It sucks that they put Choni's first "I love yous" and first sex scene (or the start of it) in an episode where it's upstaged by this stealing-and-betraying-their-friends ooc mess. I wonder if this is backlash against some of the more unruly Choni stans. If it is, that's petty. It was also something to have Veronica perform the ending song (when it more naturally would have been Josie as she's sung everything this season), just so they could drum up pity for poor old Archie dying in a cabin juxtaposed with his ex chirping happily away and kissing another man. LOL, could the writers hate her any more? Maybe I was wrong about the comics treating her worse. It doesn't help that she has the voice of a Japanese pop singer. I liked the Betty plot in this episode, especially the ending, and that's about it.

You're right, they're not. Archie Comics promotes the idea that they're friends because it gets them female empowerment points and sales. But, even though there are more stories where B and V are friends than enemies, the enemy stories have gone way too far to make their friendship credible anymore. Basically the comics make their money off selling Betty as the can-do-no-wrong heroine and Veronica as the can't-do-anything-right shithead who exists as a foil to B, not a friend or equal. Riverdale didn't entirely abandon that gimmick, but they softened it.

I don't know if C&C actually moved faster than SH? They just opened up about it faster to the public, because like I said, they seem to be leaning into the show biz aspect of their relationship, which I kind of like. I mean, Hollywood romance, it is what it is. But you're right, getting off topic here. I guess because The Man In Black was pretty boring, lol.

Sprousehart seems like they might have a good chance of staying together till Riverdale's finished. After that? Well, frankly, just think of all the showbiz couples who've seemed absolutely rock solid stable and then split up. I wish the best for both SH and C&C, they're cute, but I don't expect either one to stay together too long after the show ends (which I think will be about three years from now), if that. Hollywood's track record is just that bad. I'll only hope that when if they want to move on later, they make clean breaks and stay friends. Anything more will just be a nice surprise. I don't know too much about Charmila, but if they're posting about themselves publicly, that's not necessarily a bad sign. It shows that even though they're probably in love, they know that this is a Hollywood romance they're in, so they're having fun with it. Private or public, either approach works depending on the actors' personalities. I'd worry less about them breaking up than SH just because if it happens, it's not going to hurt the show as much. Reggie and Veronica aren't as big of a couple on Riverdale as Betty and Jughead, and Reggie and Veronica are supposed to have a thorny, combative dynamic, so if the actors break up, it kind of fits in a way that broken up SH would not. But like I said, it seems like SH could last to the end of the show.

Make it to what, marriage? I hope not, for their sake. Real-life romances between actors who play onscreen couples almost always break up. The exceptions happen once in a blue moon.

They should have locked up Veronica in the SoQM instead of Betty so Ronnie will stop blabbing the plans to Hiram. Joaquin getting killed was disappointing. Kevin had more chemistry with him than anyone else, and his death was rather pointless. I almost hope Riverdale goes supernatural just so they can bring him back. I think Josie deserved to be the one to tell off Marty Mantle after her tiein comic story with him and Reggie last year, but the show writers never give her much. Then again, Betty saying it to the world's worst parents instead of the police or someone else useful was sort of a flashy move that sounded good but accomplished nothing and probably pissed the guy off to do further violence, so maybe it's just as well.

During the sixties and seventies, Betty's mother was named "Helen." (Thanks to the site you linked to for reminding me what it was! They're mistaken about it only being one story though, or maybe they haven't seen the other stories.) I remember seeing a bunch of panels from different stories posted in one of the Archie groups years ago that showed Hal calling her Helen, by someone who was pointing out how the names changed over the years. Mr. Lodge was originally named Burton for instance, then Albert, then J.P. and I think a few other things before he became Hiram. "Alice" was given to Mrs. Cooper in the eighties or nineties.

Hal does, but "Alice" was apparently given to Betty's mother long after the real Alice Cooper became a rock star (she was called something else before that), so the name was probably meant as a nod to him.

After this episode I find myself really wanting to see the usual couples split up and regrouped, at least for a while, because the Betty/Archie and Chuck/Veronica scenes are such a breath of fresh air just for the change, even though I usually prefer Bughead and Varchie. Well, maybe not Varchie anymore. They're in a rut and Chuck is awesome with Veronica, even without the lap dancing. Maybe we can pretend certain episodes never happened. Because hell, the writers do it all the time. I'm dreading Moose/Kevin but that's probably where the show is headed. I hope there's at least a decent interval.

Finally watched this episode. Not as much fun as the previous but more touching because of Choni. Also funny that Toni and Veronica expected Josie to just forget about the stalker Cheryl revelation and go help find her. Well, of course they did. Toni grew up in a street gang and Veronica grew up in a mob family, sending pig's hearts is probably no big deal to them, lol. And I loved Archie's boast about how he rearranged Nick St. Clair's face. Yeah dude, while he was laid up in bed with a broken leg.

Veronica doesn't look as white as Cameron Diaz and Alexis Bledel. (Though I'm not going to judge their identity either, since there's more to it than looks.) She looks about as white as Sweet Pea, who's played by a Eurasian actor. They both look ethnically ambiguous. I notice there's a thread here about race relations in Riverdale, so maybe we should continue this discussion there. Latina isn't a race, but many Latinos don't consider themselves white. For good reason. I would never call one white unless they said they identify that way. Veronica doesn't live in a Latino country. She lives in the United States, which has different standards for whiteness. I agree about the Italian mafia stuff although I don't think the Lodges are supposed to be part Italian. Just more Riverdale weirdness. A lot of Latino Americans from the second generation onward don't speak Spanish apart from scattered phrases and words, because their parents wanted them to assimilate and didn't teach it to them.

? She's Latina, she and her parents don't look white to me, and the show acknowledged when she first joined the Pussycats that she isn't white. How can she be considered white in a made up latin country (if she comes from one)--you don't know the rules of a made up country, do you? 'Basically a white lady' which means...
