  1. Hallie Jackson is the worse, she thinks in her mind she is all that and that she is hardcore journalist. I am no fan of Omarosa but I saw how Hallie Jackson acting like she outsmart Omarosa and she just laughed at Hallie. Hallie is the worse one, she is rude, not that smart and talks way too fast. The women on Fox News are better presenters then the MSNBC women.
  2. I read from insiders that NBC management does not see him going back to NBC network. He is really a parody of a news anchor now, to me he is something to laugh at.
  3. I don't understand it either, and yet they banned Ann Curry from television when she did nothing wrong, I read that they did not want to give a huge severance package which is why they decided to downgrade him to MSNBC.
  4. Lester Holt is my favorite too, he is very cool. I could listen to him talk all day. He respects his audience and does not talk down to them. Can't say the same thing for guys like Joe Scarbourough, Chuck Todd, Craig Melvin, and Chris Cumo. Though I like Chris when he engages with politicians, as a host, he talks down to his audience. As for CBS do you mean Scott Pelley or Jeff Glor?
  5. Well MSNBC is trying to go back to their roots and be more hard hitting and reporter based network like they were in the early 2000s. The only legit all around on MSNBC is Chris Jansing, she is both a reporter and anchor. They are trying to turn Hallie Jackson into one but she lacks good synch qualities and she tends to talk to fast and ramble when she is not on script. Kristen Welker is the best reporter out the bunch cause she stays on message and never loses her emotional train when she is talking. Good anchors are a dime a dozen nowadays cause it is very easy to put your opinion on things and some of these reporters tend to show their color reporting at times. What I mean is saying things that is not really necessary,It is real skill to report without being animated and keeping audience attention cause when you are on camera you are always under pressure. Also the use of language is so important, not many hosts have that ability to cut through the meat in reporting a story. Good anchors I recommend that are good, synch and don't waste time is Lester Holt, Chris Jansing, and I know they are not popular on this forum but there are some good non partisan anchors on Fox like Harris Faulkner.
  6. I watch Stephanie Ruhle then I change the channel . Stephanie Ruhle can be too much too but I give her a slight pass cause I know she is not a trained journalist and got into the field late and has not been doing it long enough. She is very new when it comes to covering politics. However, that detachment from not being a long time journalist makes her refreshing in certain increments. Hallie makes me very uncomfortable cause she talks too fast, and she thinks in her mind she is some hard hitting journalist. These young reporters at MSNBC are overrated except for Kristen Welker and Kasie Hunt. I agree her constant "mmmmm's" is very irritating and disrespectful. Does she have any tv consultants cause she looks like a fool doing that. Hallie Jackson's fast rise is very puzzling, she subbed for Kate Snow on Nightly News a week ago. I don't know what she is doing to get such a fast rise cause she was a low level reporter covering trivial news then she got the beat of a lifetime covering 2016 election and then she got promoted as Chief White House correspondent over long time veterans like Kristen Welker, Peter Alexander and even Chris Jansing. She looks good in front the cameras but she is emotionally immature and gets rattled very easily when she is challenged.
  7. Ari is really not that cool, I remember his days during The Cycle and he was nothing but a legal guy. To me he reminds of of those suburban guys who think it is cute acting hip among his friends and in his house. However put him around some real hip hop artists or guys who definitely got swag he would be a lost deer. Speaking of Ari, I have a feeling that there is some tension between him and Stephanie Ruhle. When I see those two together, Stephanie gets kind of irritated with Ari. I saw those something weeks ago going at and Stephanie indirectly told her guests that Ario thinks he is the only hip star on the network and it is not so.
  8. If I was head of MSNBC, I would bring back Toure in a heartbeat. He was not bad in fact he lit up the daytime lineup alongside Krystal Ball on The Cycle. Ari really thinks he is hip but he is really suburban. The only thing helping Ari is that he has a legal beat and we have a US President who has a lot of legal conflicts of interest. Would you much rather watch the former attorney or a regular journalist give you the legal scoop.
  9. They should give Johnathan Capehart a chance. I always liked him and felt that they were to quick to get rid of some of the African American hosts. Melissa Harris Perry was cooky but Toure should've stayed. Toure can build a audience since he is in tune with the young demographic. Ari Melber ain't doing it for me with the hip hop obsession, in fact he took at lot of Toure's style when they use to be on The Cycle together. Ari trying to be hip is cringeworthy. If Nicole Wallace can get her own show then why not Johnathan.
  10. Yup in reality we don't need cult personalities in news anymore. The only demographic that keeps them going is the 55 and over demographic who still look at traditional television. Also there is no need for stars cause ratings are fracturing in traditional television. Journalists today are too overbloated on their egos and they need to go back to just doing their jobs instead of trying to be a celebrity. One of the reasons why I never liked network morning television was how starstruck the journalists get when talking to some Hollywood star. I can't take someone like that seriously and at the same time they are talking to a head of state. That is the systematic dumbing down of news. I wonder though about the evening news genre cause they are losing viewers as well even though it has not been as dramatic as morning television. I think eventually the genre would have to be reformated and also probably digitalized. Going back to MSNBC I think Mika and Joe should eventually go after 2020, people are already getting tired of them and they are tainted by their relationship with Trump. Anything can happen from here to 2020. I think Nicole, Kasie and Ali should be tested for the Morning Joe format.
  11. I think a couple of them need to go. MSNBC and the news business does not invest in talent as much as they use to cause people don't watch tv news as much. We are seeing infiltration of political strategists getting their own shows now on cable like Nicole Wallace, David Axelrod, Van Jones etc. Even though they are experiencing a little reniassance period, there will be more technological disruption that will impact the traditonal tv news business. Therefore, they will possibly cutdown news anchor/host salaries. I think to save costs, they will get rid of some long time host and have other hosts do more sharing and less emphasis on one host being involved in just one program. We are seeing now with Morning Joe where they rotate hosts from time to time. We see it on the Today show where the hosts rotate each other, that will be a common trend. There was a report saying that network morning shows are on the decline in terms of ratings and developing new audience and brand growth. People can get the news before the anchors present it and also people don't care for the personality aspect of tv news anymore. The politics of today is also a reflection of the political news business. If a blue wave or Democrats gain more control of House, then expect MSNBC to assess and round out hosts/reporters who can stay and who will likely go. In my opinion I think Nicole Wallace will be a keeper but once the era of Trump ends possibly around 2020, how will she fit into the new political dynamic. Will she revert back to being a pro classic Republican or will she convert to being a moderate similar to Steve Schmidt. I think Joe and Mika are done, they are anti Trump to save face but their conflicts of the interest with the President, will be exposed and I think they will be gone. They need to think of possible replacements for Joe and Mika in a few years. I think Nicole Wallace, Ali Velshi, Kasie Hunt or Ari Melber can be possible replacements. I think Willie Geist is an empty suit and useless as well as Craig Melvin, they take up space and have no specialty or beat. I think MSNBC needs more diversity, that is the biggest weakness, they need to promote Joy Reid to weekdays and bring in more black and Hispanic journalists.
  12. There is some possibility with Liam being a possible Carrington however if they want to pair Fallon up with Liam, it would be the second time she committed incest with an unknown family member. I really want to root for Jeff but they have not done enough for his character to make him a threat to Blake .I believe in the first episode Jeff was coming up to be a leading young businessmen in the country cause he brought a streaming music company and he was investing a couple of startups. After the 80's party it took a turn for the worse and he played stooge to Fallon. I want Jeff more then any character to be the most compelling, complex and twisted character cause all the other characters are one dimensioned including Blake. I think Monica is eye candy and seems to be playing the token black girl role where she plays second dibs to enhance Fallon, cause in one episode Fallon was gambling with an old perverted sugar daddy who wanted to sleep with her and the writing was made so Fallon looked superwoman tough and Monica was the paniky protective friend. In the original Dynasty, Monica Colby was brainy, stronger then her brother and brilliant at her age, she was a lawyer and even became a businesswoman. In this reboot, they are making Monica to be more like a nightclub girl and to make a show work Fallon needs a young rival. I have been dissapointed with the writing of the Colbys and hope they give more storyline in the second season. Culhane is really the moral angel to Fallon, so I don't see them changing his character right now but I think he might go for a government agent role. The death of his father Culhan went back to school and decided to become a SEC analyst or an FBI agent. Culhane was always the one doing the dirty, investigating and snooping so why not!
  13. Thank you so much. I thought I was the only one as well. I never got her promotion, they should've gave it to Kirsten Welker or Kelly O'Donnell. Hallie Jackson is overrated for NBC to give her a promotion and a show. Hallie does not have it, she is a chihuahua, I can't take her seriously when she talks to intellectual pundits or seasoned reporters. Cutting them off and her always saying "right" or doing "hmmm" when they are talking is very condesncending and I don't even think she knows it. She is not the brightest bulb. Kasie Hunt's show is miles ahead of Hallie's and I think she should be moved up to weekdays. Katy Tur does not bother me that much, she does not come across as being full of herself and has good temperment which is so important in being a good host/anchor. I am glad Kasie is getting a chance, cause I thought NBC was on the Hallie Jackson train but she has fallen off the last eight months. Hallie is not about the story, she has gotten self centered on her new promotion and cares about having her moment or doing gotcha questions. Hallie is better reporter then a host. Kasie seems to be more intellectualy focused on the story, she does her homework . Stephanie is very feisty but she is not nasty with it, there are some hosts that are feisty and they are just plain out rude and self centered. Stephanie seems down to earth when it comes to her approach, she does not tolerate BS talking points. Another thing about Steph is that she does not seem to be a pupett protector of Wall Street. She is not afraid to talk about their problems and get to the nitty gritty of the story which is what I appreciate. As far as Stephanie and Ali being replacements for Joe and Mika, yes I can see that cause they are more relatable then Joe and Mika who are fool of themselves and have egos. In fact I welcome for Ali and Steph to get more play on their show.
  14. Stephanie says a lot on her show that she quit investment banking cause of the financial crisis. She got burned out and was shell shocked with the financial meltdown and became disenchanted. It is because of that is a reason why she is pro-regulation in certain instances of controlling businesses on Wall Street. She always wanted to be a business reporter and gave it a try. She got a really fast rise and I think her investment banking career helped her moving up the ladder faster. I remember Erin Burnett, she was a rising star on CNBC and was touted the next big thing for business news. She has similar background to Stephanie in which she started out as a financial analyst however, she did not stay that long. She was not in Wall Street during the financial crisis, she was already a business reporter. Stephanie does seem to have more heart, she was around during the worse part of the financial industry. From what I understand, it was ugly to be in banking for a while during the global recession. She saw the good and bad side of being in financial/banking industry. Whereas with Erin, she only saw the benefits that it did for her but never went through the ugliness of the financial industry. Erin is married to the head executive of Citigroup, so she does have conflict of interests. Her husband has donated money to politicians. Stephanie is married to an hedge fund manager but he works for a Swiss bank and keeps a low profile.
  15. Political news is new to Stephanie, I think she is doing a good job, she is one of my favorites to watch on MSNBC. She is very opinionated but she is not offensive with it nor does she have an agenda. I am glad she is on MSNBC instead of originally being on Weekend Today show, which I think is a waste of time for the knowledge she has. I like their Saturday format and they should bring it to the weekdays. I like Ali Velshi, he works very hard and you can tell he cares about what he is presenting, and he makes sure he gives us real information instead of gibber gab. He did great work at CNN so I am glad he landed on his feet at MSNBC/NBC. I hope he and Stephanie stick around in the long term, they are real reporters not cartoon characters of cable hosts that we see nowadays. Katy Tur gets points from me cause she got thick skin when Trump verablly attacked and used her during the campaign. I also think Katy Tur is enjoying the high point of her career. I don't know if she is reporter that has potential long term standing at MSNBC. I do like the fact that she talks slowly and has poise which is saying a lot for MSNBC reporters. When I watch Katy Tur, I feel that she is sincere and nothing about her that is duplictious. I understand where you are coming from, the one reporter who I am trying to root for but I think got a really fast rise is Hallie Jackson. They gave her too much with Chief White House Correspondent role and I think she is emotionally immature. She is hyper and lacks a reporters gravitas, talks to fast, one dimensioned, cuts off guests and has no verbal polishing skills. I don't think anyone likes her cause a tv consultant or producer should tell her to slow down and take some elocution classes.
