guessed correctly that it would be Barry Gibb. But I have to say, as great as Ariana DeBose is, something was lacking with her performance, she couldn't seem to get the crowd engaged enough to get out of their seats.

Cynthia E. killed with "Alfie" I felt sorry for the person having to follow that performance. And "You'll Never Walk Alone" was awesome.

I also loved the comments from Queen Latifah's family, so heartfelt and real.

But, like was already mentioned, I miss the little biographies that used to introduce each honoree. Overall and enjoyable show that I look forward to watching again.

  18. I saw this on Christmas day and enjoyed it. The cast did a great job! My theater was full and applauded when Fantasia tore the roof off the place with her rendition of I'm Here. I had to remind myself that this movie was based on the play and not the 1985 movie. I hope this version gets the awards love the original did not receive.

  19. I agree with the thoughts that O'Donnell is not all he is saying he is. Has anyone even heard his kids voices, like on speaker phone? Do we know for sure that's even who he's talking to? And, he could have still been the one to trash Neagley's hotel room and just played it off that he found it like that. Although that would be two seasons in a row where someone we thought we could trust turned out to be a traitor, I hope the show isn't that much by the numbers.

One another more shallow note, if they do want to go by the numbers, I hope they find a reason to put Reacher in a suit every season, the man cleans up well.

    So great seeing Finley again!

  20. It wasn’t terrible, we’ve just seen it all before. A little Star Wars, a little Magnificent Seven/Seven Samurai, at one point it was clear little Kona was baby Gamorra.  I always feel Snyder’s movies wouldn’t be so long if he didn’t insist on so many slo-mo scenes, that really don’t add to the movie. I’m not invested in the farmers and don’t care about the Empire, I mean Motherworld.

  21. Great season! Congratulations to Greg and John, I was smiling when they entered the park. Although I would have been happy for any of the teams. I got a kick out of the people helping teams in Seattle. They knew it was the Amazing Race and they were cheering them on, that made me smile.

  22. This one hurts so bad. What a talented actor. I first paid attention to his role in Glory where some said he gave a better supporting performance than Denzel. He was also great in another favorite of mine, Frequency. But of course there will never be another like Frank Pembleton in "the box" with a suspect turning red names black. What an awesome character. And so much love for Raymond Holt. I could just go on. Such a talent. He will be missed.

  23. I really enjoyed this episode. I was unspoiled so did not realize we would get so much of the new doctor. On a totally shallow level, is it wrong to envy Ncuti Gatwa's legs? I want legs like that.

I knew nothing about the Toymaker before this episode and I still don't know much, but NPH did his thing and I didn't hate it. I thought #2 special was a lot more scary than this one. So glad we got to see Kate again, and so relieved she didn't slap the doctor. Unpopular opinion ahead, but I was never crazy about Tennant's doctor. I'm a huge Matt Smith fan, but Donna is my all time favorite companion so I was satisfied with the way things ended for 10/14 & Donna. But I really don't ever have to see Tennant as the Doctor again.

I'm really looking forward to Gatwa's run as the Doctor. I can see he's one of those rare actors that has mad chemistry with everyone, so that should be fun to watch.

    Bring on the Christmas Special!
