There's also Lillie Ann Dawson who someone discovered recently.
Tiktok: @lillieanndawson
IG: @lillieanndawsonI don't recall seeing prep classes outdoors (although I admit that I don't keep up with DCC outside of the auditions/games). Is this a safety protocol in the Covid era? I can see a lot of advantages for taking a prep class on the field because it gives the dancer the feeling of dancing on the field surface.

That's just rehashing the same stuff we have seen over and over again on MTT, like with Meredith. She would have to have a dramatic improvement for me to think she earned a spot over the others - I am kinda over DCC taking on weaker dancers just because they liked them.
I am partial to Ashley. Something about her captured my heart. But she was not a strong enough dancer to make the team and I agree 100% with what you said... do not invite her back if she is still a weak dancer. It's not fair to her.

Another new topic -
What all-stars will be in and out?
Danielle and Lacey are both having babies - seems like they are out. Although it is possible to have the baby and return by fall.
Amy and Maddie are filling in on the field still. I have a feeling they will both return.
Then there is Khalyn, Stephanie, Alexis, Cici, Briana, Savannah (did I miss any?)
Khalyn and Stephanie have been doing this awhile now. I wonder if they will continue?
Next season I hope they add a whole slew of retiring vets that will also do field performance. I doubt next season is going to be much different than this year, so they should plan for having to isolate a chunk of the team again 🤔 and I would love to see a few retired vets perform again. I have a feeling this is not the year they are finally going to change Thunderstruck.I love Khalyn. She was always one of my favorites during her tenure and I could have seen her at point. But as you said, she's been doing this for awhile and she will likely retire from All-Stars.
For some reason (no insider info, just a guess), I think there will be a lot of retirements from all-stars. There will be plenty of retiring vets to fill-in the gap.
Predictions for new year's all-stars: Amy, Maddie, Amber, Lexie, Ashlee, Rachel W., Gina (the last three if they retire from the team).

Something tells me that nothing (not even an act of God) would have kept Tina Kalina from performing on that field today.

I think they were just searching for a "reason" to cut her. To be fair it's probably the right call and I doubt she'll be back.
Ava was not one of my favorites and I don't disagree with her cut. With that said, I agree that they were looking for a "reason" to cut her. I also think that her cut was entirely for the show and not for the team.

What immediately caught my attention when seeing this visual line-up of the team.... There are only 14 vets on the team who have ever done the full field game performances. The other 22 are either returning rookies (now 2nd year vets) or new rookies. Granted there were injury-related hiatuses/retirements, but it is impossible to ignore that there are fewer and fewer girls going for 3, 4, 5 years.

I think Haley could pull it off. No clue to what extent she has danced herself, but not like Kelli 1) always picks the best trained dancers 2) ever gets up to demo herself 3) could keep up with these girls today if she tried. Even if she had her 1980s body back. They're on a whole different level way past the cornball dances from Kelli's days.
But can Haley tie the perfect knot on the uniform blouse? Kelly mentions her knot-tying expertise every season, so surely that is part of the interview process.

Okay, I'll bite. The top ten names that come to mind for the new assistant director position (in no particular order):
1. Victoria Kalina
2. Tina Kalina
3. The Two-Time Mirror Ball Trophy Winner (MRS)
4. Cassie Trammel
5. Phil
6. Kashara
7. Maddie
8. Haley Anderson
9. Rowdy
10. Kitty Carter's Hairdresser
If I've learned anything in all of these seasons, it's that opportunities come based on who you know, not what you know or how well you know it.

The field entrance has always reminded me of things the color guard would do in high school marching band - a 4 step to five yards step size, toe first, ball of the foot on the line. We would call it a jazz run, and the band would have to learn it too. It's fairly difficult to get your first couple times doing it, but to me, there is absolutely no reason why someone couldn't learn it in a couple of hours. Add in the (what seems to me, but I could be totally wrong, because I'm not a dancer) basic arm movements, and the only thing I have ever been able to think of is "either these girls are so stressed they have forgotten how to count to four and breathe or this is extremely overhyped for the sake of a tv camera."
Yes, I was in color guard / drill team in high school as well. We had the 8 to 5 walk (8 steps to cover 5 yards) and the 4 to 5 run (4 steps to cover 5 yards). If I could get it, and everyone in my high school color guard and band could get it, then someone trying out for the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders world-class team should definitely be able to get it.

Okay, then. I have the teapot, teacups, teaspoons, napkins, placemats, cream and sugar ready. I'm assuming you're bringing the actual tea? With an introduction like that, we're expecting refills.

What great All Stars! Khalyn is one of my faves!
Khalyn is one of my all-time faves too. I would have loved to see her at point if she had stayed (over the Maddie/Amy duo).

OMG YES JALYN! I’m shocked that Kelcey isn’t a second
Yes! Justice for Jalyn! She and Ashlee were my two favorites from their rookie year (so happy to see Ashlee as 2GL too). IDK if the rumors about Jalyn getting on VK's bad side were true, or if KF just wanted the drama of cutting Jalyn from SG... whatever the reason, it was wrong. Jalyn has always been a SG-level dancer. I'm so happy for her that she's now officially in a leadership role. I'm also going to consider this an admission of wrongdoing and a full apology from KF because I know this is the closest that we'll ever get to that.

So I think injury is either Taylor j or Kristin And the one that walked away I’m saying alora rose
Sadly, Kristin should be counting her blessings if she's leaving due to injury. It would not surprise me one iota for KF to get down to 37 girls, then cut Kristin for the drama of cutting a vet to make a team of 36. Kristin has always been one of the weakest on the team and since no vets have been cut, I'd say she's at the top of the vulnerability list.

If they are just posting random stuff to “keep us guessing” or “mess” with us, then I’m done with this show. I know some fans like the cat&mouse games or don’t want to be spoiled even though the show airs weeks after the first games. But I’m getting too old for this shit.
Ditto. This is cheerleading, not The Hunger Games. The fandom does not exist for the pleasure and entertainment of TPTB.

While the concern expressed may be coming from a place of compassion, to call Gina a poor role model is uncalled for and frankly untrue. Gina is a great role model; she's an incredibly hard worker and makes it a point to treat EVERY fan with warmth and respect.
I agree with you that Gina is a fantastic role model. She's gracious to everyone she meets and she's clearly a good teammate (you don't win VOTY for no reason).
Is it possible that "poor role model" in the original post by LemonBus was just a bad choice of words? Could it be that some DCCs expressed concern about Gina's tiny frame being an unrealistic body image for young girls, but they meant no judgment or criticism to Gina's character? I'm just wondering if the rift between LemonBus & Dr. M. is more about word choice and miscommunication than any real drama among the DCCs.

The board that can be changed how ever they want to justify who to cut as long as it fits their story line
I will become a lot more interested and invested in this year's squad if MTT gives us bios on the rookies (heck, I'd take bios on the returning 1st-year vets because I don't even really know any of them) and dancing. That's it. Bios and dancing. I'm down for the makeovers and GL/SG/Point announcements too.
But they can cut-out Melissa the Mentor, the build-up to Kitty Carter as a blunt speaker of truth, and the 847th sound byte from Kelli about tradition.
P.S. - I went off on my rant and forgot to mention why I was quoting Holly85's post! You totally nailed it. That board represents a storyline. They are writing a narrative. But I'd rather watch a documentary of the audition/training camp process.

The blonde is me 2 Taylor !! And yes that’s Dayton
Ahhhhh, Dayton! There was a discussion in this thread (or some thread... LOL) about DCC losing out on quality candidates because the candidate does not want the drama of the show. I would put Dayton in that category. She had wonderful potential as a DCC, but if I recall correctly, her mom reported that she would not audition again as long as MTT was part of the deal. I would wager to bet that there are many, many girls who feel the same way. They love to dance, they want to be part of DCC, but they don't want to be exploited for ratings.

I count 25. There are 3 rows of vets, but Kristin is kind of in her own row between the back and middle row. Also, Armani and Kelcey have their heads touching, it would be easy to count them as one person. Are you seeing Madeline to the right of Rachel and Judy or is she cut out?
Ah-hah! I skipped Kristin. She's never been that memorable to me, so I guess that's why I missed her.

2021-2022 Squad
in S16
I LOVE when Kristin signs. She's never been one of my favorite DCCs, but the fact that she can help make the game day experience more inclusive to the deaf community warrants her spot on the team IMO.
Thank you for posting! I don't understand the selection of Rachel W. for point in this routine (second formation). I think Rachel W. is beautiful and a very talented dancer, but she is easily out-danced in hiphop. Ashlee and her should have been switched. JMrightO. :-)
