About a fourth of my career in mental health has been working with people on the spectrum. I can assure everyone here that being a jerk is not a symptom nor in any way associated with having ASD. Please associate anectodal experiences with the person and not the disorder, as doing the latter only hurts others who are also on the spectrum. Discrimination is real, don’t perpetuate it.

The Tell All mostly reinforced my original assumptions about each couple’s
personality disordersI mean traits. The only person I still like is Asuelo, who I will adopt as my permanent man-child so he can follow me around and say “SHHHH!” whenever someone annoys me.- 10

I'm confused, can't they both look awful?
It was a comment on Leida’s failed attempt to throw Steven under the bus in order to look better. Even Steven isn’t as unlikeable as she is. She’s not going to be able to polish her turd image.

Fernanda is young and naive. I wouldn’t be surprised if it was similar to the Paola situation - someone in the industry sold her a really good fantasy of how great it could be, and she ate it up.

It’s funny that Leida thinks Steven will make her look better because I think most people would choose Steven over her any day. At least he’s not a worthless turd. Steven is a kid himself and still has potential. With a LOT of therapy and hard work, he could really turn things around. Leida is far too old to behave like the spoilt Neanderthal she is, and I’m guessing she has already plateaued in life. Lol

As a therapist I like to think I’m pretty good at predicting these things, but jeez, even I didn’t see it ending that fast. 😂

You're correct, in the main. But chromosomal disorders manifest on a spectrum, with more severe involvement at one end and people whose disorder is discernible only through sophisticated testing at the other. He probably doesn't have Klinefelter (too much body hair I think) but I do believe it's possible. His breasts seem large, out of proportion to what I'd expect from a guy who is fat and inactive. There certainly seems to be no intellectual deficit.
But Klinefelter is far from rare, occurring in about one of every 650 males (https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC5985377/), so it seems to me that there is a chance. Plus, most of the intellectual deficit, when it is present (and it is not always present), occurs in language; Coltee, who started college very late, works with logic and mathematics. Who knows?
My daughter has a rare chromosomal disorder and is significantly disabled as a result. At conferences, however, I have met children with this disorder who pass as typical, and no one would ever suspect anything was out of the ordinary. This is what colors my view of disability in general. I don't know if the same is true of Klinefelter, but it's a thought.
ETA Debbie's remark (which I think she's made more than once), that she "never thought Colt would get married" might be more evidence of KS.
ETA: A singleton liveborn infant with a birth defect 11.5 times more likely to be delivered very preterm before 32 weeks
https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/17666606
I'm going to stop now.
I’ve actually known someone who was XXY. He had some slightly feminine features and was infertile, but did not have intellectual disabilities. He had a very awkward personality and was a little bit like Colt, now that I think about it. He was married to a woman and she didn’t seem to think there was anything odd about his “parts”, but they were obviously unable to have children. My understanding is that most people with that condition are infertile, so I guess we will have to see if Larissa is able to become pregnant with him someday.

Exactly. He kicks the daughter out, doesn't care that she's living with a bunch of different people in what sounds like a fucking flop house, but expects them to be there while she marries someone who thinks he shouldn't pay a dime out to any of his offspring but spend it all on hers. Will be great fun when this mother fucker gets left by Leida after she finds someone with more than a few dollars in his pocket and his daughters shun him for the rest of his existence.
Leida’s next husband might even be able to buy TWO subway sandwiches!

Yikes. I actually find Larissa to display some classic cluster B traits. I’ve been saying “uh oh” since she was first introduced. I think socially inept Colt likely has his own issues as well, so this is and will be one very dysfunctional ride.

Am I seriously hearing Ashley correct right now? This bitch... Beginning of season: "I'm not fat and ugly, so he's definitely not cheating." End of season: But she's faaaaaaaaat, and I am the opposite. He must just like fat chicks."
She's totally rubbing me the wrong way here- I understand she is trying to state a case for her not being his "type," but it just comes off as shallow bullshit.
Oh no, I don’t think she’s simply making a case at all. I fully believe that was a thinly veiled attempt to bash the other woman.

I don't know that the plane ticket conversation would have totally negated him telling her that she could buy all these things once she got here.
And I don't think she is looking for a life of luxury because I think there is a wide gulf between "I'd like a couch and a car with air conditioning" reads the luxuious life. Even the truck she wanted was used IIRC.
She isn't looking for him to buy a brand new Tesla. The stuff she seems to ask for seems maybe upper middle class. Which isn't crazy considering what he had told her, the fact that he is a software engineer* and lives with his mom.
If the engagement ring is gorgeous (I didn't get a good luck) I'd bet good money it's made of a stone ending in "elle"
* I do not know how much software engineers make but it sounds like a fancy pants job.
No doubt Colt is a cheapskate. Definitely no argument there. 😂 I just think Larissa must have had somewhat of an idea that he was going to have budget limits based on the plane ticket conversation. That was a good opportunity for her to find another fish in the sea who would indulge her more before coming all this way for cheap Colt. I also question her understanding of currency conversion into USD. She seems to think some amounts are “cheapie” when they definitely are not! Lol. But that will come with time.

I don’t think Colt hid the fact that there would be a budget when Larissa came to the U.S., as evidenced by the conversation that he could not change her plane ticket because it would cost too much. That should have signaled to her that this was not going to be some life of unlimited luxuries. I’m sure he did say he would buy her things when she arrived, but then again, she has a gorgeous engagement ring now. Again, it’s hard to say what he told her vs. how she chose to interpret it.

I think it’s difficult to judge the John/Larissa fight because we’ve only seen small clips of what happened. Nobody knows what else was said and done behind the scenes to escalate things. Personally, if both my spouse and a relative were behaving badly, I might not join in either because I would be so annoyed that they were acting like children. 😂

I’m still just trying to figure out how Asuelo makes all these babies against Kalani’s will. Or why he would need TWO children to “tie her down”? Oooooorrrrrr, why anyone would call off a wedding because the bride is pregnant with the GROOM’s baby? I fear that poor Asuelo will be the intellectual of this family.

I think Steven’s proposal was a get-out-of-jail-free card for lying about the visa. Come on, man. You’ve been a bully to Olga since you arrived in Russia. Oh how things change when the embassy says that you can’t just steal a baby from his mother!

Amen! As a mental health practitioner who specializes in autism, I would never attempt to assess someone for being on the spectrum via television. People on the spectrum are as varied as people with depression or anxiety. It would be silly to say, “I met two people with depression and they were rude” and infer some sort of pattern. A stereotype is a stereotype, no matter how you justify it. The only way to say if any of these people have autism is to have clinical testing completed.
