The author does go on to give Tommy his due. The problem is not with any individual winner but rather the overall trend (which imo has been either caused or influenced by changes to the show. More HIIs, the fire-making challenge, even going back to the change from primarily an F2 to an F3 seems to have had an effect.)

Oh good grief.  So how do you propose "fixing" this??  And wouldn't it be just as sexist to make this same statement if there had been 11/14 female winners???  I'm sorry but a quote from EW doesn't make ANYTHING "significant".

  2. I feel so badly for Abbie.  I never had one tinge of morning sickness in four pregnancies so I cannot relate but it sounds just miserable.  I also had a midwife for each of my deliveries but was smart enough to go to the hospital.

Side note:  were JD and Abbie living in a shipping container?? All the other--younger and seemingly unemployed or, at the very least, underemployed--siblings have gorgeous, mostly new or remodeled, single homes.  How did JD and Abbie luck out with that metal box???

Lauren is beyond the pale to me.  I do like Kendra, but her teeth are reminiscent of ultra white chiclets to me and I can't look at anything else when she's talking.

if my future mother-in-law had said if you have alcohol at your wedding no one on my side will come, I would have said we will miss you.

Yup!  A statement like that is just a "penny in the do-it bank"!  LOL!

Baby Jack needs to lose the hat.  They always do this in TV land, keeping the newborn hat on way too long.  Yes, he's a preemie but he's six months old now and unless it is cold outside or overly cool inside, he doesn't need one.  And definitely not while sleeping, it can be a hazard.  #losethehat

I'm with you!  The hat was waaayyy too small.  And, I've noticed that almost ALL TV babies wear hats.  I've finally decided that it's probably because they're actually using different babies with different hair, etc, (because of child labor laws and amount of time they're allowed to be on air) and the hats help to disguise the fact that one baby may have brown hair, one may have no hair, etc.  That's the only explanation I can think of for the ridiculous use of hats on babies on TV/movies.

  5. I know I need to let it go--it's not going to change, but the appalling medical errors/oversights in this drama make me itchy!  I'm not a doctor, nurse, or anything close so I can't imagine how it must bug them but......

Woman A is injured in basement explosion and requires surgery that cuts her from stem to stern.  Then, it's discovered Woman A also has a brain tumor, requiring surgery in which her entire head is splayed open to remove it.  Cut to Woman A, laying comfortably in a hospital bed.  She's not hooked up to one machine.  She doesn't appear to be sedated at all.  She has one small bandage around her head that looks like it was applied by a middle schooler, maybe, and she is chatty happily with the doctors???  And we're supposed to believe that???

This show is losing steam for me real quick.

  6. Jill and Jinger wear pants all the time now--as do all the Bates girls who have married.  I don't think any other Duggar girls or wives wear pants though.  Jill even wears shorts and jeans with holes in them!  And she has her nose pierced.  It's refreshing, actually, but I do have to say, out of all the girls, I would have NEVER suspected Jill would be the one to buck tradition and go against her daddy.

Grandma Duggar's passing was all over their IG accounts and social media.  It was very strange at first, but then later I read that she had a stroke or heart attack and was found in the pool.  Very sad.

I'm not minding the Teen Tournament.  They get more questions right than I do.

Is it just me (certainly no pinnacle of intelligence, but I do all right) or do these questions seem ridiculously easy, especially FH??? I think they are doing these obviously VERY BRIGHT kids a disservice.  Come on, Jeopardy! writers, give them some REAL questions!

    eally? I seem to recall that the daughter's name isn't mentioned anywhere in the New Testament;

Definitely a Bible name. In fact, there were TWO in the Bible.  ETA:  only one is named in the text.  Not sure how they arrived at the conclusion that the other was named Salome?

    https://www.gotquestions.org/Salome-in-the-Bible.html

Definitely not a well-known Bible name and definitely one I would not personally choose.  Would be interesting to know how her parents came to choose it and also to know how she feels about it.  My name is one of the most popular of all-time, so I imagine it might be fun to have a more unique name.

  9. I would like to know how all these moms of many multiples (Outdaughtered, Sweet Home Sextuplets) are so skinny and thin afterward??  I had four separate single births and, while I'm tall and thin, I certainly didn't look like either of these women, who've had so many babies.  It boggles the mind!

I would have been proud to have a sneer at Alex shown on camera.   I did come close to making a snarky remark to him.

I probably should have been more clear.  I meant that she'd probably like to take it back because of all the discussion/criticism that has ensued.  She seems like the type of person who would prefer NOT to be in the limelight which, as we all know, isn't gonna happen now! LOL

  11. I thought the whole Alex-Emma interchange last night was awkward.  Alex shouldn't have mentioned Nancy Zerg or made the interaction all about James.  I can understand Emma's sneer, although I'd be willing to bet she'd like to have a second take on that.

All that being said, I don't like her.  She has zero personality and she comes off as arrogant and sanctimonious.  Although, to be fair, I thought James was arrogant at first, too, and he grew on me.  But I won't be disappointed if Emma doesn't have the time to grow on me!

His final wager was lame. In the end, he didn’t beat Jennings in total or wins.

I was upset to read the spoiler on the Jeopardy! Facebook page of all places.  Read lots of comments wondering if James lost on purpose out of respect for Ken Jennings?? His performance did seem "off" tonight for sure.  It was a great run!  Best of luck to you, James!  Thanks for the memories!

  13. I love this sweet family but I definitely agree that the puppies' entrance and Gerry watching the kids was staged.  I guess some things have to be or no one would care to watch.

It's interesting to me that the money issue/selling the land is coming up again.  Last year, they seemed very concerned about money/health insurance/etc.  But, those boys and dad are wearing Vineyard Vines and Under Armour Clothing, neither of which is cheap.  So maybe the money woes have been resolved??? Or maybe VV and UA are sponsoring the show?? I did notice that the clothing labels weren't covered but the Apple symbol on the computer beside their bed was taped over.

I’ll continue watching to see how long he lasts & who finally beats him.

Every night, I look at my husband and say "How the heck is he EVER gonna lose??" I can't imagine him losing at this point.

I was talking about how James is getting away with shoutouts to loved ones and favorite places, which he sneaks in.

I have wondered about this as well.  Why is saying "Hi Natasha" not considered his answer?? At the very least, he should wait to say it until AFTER he gives the correct response.

What's odd for me is that, like Simon, his face always seems to be a touch out of focus - a little fuzzy, but I'm guessing that's related to my mild case of face blindness.

This is what I meant when I said it almost looks like he has an Instagram/Snapchat filter over his face at all times!  His skin is just tooo perfect!

Local widespread cable/internet outage in our area yesterday so didn't get to watch and the DVR didn't record either.  Looking forward to tuning in tonight!

She was fine but WTH was that thing around her neck?  Was it part of her shirt?  A necklace?  It was very distracting.

    I still don't like him, either.  I guess it's just us, @lb60.

And me!  Don't like him either but have got to respect his knowledge and game play.  He's still smug and, as the winnings go up, I think the arrogance does as well.

On another note, James doesn't remind me of anyone, necessarily, but I'd love to know his skin care regimen.  His skin is flawless-although he does look to be wearing quite a bit of makeup.  He looks more "unnatural" than most other contestants--almost like there's an Instagram filter over his face at all times.

  19. Good riddance to Kovid!  Why did he get so much air time??  There are other interesting designers with interesting stories!  Now maybe we'll get to hear from/about some other designers.

I'm glad Bishme won.  We lived in Baltimore for 15 years, and I know the Greenmount area well.  I thought he did a great job and deserved the win!

Yeah, you gotta let go of logic and knowledge with these dramas. It's hard. I'm still working through it myself.

I'm not sure I can keep watching.  Some of the medical stuff is just utterly ridiculous.  People walking in and out of supposed-sterile ERs in street clothes with no masks, etc.  (and this happens all the time on this show when there's NO blizzard).  Also, the guy with the spike in his chest is practically sitting up, not connected to any tubes or even, in ICU, after that surgery???  I can suspend logic for a bit but this is just ridiculous.  Not sure the story lines can keep me interested enough to ignore all the medical gaffes.  Surely someone could do a better job at at least making it look semi-believable.

The new champ is really off-putting but I can’t explain why.  I will say that he was apparently attempting to be gracious, and the lady in the middle was not having it.  She was a little rude, TBH.

I do feel if you add extra shit to your FJ answer like “happy birthday Jack” you should not be credited with a correct answer, because your extraneous nonsense isn’t part of the right response, now is it?

He's smug.  And the extra words bother me, too.  The blown kiss and heart tapping last night were particularly cringe-worthy.

And don't get me started on the clue hoping.  Drives me nuts.

  22. Kovid makes me crazy.  The "lilt" of his voice is so grading.

What's with Christian and Marni (?) giving so much direction in the work room??  Has that every happened before.

Hester's outfit was "meh".  Definitely reminded me of a tablecloth.  And she is beyond annoying--almost as annoying as Tessa.

Finally figured out who Hester reminds me of though.

I know she needed a new way to launder the money,

Beth needs some help from Walter or Skylar White!  They can tell her all she needs to know about money laundering.  Maybe she should buy a car wash! 😉  It would be funny if they had her watching old episodes of "Breaking Bad".  Of course, she is no where near the caliber of WW but you know what I mean!
