Agreed!  Note how Kootie's shirt is purple in the beginning, perhaps indicating he's the spiritual leader of his baby mamas.  Now it's beige, indicating that he's faded away into the background of most of the mama's lives?

Oh, this is fun!  I took a course in grad school on the symbolism and propaganda of modern-day advertising in pics, television, film, and other media, and I enjoyed it tremendously.  Thanks for reminding me of this, Cancun.  Come on back, now, for I want to play more.  😉

How about this one, Season 17, when Christine found her way to freedom (sunshine) while the rest remained embattled. I took a film class in college, same thing regarding use of symbolism in Hitchcock movies. 🙂

Tonight's new one is interesting to me.  Blake is an old friend of Scott's and he's now a neighbor.

"Cottage on a Cliff"  4 bedrooms upstairs, living space down, it's a back split on two levels.   Blake is a single dad, and he'll use the cottage on his weekends with the kids, and rent it out sometimes.    This cottage is newly purchased, and in horrific shape, including tree stumps under the house.     It came fully furnished.   Debra won't be a fan of the furniture, or the massive fireplace.   None of the bedrooms are consistently furnished or decorated.   The bathroom is hideous, and there's only one.  Scott wants to reduce or remove the fireplace, reconfigure the one big bathroom into two bathrooms.

There's a giant tree growing right through the back balcony deck.  Fantastic views.  There's a lovely dock, and deck next to the dock.   Lots of steps from the house down to the lake shore.   Four bedrooms will be configured better, two bathrooms including an ensuite for the primary.  Laundry room is huge, and ugly, that will be turned into a den with a sleeper sofa for two more guests, so a fifth bedroom. My opinion is this cottage could be a real money maker.

Demo day is a big improvement already.  Taking down some trees to improve the view is a great idea, especially the one that's through the balcony/deck. They're taking down the entire fireplace, and putting in a new one on the side wall.   They get a big woodburning stove.   The roof and addition issues are so bad, that Scott will demo the addition, and rebuild so the roofline is all one angle, make the addition structurally sound, and fix the floorplan issues.   Now they have a huge room, looking out on the lake, with much higher ceilings for the living/dining/kitchen.  I really like the design so far.

I love the floating cube with the slide, it looks like fun.   I love the staging on the cottage.   I love the dock and seating areas on the dock and deck.  The cottage exterior is so much better.

Blake is so thrilled about the cottage.   I love the plaid throughout the house. Everything looks so luxurious.   I really like the plaid floor tile in the primary ensuite.    Scott says it should rent for $600 a night.

I agree with everything you said. This was maybe the best episode in all the seasons - great final result without anything weird. I just wish they would give purchase price and reno costs like the other shows do. This one had to be a massively expensive renovation since they nearly tore the place apart.

I hope someone buys that church and gives it the love it needs!

I live in the next county over from the church. It sold in March 2023 for $285k (not sure if it’s ok to post the Zillow listing here.) The previous family had lived there 40 years, having bought it after a group of executives from Better Homes & Gardens transformed it into a home in 1975.

just watched the one with the couple in williamsburg, va,…

was amused by the outfit aunt dara, their realtor, had on when we first met her.... was wondering what acting job as a french maid she was trying out for... i think the cameraman found it amusing too since they showed a lot of shots of her

Agree they intentionally showed a lot of shots of her. It was extra weird since she was standing by the table where the HHs were sitting, even though there was a third chair and bagel/coffee that were clearly hers. Why not just have her sit with them unless production intended to showcase the unique outfit?

    Gloucestershire, UK.
I missed it, what was her new job?

I heard her say real estate…

Despite all her international living, she resisted anything different than how she was living in the U.S. I wouldn’t think England’s small, boxy rooms, hand held showers, and closed off kitchens would be a surprise to someone so worldly. 😉

What's with Dominique's father calling his daughter "Mama"? Does she have children? Or is that one more example of modern slang that is not on my radar?

I came here to say this. Did I miss that she is expecting? Otherwise it seemed odd.

I did appreciate the editors who panned dad’s full outfit, including orange shorts and black socks, after Dominique said he was a style guru. 🙂

  7. I’m so glad this topic got created - I’ve been waiting to chat with others about the last episode (the Scofields). Crazy that the producers had to tell them to stay away during Rico’s work. Then her reaction at the reveal was fascinatingly flat. She opted for a giant closet for her stuff vs paying for her twin daughters’ bedrooms to be finished (so Rico funded that) - maybe producer driven? I’ve read the woman’s FB page about their take on the experience. Worth a read. 🙂

  8. The Richmond couple did seem an odd match. At the end when the wife’s parents “invited themselves for a visit” or whatever she snarked, her mother commented on the matching coffee maker and toaster. The wife said, “it’s called stainless steel, it’s not that hard.”  Wow, show your mom some respect, lady!

The wife also would ask her husband’s opinion, and then immediately give her own before he had a chance to speak. I wonder if she will recognize herself when she watches this.

  9. I liked the arch for the bar area, and it echoed the fireplace arch which worked. But I disliked the arches in the bedroom. And worse, by adding the bed/bath open arch they reduced the separation between bath and bedroom - a huge pet peeve! The sinks were wide open to the bedroom, and It looked like the shower was nearly adjacent.

I’m delighting that Kody tries to sound academic with his big word use, and then got the pronunciation slightly wrong when he said “EM-NITY” instead of enmity. Idiot.

Bible Dictionaries - Easton's Bible Dictionary - Enmity

    Enmity

deep-rooted hatred. "I will put enmity between thee and the woman, between thy seed and her seed" ( Genesis 3:15 ). The friendship of the world is "enmity with God" ( James 4:4 ;  1 John 2:15  1 John 2:16 ). The "carnal mind" is "enmity against God" ( Romans 8:7 ). By the abrogation of the Mosaic institutes the "enmity" between Jew and Gentile is removed. They are reconciled, are "made one" ( Ephesians 2:15 Ephesians 2:16 ).

They all had too much powder on their faces which made their skin look dry and lifeless.

Yes!  Especially Christine…she has forehead lines when she raises her eyebrows, and the heavy powder made this even more pronounced. It was distracting to me. It was unfortunate, because Christine looks terrific post-Kody in other photos.

I will admit I might have screamed when Robyn said something about if nobody wanted to be in the family  she "needed to know". Who died and made her the boss? Meri and Janelle let that one go and I don't understand it.

I loved Robyn’s nonverbal - a really big swallow, eyes flitting everywhere while slowing nodding after Meri said  “Robyn, you know where I stand. I’m still here…blah, blah, blah.”  You know Robyn was thinking “Crap, Meri - he doesn’t want YOU to stay! My question was for Janelle!”

It’s true, by then there really wasn’t anyone left to consider except Janelle. And now we know how/when that turned out. Teehee!

  13. From Janelle’s description of the holiday logistics and the vacation rental they secured, it sounded they would have the rental for several weeks.

If I didn’t know Meri (and her fussiness about her home), I would wonder if Meri was renting them all her huge home in Flag while she holes up at Lizzie’s B & B.

Nothing says family like charging them to stay at your home…

I didn't have the ability to rewind and rewatch anything, so please jump in and correct me if I missed something. But did Meri not say that she was about to address the fact that Kodi has been treating her the same way that he is accusing Christine of treating him? Cut to commercial. Back to the show. And then... *insert balloon deflating* Nothing?

They briefly came back to Meri after the commercial break. She basically said it’s frustrating because what Kody is complaining  Christine did to him - is what he did to Meri. Specifically, that Kody wanted Christine to work on their relationship but Christine didn’t want to. Meri wanted Kody to work on their relationship but Kody didn’t want to.  It was a brief, but pointed, moment.
