In case you missed it, there's a cruise with Sweatney and her Barnacle Company for the low, low price of $1200 per person! Barnacle Heather also chimes in to state that they're going to be celebrating her birthday. Perchance it's the year in which she FINALLY gets over Buddy (the real 'star' of the series)?

How does she find the time to fit all of these damn cruises into her overwhelmingly busy life?

And if you look closely, she's got a good hold on the back of poor Henchi's neck. He's not participating willingly.

I wish her cats would get the attitude mine has! My cat isn't going to do ANYTHING he doesn't want to do. A huge maine coon cat like mine will give you a swift kick if you try to force him into anything (and I only force him to do necessary things, like go to the vet).

As a pet lover, it disgusts me, the way she treats her cats. I wait for mine to come sit on my lap, by HIS choice, because that it what he wants. He doesn't want to be grabbed and picked up, and he certainly wouldn't put up with me shoving my face right in his face. He'd probably bite Twit right in the nose and give her some nice scratches with his back claws! I'd love to see that!

She's not fit to care for pets, let alone a child, and now she's on this adoption kick. I hope no adoption agency is stupid enough to give this wacko a child. No child should have to have her for a mother.

My cats would hate that too. God, it's so weird. Babs seemed embarrassed by that behavior.

The Ugly Crying Face kinda reminds of this--now, if we could just insert some rabbit teeth into this image it'd be perfect.  Yes, it's the Stay Puft Marshmallow man (which we've discussed her crying face resembling previously).

Aw, he's so ugly, he's cute. Unlike Whitney's crybaby face. We need a caption contest

The fact that Whitney cares  more about the appearance of loose skin than her personal comfort and HEALTH really speaks volumes for her lack of maturity. And sorry, but does she think she really looks better with that much flab? At least loose skin can be covered by clothes, as others have pointed out she can't even cover her body properly anymore.

Yep. At least you can spanx the loose skin so it's not so apparent. Committing to a fitness program would help tone whatever muscles lie beneath too.

It could partially be a matter of taking dozens of pictures until you get just the right angle and light. You can use all the filters you want, but nothing is going to say, fix asymmetry. Her right eyebrow is higher than her left, so when she tilts the right side to the camera like that, she appears more symmetrical than she really is and more attractive. Plus she is lying down so all the fat falls back. I know this stuff because I'm incredibly vain and I do it myself.

I've tried this but without success. I think I need some type of industrial apparatus to lift and shift everything.

Some people get really attached to pets. As Whit said, no matter the pet, they consider it a member of the family.  I get it. I don't see the attraction to pigs as pets, but, to each his own.  Apparently, Babs adored him.  I do suspect the tears were freely let go though, for the cameras.  I mean, you can't ignore an opportunity like that.

I don't fault Whit for the pig getting sick. It does happen and since many pigs live perfectly fine lives on farms, getting a pig condition that is fatal is sad, but, not horrific.  Despite what pig owners say about them and how great they are...have you ever actually been in a home where they live? I have and those that I saw are not good pets. I think these pig pet fans have exceptional pigs or they exaggerate their experiences. This is based on what I have seen personally with pigs as pets in a home environment. Granted, there maybe exceptions. Apparently, Babs's piggy was a handful for her too and perhaps much more of a challenge than they expected.  Whit's fault for not researching it, but, I suspect it was really producer driven, so, I'll give her a pass on that.

I agree. I've lived on a farm and in the country for most of my life and view pigs as livestock rather than pets. We haven't had livestock on our farm for quite a while, but many of our friends and neighbors do. Unfortunately, even under the best conditions, they can become ill and die. It's not much different than people getting flu shots but coming down with it anyhow. From what we're shown, the rescue seemed legit and unless we're shown otherwise, I won't jump to the conclusion that they were negligent with Piggy's care.

Personally, I wouldn't want a pig running around in the house. My dog and cats can be quite a handful to care for at times.

I think what that meant was the he would have spent 13k on drugs if he was still using. So in essence, he saved it but not really. There's no way Buddy could save that much in 8 mos. He doesn't strike me as a saving kind of guy.

Yeah, that's what I figured, and no, he doesn't strike me a real money saver either.

When you've got the body, go for it. When you're overweight and not in great shape (even if you are losing weight), there are certain cuts that aren't body friendly, especially if it's got no boning to give the dress structure and help to keep things in place and you live in DDD territory. That was what I meant by the "looking desperate" comment. There's a difference between dressing sexy and age appropriate because you look good and you've worked hard and dressing like you still want to believe you're in high school or college and you're ignoring your cellulite and batwings. This one was definitely more of a younger market / woman in shape style. It bordered on prom dress had the slit not been so high. The fabric was also really prom dress feeling though. Dress in question:

    PDP_No_Image_Available_Message

Doesn't help that it's Vera Wang so it's cut crazy small (we ended up taking 12 inches out of the dress after my weight loss, we took 2 off the belt, wtf?).

Bridal dresses seem to run small in general, in my opinion. No vanity sizing there! That is a pretty dress but it would limit people due to the cut. I wouldn't feel comfortable in it based on my current body. Now if I worked my ass off, like Cherekov does, hell yes, I would rock the shit out of that dress!

I perceived the "desperate walking stick" comment as a reference to the sister-in-law's attitude. She sounds pretty snotty. It's pretty petty to not want your future sister-in-law in your wedding party based solely on her weight. Best of luck to your brother.

    Awesome, MegD...keep it up!!!

I'm sensing from the replies that people have had different 'aha' moments that were their turning point.  Whit has surpassed those many times over, and still hasn't come to her senses.  I'm wondering if she's being figuratively handcuffed by her "No BS" mantra, and feels like "I can't go back on it now and admit that there really is no such thing as healthy at any weight."

I don't get that vibe from Whitney. She just strikes me as having the attitude of "I'll do whatever the hell I want, consequences be damned". The cynical part of me believes that TLC would love to see her go through such a huge life changing transition like that.

I have a genuine question, and please don't hate on me for it, but it's something that just occurred to me from reading the responses to this episode.  Quite a few of the posters to this show have said they are somewhat-to-significantly overweight.  And there is lots of advice given about what Whit's family should do to somehow get her to lose weight.  But I'm curious if any of that ever worked for you, and if it hasn't, why not, and why should it work in Whit's case?  Likewise with the physical state that Whitney is in...it seems that people are saying that she should be taking such-and-such event as a wake-up call that she needs to lose weight.  But what are those posters waiting for in terms of a wake-up call in their own lives, and why have other events not caused the weight loss decision?  I have sincere curiosity and would hope to get some sincere answers.

The turning points for me are the realization that carrying around 25-30 extra lbs. is very likely to shorten my life span, reduce my ability with certain activities and being disgusted with my physical appearance. I've struggled with my weight starting in my 40's and it's really a day to day issue with me.  Things that work for me are using plastic containers with premeasured amounts of food (one serving), using measuring spoons and cups when I'm preparing them, weighing myself once a week, using a pedometer to track my steps and having "goal clothes". I've attended a great wellness class that taught me about good and bad fats, carbs, proteins, how many calories I should consume to lose weight, etc. In addition, I try to be more aware of what's going on when I'm eating (emotionally). I did lose about 40 lbs. for several years using those methods, but regained about 20 as of today, The regain was from me gradually getting away from good eating habits. So, my current plan is to lose at least 20 lbs. which would put me at 155 lbs.

What really upsets me, is Whitney's message about fat acceptance is perfectly healthy and anyone who believes otherwise is a fat-shamer.

The episode with her trying to SKI was very funny and disturbing @ the same time. because the way she just laid there screaming for help. Anyone notice that it was ski staff not her friends that help her.

Ugh, the drama! I think her friends are really over a lot of her BS. Poor Lennie, he weighs about 160 and he's supposed to lift 380lbs.? Whitney ordering the camera man to stop filming and help her? Skis are bitch to get up from when you're at a normal weight. I can't imagine that she really believed that she would shushing down the slopes.

Is this the first we've seen of a side or back yard?  Pretty barren.  I have kind of been wondering who was doing the yardwork.

The blueberry bushes won't last long.  Both the one or more she stuck in the ground without improving the soil and the rest that never made it out of their pots.  Of course she doesn't know what she's doing.  She could have asked at the nursery.

Oh yeah, you know those plants didn't last a week. Because watering them is soooooooooooo hard, makes her feet hurt, interferes with her dance career, blah, blah, blah.

I’m not blaming the farm, per se.

But clearly the pig contracted the bacteria there.

And when you look at the manner of transmission or triggers for the bacteria becoming pathological, they include exposure to other pigs’ feces, change of diet, stress from a move.

It seems that Whitney took a pig whom they chose to domesticate, and whose immune system was not accustomed to exposure to other animals that carry this bacteria, and threw the pig into a situation that was not going to be healthy for it.

And all for a storyline for this lame season.

I was also wondering about how strong his immune system was in that situation.  You brought up some good points about diet, stress, etc. With such a messed up timeline, I don't think we'll ever know how long Piggy was at the rescue before he died. Poor Piggy. Poor Babs too. I'm still pissed that Whitney allowed the crew to film that scene.

Piggy died of Erysipelas according to the phone call.

I read about it on this site.

Read the page on it at the link above, and tell me that they didn't all but kill the pig by sending it to that farm.

I can't blame the farm. The article said the symptoms come on rapidly and that sometimes, death is the only symptom. Sort of like swine flu? (I'm not making light of Piggy's death, BTW).

Is this what killed Piggy? (I haven't seen the episode.) Did the farm explain how he cotracted it?

They didn't explain how Piggy contracted it. It sounds like a very fast acting bacterial infection and the rescue wasn't able to get him to the vet in time. I hope they don't start blaming the rescue.

    Some thoughts -

    • Buddy is annoying, and boring as hell. Don't care about him at all.
    • Why is this Buddy/Heather thing going ON and ON and ON? I forget how the breakup happened - did he sit down and talk to her and say hey, it's over?
    • Heather is ridiculous. Reading that card from Buddy? Boring.
    • Buddy saying that he "just doesn't want to deal with it" meaning Heather. Dude, just deal with it once and for all, and everyone be done.

Since why would you jump/be in another relationship WHEN YOU JUST SAID that is something that tempts you to do drugs??? Like they tried to make us be sympathetic to him but he's throwing himself into these things.
