As someone who has several African-American friends whose sons have been killed by police, I have to say that it must be nice to live in a bubble.

Bubble? Just from watching the show, it's apparent that cops of all races have to utilize their weapons  because of suspects of all races. In fact, an African American cop got shot by an African American suspect. Where's the outrage about that? Maybe the media only reports what they believe will cause good ratings and we need to realize there are two sides to the story. Im not living in a bubble. I just don't think being a cop is easy and it's easy to judge when we've never done it. If a cop kills anyone other than African American, it's not likely reported. Or, maybe the media shouldn't specify race at all and stick to facts and report all killings by cops. Why does it matter what color anyone's skin is in 2018 ? Do they report and specify when an African American suspect kills a white woman? Not unless they put his picture up and they don't say she's white.

And her stupid parents too.    I remember reading that when the parents were on Dr. Phil, he didn't pay them, but made a huge 'donation' to their foundation, and later I read that her mom gave her the money.       How a man can stay with a woman who supports the daughter who killed the grandbaby, and tried to blame it on her dad, and claimed he molested Casey for years is beyond understanding.        The allegations the defense attorney made against people were despicable, the man who found the body had nothing to do with it, and the fact that he called the police several times before they actually checked out his tip makes me wonder how incompetent they were.     I feel so sorry for the woman that Casey claimed was the babysitter, and hope that she's been able to get her life back.

There are claims that Casey paid her attorney with sexual favors. He was a well known attorney and she nor her family could have afforded him. He knew it was a high profile case and would boost his career but he also knew what he could get from Casey.

My understanding is that Gibson was directing S12E03 and he had a disagreement with a writer- Virgil Williams, who quit the show after S13- over a plot point (and Gibson reacted with a kick, not a punch). It could have been how a character- perhaps Hotch- acted.

Thank you. Well, Gibson may have been right in that he wasn't happy with how his character was being written and now the other actors are afraid to speak up because they saw what resulted....they know the real/whole story. Maybe they are hoping the ratings will show how the viewers feel about the storylines. Characters need depth in order to be believable and for viewers to make that connection. I think it's all unbelievable from the way Prentiss leads the team to the way Garcia dresses ( did you see how low cut her dress was last night?), to the way the team speaks to Reid as if he's a child. So much seems unprofessional to me and it wouldn't be permitted in real life. I wonder if MGG is pursuing other endevors because he knows things we don't or he's not happy there?

I, too, enjoyed "200" mostly because I found it better than the sum of its parts. It was just a fun thrill that sold just enough for it to work, just like "Mayhem" did. I also thought AJ Cook did pretty well since the "damsel in distress" plays more to her strengths.

There was a time, I admit, that I didn't like JJ or Cook, and looking back, it had a lot to do with the writers taking JJ into directions that just didn't fit Cook's strengths. Cook is not a "badass, take no prisoners, supermom", so it was tough for me to accept her in that role. There was also the sense that JJ seemed to "improve" too quickly- they devoted, what, a few episodes in S7 to her training and suddenly she's a kickass agent who knows everything there is to know about profiling, ever? C'mon. That stuff should have taken a few seasons, or, at the very least, be the ongoing story throughout an entire season, and even then, she shouldn't be "the best".

The change for me occurred in S11, after JJ came back from her second pregnancy. That was when they stopped trying to sell JJ as a badass and instead wrote her as a cynical, troubled soul who cares a lot about kids not just because she's a mother but because of her own tortured past with her sister. Now, while I'm not going to call the performance Emmy-worthy, this newer, jaded JJ clicks with me far more than the old one did, not just because she's shed the obvious "Mary Sue"-ness about her character but because I think Cook herself actually feels like she's got something to dig her teeth into. There's this whole "weight of the world" thing that JJ has going for her right now, and Cook seems to be revelling in the thought of exploring it.

I think back to the Barnes arc the show completely dropped the ball on. I'm sure if that were a S7 or S8 arc, JJ would have been unflinching, finding all the information that would have destroyed Barnes, kicking her ass (and several others) and being "the knight in shining armour" to save the day for an otherwise flustered BAU.

Instead, we had a JJ that was clearly in over her head, someone who wanted so desperately to rebel against Barnes only for her attempt to blow up in her face. If the arc wasn't so poorly written, I'd say it would have been her shining moment, since "overwhelmed" JJ is JJ at her best. It's why I rank "Sick Day" (what I consider JJ's true highwater mark) as high as I do- because that episode truly brought out the "weight of the world" JJ that I have so thoroughly enjoyed.

I think the thing for me is that, while I can't support what Thomas Gibson himself did (if I was to punch someone at work, I'd get fired too, and rightly so), the show has truly botched replacing him. I grant that the show was put in between a rock and a hard place by what Gibson did, but what has happened since has been disappointing. I'll give the writers a pass for S12 because I'm sure they were scrambling to figure out how to retool the team and that's not easy to do, but I would have liked to think by the time S13 rolls around they're back to knowing what they're doing.

Quite frankly, it's clear to me that they're not. I understand the writers likely didn't want Prentiss to be a "Hotch 2.0" but the issue is that they don't write her as an effective boss, period. She disciplines characters and then rescinds that discipline in the next episode. She dilly-dallied in assisting a fallen teammate, making him wait in peril when, once she finally got the team into gear, they solved his case rather easily. She is inconsistent with her punishments, letting some of her team "go rogue" while not giving others a pass. She cares very little about actual protocol and procedures, so much that even the most positive of assessments would say she's oblivious to them. She manages the team haphazardly at best, and many times it feels like she has no control over them. Her case management is just as bad, since her decisions are random and she does very little to interact with the locals...unless they're a love interest, that is.

I could go on, but I think I've made my point.

Truth is, I dismiss much of that because of poor writing, which often takes me right out of the episodes. Lately, more often than not, CM has been guided by the "because, plot" mentality of writing that nothing at all feels real, and Prentiss is merely just a part of that. There is no consistency because the writers now simply don't care for it and are hoping we don't notice when we do. Even if these episodes had Hotch instead of Prentiss, they likely wouldn't improve by much because the writing problems are still there.

Having said that, I do believe Thomas Gibson sold being a leader more than Paget Brewster ever has. Maybe part of that is that Brewster is confused and doesn't really know how to play her character anymore (who does these days on CM?), because it confounds me that someone who I believed should be leadership material (Prentiss) is flopping so badly at it. I can only speculate and believe that Brewster has far less input into her character than Gibson does, which is why she just "goes with the flow" and doesn't challenge the writers when her character behaves in strange ways. Brewster, in interviews, always felt like a "free spirit" and I would guess it's not in her nature to "rock the boat"- her nature is to "go with it" and, if things get tough, find another gig because the stress of fighting is often not worth it. Maybe she- like most of the cast, I bet- feel that CM is on their last legs so there's no point getting worked up over their characters or the stories because the show is going to end soon anyway- "might as well pick up the paycheques while we've got 'em", I'm sure they say.

I can only guess. In truth, I don't know if I have a lot of answers other than "it just hasn't worked" when it comes to Prentiss replacing Hotch, since I know Prentiss can be better.

I think you have made a very good point. Maybe these actors are just so thrilled to have a job that they don't challenge the writers about the characters themselves and hope we won't care or notice and just be happy with the storyline. This has me thinking....could that has been what Thomas Gibson was angry about? I don't know who he punched or why.

Since Chip's conviction has been set aside, is he allowed to use modern firearms now?  I hope so.  The episode I saw, where he was trying to shoot ducks with that black-powder gun, was, well, I really felt sorry for him.  He was trying so hard, but he wasn't having very much success.  If he's now allowed to use modern firearms, he'll be better able to help Agnes when they're hunting off tribal lands.

To those who criticize the Hailstones, or any of the other LBZ cast members, for their hunting methods, why don't you try surviving up there?  Since you look down you noses at people like them (subsistence hunters), you probably wouldn't last a month in that environment.  Heaven forbid that you try to eat Rudolph (the Red-nosed Reindeer) or Sammy the Seal or Bugs Bunny or Daffy Duck or ...  That's the trouble with modern society -- we've anthromorphized animals to the point where most people would be unable to supply their own needs in an unforgiving environment.  I'm not claiming that I would be able to live well in that environment, but I'm not squeamish about killing animals for food, and I would be quite willing to seek out advice and assistance from the local residents.

I'd like to see people work on a factory farm and then travel with the animals to the slaughterhouse and then complain about how any of these people choose to live. Animals they hunt live free and have a chance to escape. The people hunting are feeding their families the closest thing to organic you can get anymore. They are self sufficient. No 401k to fall back on in these villages and they take care of each other, something we can all learn from. They also use everything from the animal, just like our ancestors did. What's wrong with that? I love my animals too but we all need to be realistic. Not everyone on the planet sees things the same way. Lions eat meat. It won't stop. Nothing wrong with it and there is nothing wrong with people who eat meat either.

Chip is teaching his children selfishness and  disrespect.  He has instructed his family to "take" it all. Killing animals while they try to cross the river is horrible.  Taking all the eggs, because Chip says they can rob the nests again in a few days.  Chip tries to bark out orders to his family and Agnes acts like he can walk on water. He's lazy. Has no concern about raping the land or conservation.

Coming from someone that gets everything they need from retail establishments who DONT rape the land I suppose? The Hailstones feed and take care of the elders in their village and those unable to hunt and fish. They use meat and fish and skins to barter with which is something we have become unfamiliar with for the most part. Groceries , if they make it to villages unspoiled, are extremely expensive. Refrain from judgement because the exact same can and has been said about how we live in the lower 48. Have you seen what happens on a farm or in a slaughterhouse? Animals have hormones, steroids and antibiotics and have to be vaccinated against who knows what because they live in close quarters and we are expected to eat that crap. How many cases of lettuce recall have there been lately? Farms are nasty. They aren't raping anything.

I still wonder how Glen supports his children. Except for the show which is recent, how is he supporting them while he's out in the woods playing Grizzly Adams. Knowing he has kids, he comes off as a deadbeat dad.

Glenn owns real estate , he's a pilot, he owns several cabins, a plane. Remember these "reality shows" are extremely edited to show you what they want you to think. He has two children from his first marriage, a step daughter which he adopted and a toddler with his partner Trisha. What you see him hunting and harvesting feeds all his kids including his ex wife.

  8. The longer this seriers goes on, the more dramatic and over-the-top Sue has become. Listening to her describe untying a knot in her rope as a "life or death situation" is overkill. The big wigs at Nat Geo may encourage this from her but they end up making her appear more like a social outcast the more descriptive she gets.

He left years ago but it doesn't mean we miss him any less. His hashtag still trends every now and then and that says something more than just "bring him back". The show noticeably went downhill shortly after he left. Yes, it's a tired show but the team got a bit fractured without him. Anyway, let those who miss him be.

I understand that people miss a character. More than that though, I respect the fact that the writers and directors of the show chose not to keep an entitled actor employed that felt it was ok to punch someone when he was angry. That doesn't make for a good work environment or set a good example to anyone. I also believe people would have been more angry if they would have replaced the character with a different actor.

  10. 1) It's been how many years since Hotch has left? Can we move on yet?

    2) The women are either poor actresses or their roles are flat and written poorly. The men's characters seem to have dimension and they find actors that play the role well. The women can't even speak with emotion or crack a smile. It's boring.

    3) I guess they got tired of hearing "Bring Shemar back" so they found a love interest for Emily that sort of looks like him. Lol Good try.

I don't know. I used to like the show and it has nothing to do with characters leaving. Maybe it's the writing? Maybe it's the acting?

I could not believe the guy was running, fired two shots OVER HIS SHOULDER, and hit and killed the two cops chasing him. I can't imagine what the odds were of that happening.

The thing that gets me about this show is how FAST these things happen, especially the guy pulling the knife on the highway and the other guy from the liquor store the cop was following who pulled a gun.

I am glad they are doing this show.  It's from the perspective of the cop and shows how they have to make split second decisions and often when shots are fired, nothing is made of it until it becomes a race issue. It shouldn't be about race, ever!

There is one episode that really confuses me: the one that covers the Theresa Cross Knorr case (abused and murdered two of her three daughters by shooting one and the other locked in a hot closet and set one of them on fire when disposing the body and used her two sons as accomplices).

I saw a Cold Case Files episode about ten years ago that interviewed Terry Knorr (the surviving daughter) and at the end said she died in 2003 from a massive heart attack. However, in the Deadly Women episode that aired years later, she was there telling her tale and it wasn't archived footage or anything. I did a Google search and at that time, it looked like she was still alive given the Facebook page with private pictures of her taken with a computer camera (judging by the quality) that were obviously of her. Then it said she died in 2011.

I just found that really odd.

I thought it was the mom that died not the daughter.

Awful, disappointing.

It's a bit like a "historical" romance come to life. Lol It's been glamorized, you could say. Maybe they saw the success of Downton Abbey and decided to try a different century.

I'm not so sure I'm really liking this goldmine secondary storyline.  I like the focus being on the settlement and the women navigating it.  I don't particularly care about some map of a goldmine that may or may not have led to a man's death that we never saw and don't know.  Also, who is the other English guy that is in the Native American camp?  Not the brother, the other one, and who is he to this whole story.  I've had a hard time following what is going on there.

I really do like Jocelyn and I hope she'll continue to get the better of Farlow and Redwick.  I imagine she has a very dark side and it'll be interesting to see when it finally comes out in full.

So far, I'm loving this show and need to finish up the remaining episodes but I'm afraid of how long my wait will be once I finish this season.

I'm loving the show. I just started watching on PBS and didn't catch it at the beginning of the season so I don't know the characters and the storyline very well. I think I've watched three episodes total and the end of the last one showed Alices first (supposedly dead) husband come back to Jamestown. I hope I can find the episodes I missed and I hope there are other seasons. I love historical dramas. I'm just now watching Downton Abbey.

    http://www.thearcticsounder.com/article/1249noorviks_hailstone_sentenced_seeks_appeal

Chip was indicted and convicted with the Troopers audio, which has interruptions. Do you think the Troopers removed audio because Chip did what they said he did? Or did they remove what would have proven his words true? Why would cops need to edit recordings? I think its plain to see, or hear.

Alaska State Troopers are known as "Nazis". It wouldn't surprise me a bit if Chip is telling the truth. I have a friend that lives outside of Fairbanks in North Pole. He doesn't have nice things to say about Troopers and remember, most villages only have Public Safety Officers that are Natives. Troopers fly in occasionally and when there is trouble.

If it were me, I would have my husband work up a pile of firewood while I work on weatherizing the house, then move onto putting in a trap line and placing an ice net, maybe have him hunt around and find Beaver lodges, clear trails and find signs of animals.

While he is busy, I would finish my skin tanning and get to sewing things for us and Christmas gifts, etc.

Theres nothing weird about going to a camp and settling in for the freeze up, you do what you can when you can. Indians do things their own way for their own reasons, but the Arctic is the Arctic.

Humans would not be alive today if not for the hunter gatherer lifestyle and the Hailstones take care of the elders and others that need food in their village. If she was a child and didn't necessarily like socializing and touching (and she said she doesn't like either of those) then she more than likely would be diagnosed. Many Aspy's are high functioning, extremely intelligent and we know she is. She has college degrees and can run that camp like nobody's business.

I don't think so. She doesn't like how mean people can be but she can function in society and understands norms. My daughter has Asperger's and it has never crossed my mind that Sue might have it.
