  1. It was kind of jarring to go back to Matt after just having had our first season with Allison (who I love). What a great group of bakers, all of whom did really well and (as others have said) were a massive upgrade from the Channel 4 people. I thought for sure Chigs’s showstopper would have won it. That looked straight out of a magazine.

I’m bummed we are a year behind in the US - I want the new holiday episodes next week!

Rob and Corey's relationship is a thing of beauty.

So well said. Watching Rob absolutely geek out in the glider (and then history geek out over NATO?!), and watching Corey be so happy for his moments of glory, was such a treat. And a blessed relief from the other parent-child team. If I spoke to my dad like that, regardless of stress or circumstance, I would be not long for this world. It would truly never occur to me to speak to one of my parents like that. (Or anyone, really.)

I was feeling a mega leg up until the very end, so it was a pleasant surprise when the episode ended with an actual elimination. It feels like they have been brutal and very demanding legs of late.

The sound of “Lena!” yelled over and over again might be seared into my brain for a while, but I still liked the sisters. It’s funny how of the remaining teams I have a VERY strong preference for the 3 all male teams.

It seems as though every week, there's some sort of speculation that Tasha is using her disability to gain an edge, which isn't fair to Tasha or the entire tone and tenor of this show.

This, a million times over. It’s disheartening to see the myriad ways ableism plays out in the tent as well as in life.

I thought Josh was the sure winner, was not at all prepared for Dan’s name to be called. It was Saku’s time and yet she will still be so very missed.

  4. Team Kellie and/or Austin, for sure. Kaleb will be very missed but he and Jake misplayed that situation with Katurah and it bit them in the ass.

Bruce is getting an absolutely horrific edit; I can’t imagine how annoying he must have actually been for them to do him like this after all the hype around his return.

  5. I thought it was for sure Matty’s week to go, they threw me for a loop with Dana. (To be fair it seemed like a coin toss between the two based on judges comments and my own eyeballs.)

Thrilled for Josh. He is a great baker with such a quiet but strong presence. And I still adore Tasha - I will be sad if the two of them don’t make it to the end.

  6. Sifu seems like he’s trying too hard and still getting next to no screen time, while Bruce is going to annoy his way right out of the game. Settle down, my dudes!

Kaleb is so good at this, it will be interesting to see if this gives him a second chance at life or if they’re just going to come right after him again.

I like Julie too. She is mostly invisible, but I like her.

  7. Nicky and Rowan are delightful humans. I can’t imagine what it would feel like in the tent to lose them both at once, but it seemed as a viewer very obvious that’s what was going to happen.

Josh’s sunflower pie(s) was stunning. It was very sweet to hear him talk about his relationship with his grandmother, and I’m glad he did so well with this bake.

I still think Josh, Tasha, and Dan (I think that’s his name?!) seem to be a tier above the rest.

I know Anna Leigh isn't everyone's favorite, but I kinda love that the Team To Beat is the older fella and the tiniest person in the race, and that the tiny person is the one leading the charge.

That tiny person is seriously In Charge. I do appreciate seeing a father/daughter team do so well despite her rather, ah, strong personality. The foreshadowing was coming on strong that they are likely to be U turned or whatever we’re calling it. Editors also seems to drop some hints about other teams at risk; my hope is Corey & Rob having a rough day and being so damn likable spares them next week.

The painting recreation was a brutal task for tired racers who aren’t great at paying attention to itty bitty details.
