  1. DIRGE, I have to say, I love your name!  Many years ago a friend nicknamed my Mother Dorthy, Dirge, and we called her Dirge for decades, she even had a personalized lic plate for her blue vintage TBird.   I have to admit we had no idea at the beginning of the nickname what it meant, and it was mainly just a rhyming thing.  So, thank you for bringing a smile to me everytime I see you posting.

  2. I didn't finish the garage build.

First off, the owner's house is huge. Why is the whole family trying to jam themselves into a small above garage room, with no chance of keeping it warm.  Get rid of that huge opening from the garage area, and make more space upstairs.   I am saying this from personal experience.   There's no way to make it year-round usable without spending way too much for heating that bottom area too.  New England winters are brutal. JMHO of course.

  3. I really liked the Royal Oak, Michigan episode.  She probably is a mom substitute, but good on them, they look like they have a lot of fun together.

Hope he finds his perfect match, but if not, he has a loyal and fun friend.

I don't know how those two friends ever thought buying a vacation home together was a good idea. Money has ruined more friendships than anything else, I would guess.

At least they were able to salvage their friendship in the end.

Indeed.  I didn't quite figure out how the bought out couple didn't understand the whole situation.  Looked like that house was in disastrous shape, and why didn't an inspector see most of those problems?  The bought out couple were the most fortunate in this situation.  I am very happy they were able to salvage the friendship, 6 months isn't too bad for that situation, and now both will have a home on the island.  Very happy for all of them.

I remember them.   They bought twice in town I think, a huge townhouse, or single family, and they either had a ranch house, or moved from it, I don't remember.

I found an article about them, and their house purchases.

    https://www.baltimoresun.com/2016/01/15/hgtvs-house-hunters-to-feature-frederick-couples-search-for-new-home/

They have salons in Frederick, MD, and Charleston.     They seem to be doing very well, and I'm so happy to read that about them.

Awesome!  I couldn't read the article, because I don't subscribe, but, so happy to hear that they are still together.  Thank you so much CrazyinAlabama for sharing the information.

I still remember a woman who bought a quirky shaped house in L.A., sold a few years later for well over double the purchase price plus reno, moved to Nashville and bought a place, then married and they bought a place over a river on a hillside.     That's the only 3 time appearance of anyone.   Then there was the former baseball player buying the mansion in Phoenix (I think Phoenix, a desert area), and then bought a place in Mexico on the HHI version.   I think there was a man who bought in Telluride, and then bought a place in Key West that was huge.

I bet there would be a lot more buying a home, and a vacation place, that could be on the show.

I enjoy watching the older reruns, and seeing how the taste changes over time.

There were the couple who were hairdressers and dating, she bought a small place for herself, then they got married and had a baby and bought a place, then they bought a get away place in Charleston I think, plus they had a cute little Chihuahua.  That was several years ago, I often wonder what happened to them.

  7. Praying for more episodes!  I agree, I cannot believe that house is Jeff's forever house.   It really seemed like a very nice Mansion from back in the day, that has been stripped down to blah.  Even with the historical society being on top of it.  Sorry guys, you should have been around when the place was grand, because Jeff got it after the nice features were stripped out.

  8. I miss the good old days of TWOP.  Or was it TWOT?  Tears or pain is the question.   Are there other places like that?

I am not going to turn anyone in for questioning older couples with no kids in the house buying a huge house.  We did just that, and we simply and really wanted to host more indoor parties for our family, and I wanted to showcase my antique collections in a huge 4000 sq ft house, not a 1200 sq ft mid century rambler on lots of acreage with a barn.   We were too old to take care of all the care the property required.  And we simply wanted acreage inside the house, not outside.   We also lived in the smaller home so that our children had lots of room to roam, and all the farm pets they could desire, and care for.  So, that is a reasonable reply to why older people don't mind having a large un kidded home.  Also now out of town relatives may stay with us and not a hotel, and some of our children have had to come stay with us after divorce, or change of jobs and apts.  It really has worked out very well.

  9. The excop and techie to Cabo was kind of sad to me to be honest.  They must have never had any children, and didn't seem to have any family or friends.  I never heard them say anything about, oh when our friends come down...the inlaws would love this.  I can only imagine because of her work, they didn't mention anyone else to protect them, but, the show isn't mandatory.  Added...not even a pet.  Just odd.

Hubby and I watch mostly to snark (30 year olds saying they have worked so hard to deserve $$ house and hunters that claim a white house must be a modern farmhouse). We also guess which house is chosen. I'm right prob 60% of the time, he's less than 50%. It's a harmless show we have fun with.

I wish I could get Mr Pine to watch with me.  We do watch Project Runway together.  He is very mechanical minded,so he likes to see the challenge and the results.  With Tim and Heidi in their own show, we have more to watch.

  11. Isn't this the same 5th Avenue that HHI guy with a wife and kids wanted to live on, so that he could do street filming?  Maybe he wiill catch Shawna walking around town.

I didn't understand street filming until my husband showed me all the YouTube videos of people who make it seem like you are actually walking through say, the streets of London at Christmas.  It is an interesting concept, but, how do you make money doing it?

Just watched the Melonie Haller ep.  I remember her from Welcome Back, Kotter and the magazine pictorial but I wasn't aware of what happened to her subsequently; based on the show's premise and title, I assumed that she'd been murdered, which I'm sure was the intent.  Glad she lived to tell the tale.

The Playboy connection is the weakest one we've had this season -

      Hide contents

the only murder was the guy who owned the house she was assaulted in, and the only connection he had was as a Hefner wannabe.

I also remember Jeana (Tomasino) Keough from first several seasons of The Real Housewives of Orange County back in the mid '80's.  She looks better now than she did then; ah, the magic of Hollywood.

So surprised at how great Jeana Keough looked.

They didn't mention that Melonie's date was also murdered with his new girlfriend,  and no convictions.
