Well, I could actually see how the realization that she spent $40,000 on shoes over the years would be so shocking that she wouldn't even really consider it. $4000 is a much more reasonable number.
As I recall the scene, when confronted with these two numbers:
- 100 pairs of shoes
- $400 per pair
Carrie initially concluded that she had spent $4,000 on shoes. And this from the woman who had the temerity to call Natasha an idiot because she had mistaken there/their in a thank you note -- a note that she went to the bother of hand-writing, by the way.
that doesn't excuse it but I can relate to herI related to (or at least understood) Carrie's fling with Big, at least initially. Where she lost me is when she continued to see him after Charlottle pointed out (and Carrie agreed) how Carrie would hate someone doing to Charlotte what Carrie was doing to Natasha. Top that off with sex in Big's marital bed and lolling around afterwords -- there are no words.

I can only rewatch what HBO makes available through Comcast on Demand. That's currently S1 and S2, but I'm not sure for how long. (Unless you know of a free online site.)

Much of next season could be devoted to Leslie's pregnancy, and Ben's accompanying spreadsheets.

The Atlantic actually has an article today about the increased rate of twins, which are relatively common (about 1 in 60 pregnancies these days). If one-in-8,000 is correct, then triples are much more rare, as one would expect. I'd imagine this factor holds applies to triplets as well as twins:
Older women tend to have more twins than younger women—and older women are having more of the nation's babies. The researchers found this demographic phenomenon accounted for one-third of the increase.

I just love Keegan-Michael Key in whatever he does.
I knew I'd seen him somewhere recently, playing another annoyingly upbeat character. He was the guest reverend on The Middle (The Hungry Games). Good casting choice. I enjoyed Donna's response that she'd wear the red thing when he deserved it.

I wasn't familiar with Goggins until I started streaming Justified earlier this year (though he had been in Lincoln, I didn't make the connection until seeing his credits on IMDb).
Here is a great conversation between Goggins and Olyphant!

Diane's line about excusing herself to "go scrape the bugs off my teeth" after her motorcycle ride with Andy Andy always tickled me.

I admired the Miranda who bluntly asked the group if they could talk about something besides boyfriends and sex, and who made snarky comments.
Seconded!

Oh, I didn't mean to disparage Chris Noth (though I'm sure it sounded that way). I'd just gotten accustomed to seeing his current self on TGW, and was kind of stunned when I saw his 15-years-ago self on SatC.

Josh Charles should do more comedy. This bit with Amy Schumer is hilarious!

Caught some S2 episodes recently, and my god, did Chris Noth ever look hot, hot, hot. It's a little difficult to remember, in light of how he looks now on The Good Wife.

Excellent episode. For me, it was almost on par with Hard Ball from the first season of 30 Rock, which remains my all-time favorite sitcom episode.

The top two attorneys from each of two firms in court for a divorce hearing? Yeah, right.

In the book, the fact that Amy was about 5 years older than Nick seemed pretty important to their dynamic, so it disappoints me that Hollywood reverts to the usual older male/younger female pairing. The Amy Adams/Ryan Gosling pairing would actually be age-appropriate.
At any rate, it's not a movie I'll rush to see in a theater. I enjoyed the first third of the book quite a lot, the middle section a bit less so, and the ending not. at. all.

It's weird to me that Leslie would be surprised by a pregnancy, since you'd think she'd have a three ring binder dedicated strictly to her fertility and would be contracepting like a boss if she didn't plan on having a child yet.
Seems out of character to me, too, but I'll let it slide for the sweet way it built to Leslie and Ben's closing scene.
Sex And The City - General Discussion
in Sex And The City
I get that. Similarly, I know many very smart, math-oriented people who mistake their/there, as Natasha did. Yet Carrie felt smugly superior because of that. I'm just sayin', glass houses and all... :-)
