Really?  I always thought Mariah was the worst looking and Aspyn and Mykelti were the prettier ones.

I've always thought Mykelti was pretty, even with extra weight.  That doesn't seem to be a popular opinion, though.

Janelle, I'm so disappointed you're more interested in trees and camping than the stability and happiness of some of your kids.

This is the woman who insisted on fishing THE MORNING OF HER DAUGHTER'S WEDDING!!!! She avoids anything uncomfortable and unpleasant, though why being there for your daughter on her wedding day was deemed unpleasant for her, I'll never know.

I noticed in Robyn's talking head parts her eyes don't stay focused  ~  it's like they are constantly rolling around almost like it's part of her thinking process.  It could be something as simple as being told to not look directly into the camera or something but I found it curious.

I do this a lot. I kind of stare up at the wall with eyes unfocused, 'searching' for my words and answers. It's my way of tuning out all the visual noise so I can collect my thoughts. I'm not saying that's what Robyn is doing, but maybe?

She's not an expert on exercise..... but she's a health coach? Who paid $6K for her certificate thing? WTF is a health coach doing not knowing enough about exercise to point a beginner in the right direction. 'Hire a personal trainer...' awesome advice! So worth the monthly subscription to Stife with Janelle.

HA HA HA HA - NOOOOOOO - NOT AT ALL!!!   My blood was boiling at KODY!!  I cannot stand favoritism with one's own kids and he's so obvious about it!!

    1. I completely agree re: favouritism. My mother heavily favoured my brother, still does in fact, and it was heartbreaking when I was younger. We have a see you once a year relationship now, even though I have her only grandchildren and she's 45 minutes away. I initially worked hard to not show favourites between my kids, but soon realized that I genuinely adore each for her amazing self. Amazing how unconditional love can make a family close; we actually love spending time together, and my kids are now teens.

    2. I've been wanting to say this for awhile, but KYANIGHT, I really appreciate you sharing your thoughts and perspectives with us. I've always respected your opinions and posts; that you have experience with this lifestyle adds an element of discussion that enhances the conversation. Anyhow, thank you for sharing your thoughts and for what it's worth, I appreciate your perspective.

Putting this here, since Dayton is being discussed elsewhere.

Regarding Dayton, this is from Robyn’s blog: (January 2018)

When Dayton was little he struggled with ........

As I read through this post, I felt a tad uncomfortable, like it was too invasive and exposed Dayton's 'weaknesses', 'issues'--whatever you want to call it. This is not an anonymous blog, they are in the public eye, and Dayton is old enough to tell his own story--or NOT tell his story in such a public manner. I could be wrong, but I doubt that Robyn discussed this post with Dayton and asked him if he was comfortable with sharing such details. Forgive me--I am a psychologist, and with all the ethical guidelines as well as best practices to promote positive therapeutic outcomes,  I am acutely aware of the importance of one's control and ownership of his/her story/narrative.  A person's story is not for others to tell. Perhaps Dayton is completely comfortable with such details being shared so publicly and my discomfort is unwarranted.

I have been impressed with many of the older kids and how they seem to be really good people: Logan, Janelle's boys, Gwendolyn, Ysobelle, Dayton. With the clusterfuck of dysfunction between the 'adults', many of these kids have grown up to be very decent, kind, and responsible individuals. I kind of love when the kids make known their opinions and call out parental hypocrisy. Like when Logan essentially called Kody out in Hawaii about his sudden need to eschew pork and Kody's resulting tantrum because he wasn't being blindly followed (clearly a demonstration that the sudden forbidding of pork was never part of the ever-changing evolution of the  fambly religion thus far). I also appreciate Logan making his own way and learning from his parents' mistakes--rejecting polygamy, his relationship with Michelle, his responsibility regarding his education and future, his willingness to risk losing his glorious eternal position on Planet Kody by continuing to consume bacon, etc.

I don't know what it is about Wal-Mart, but it brings out the Pajamas In Public People. I'll never understand it! Makes a boring trip to the store more interesting though. 5 points for every pajama wearer you spot...10 points if they're also wearing slippers!

My best friend's mom HATES seeing pajamas at Walmart and has remarked on it for decades. A few years ago, my friend, her sister, and their families went to Walmart in pajamas, took a picture, framed it, and gave it to their mom at Christmas. It was awesome to see her laughing so hard. Best part was my friend's BIL wore a huge, pink bunny onesie--he's a rockstar!

I doubt highly intelligent or self assured women buy into it.  It's the browbeaten or low self esteem or not that bright folks that believe the dream.  Sheeple who buy into the hype (and manure) spread by those who know how to sell to their fantasies.

You're absolutely correct. I grew up Evangelical (I've been Catholic for five years or so--I finally feel 'at home') and these companies throw in all kinds of Christianese language in. "If you have the faith of a mustard seed you can move mountains" (Matthew 17:20) and "we're a company that puts God first, family second, and business third" (uh....not even close). That's why I feel  companies like MK and LLR are predatory: the feed off of the weak with all that "sisterhood" and disgustingly happy and peppy "positivity" for which many women are desperate. Especially in an Evangelical and Mormon environment where men rule. It is sad, I think.

So I had a thought because the Brown's are grifty.  I am not a tax expert, more of a giant novice, but I had a thought.  Meri makes $ having people underneath her.  Do the people underneath her have to sell anything for her to profit or do they just have to buy their inventory?  Could she have signed everyone up so SHE makes $, then they all can sell or not sell but then write off the loss on taxes?  They get to pluck clothes out of their inventory, write off the losses, but Meri makes $ by being the one that brought them in.

The uplines earn money based upon how much their downlines purchase from the company.  If the downlines never sell it, it matters not because the uplines get paid already. I've had more than a few Mary Kay people aggressively pursue me (I wear makeup and its very natural--no caterpillars above my eyes, no winged out eyeliner, no false lashes) so I've seen these people "work their business" and uplines pushing downlines to put orders in. I've lost several friends because I refused to be bullied into signing up. If I get a sniff of a MK lady, I turn and bolt. No more being nice and letting the "independent business woman" do a "facial" on me. That's why the individual downlines in companies like LLR have no chance; they're put to buy more inventory regardless of their ability to sell that inventory. The uplines don't care because they get paid by the orders, not the sales. Essentially, these consultants are the customers because they purchase the inventory. If they can't resell that inventory, well then they start shaming you. "You need to work harder, quitters never win and winners never quit". They have a language unto themselves. It really is sad and predatory of women who buy into the "dream". In the day of the internet where you can research anything before jumping in, I think there is no excuse for people getting involved in these things.

re sinus infection, OMG Yes to all the smart people giving cautions here. The sinuses are right next to brains and eyes.

Well, I'm a mess from fighting cancer for twenty years so with a low immunity I get everything. I always have sinus issues. I've had several surgeries (horrible) and my ENT has me doing nasal rinsed at least twice a day.  I use the Dr Neil bottles and they come with saline packets; warm up some water and it takes 30seconds. If I don't do it I'm miserable. You can make your own saline solution (must have baking soda as a buffer!) but, to be honest, if it's not easy I won't do it. Yep. I'm a lazy one. I wouldn't do anything like this without a doctor's recommendation, though.

I remember my Grandma using Pond's too! My mother was always into Oil of Olay. Personally I love The Water Cream by Tatcha. I think the key isn't one particular cream, just find the one that works best for you and moisturize, moisturize, moisturize! I am off to research Rose Quartz Rollers because that sounds very interesting...

Tatcha is my favourite!!! I use the line almost exclusively (with a couple Fresh brand items). My skin has never been better. It's expensive, but having better skin equals less makeup....or something.....just trying to justify my indulgence.

"IT MONDAY WHICH MEANS ONLY 3 DAYS UNTIL HALLOWEEN!!"

So the "woman entrepreneur's" first communique introducing her business opens like this?? I get that operating tanning beds doesn't require stellar writing skills, but anytime I see such glaring errors I wonder what other details are overlooked.

Janelle is a terrible writer, photographer, and example. I wouldn't even subscribe to her Strive thing for free. She's always so negative (someone upthread said 'Eeyore' which is spot on....although I think Eeyore is much more likable.....man, I'm being a bitch today). If you are presenting yourself as a wellness coach or whatever she claims, you need to be approachable and relatable, but confident and a step ahead of the pack. She can't even inspire herself, why on earth would she expect others to follow and pay for her poorly written and woefully unprofessional output?

Sorry for my bitchyness (is that even a word?).... I've been sick for days. Thank you all for cheering me up; I come to these boards to get a laugh reading your witty and well-written snark. You are my soul sisters.

lularoemeribrown @mariahbrwn our friend the yoga instructor told me again the other day he still thinks you should teach, you have that yoga energy about you! :)

I despise the "artistic" trend of photographs of feet. I've seen this all over for the last 5-10 years and I don't want to see bare feet! Why ruin a beautiful picture of the ocean by blocking it with feet?! Your face, fine, but decades from now your offspring's offspring will not be viewing family photos and say, "Oh, look! It's great grandma!! I'd know those feet anywhere!"  Sorry, this is a big pet peeve of mine #itstroublinghowirritatedigetaboutfeetphotography

    See, I can hashtag too!

Regarding the upthread discussion on hair colour: I colour (read: cover the ever spreading silver) a dark brown, which is very close to my natural colour. I'm also so pale that I joke about being a vampire. It was only in the last five years or so when makeup brands have been expanding their colour ranges that I have actually found foundations in a few brands that match my skin. I've always had to buy the lightest colour and those weren't light enough until some higher end brands started carrying shades of "snow" and "porcelain". So, I have really dark hair, porcelain snow vampire skin, and green eyes. I wear black nearly exclusively, not as a fashion statement per say but I just started about ten years ago after my pancreatic cancer and my dad dying (RIP, beloved Daddy--he died ten years ago on the 18th, which also happens to be my oldest daughter's birthday; November is a mixed bag for me). It's not to be morbid or anything and it wasn't a conscious decision; I like remembering Johnny Cash wore all black, too. Yeah, I'm a weirdo.

Has anyone seen the British comedy "Are You Being Served?"? You have to appreciate British humour to enjoy it, but the character Mrs Slocum always has brightly coloured hair--purple, pink, blue, green, yellow--any colour you can imagine. The actress dyed her hair for the part for the first season, but it fried her hair so badly it just broke apart. After the first season, she wore wigs but I always laugh when she walks in with a new colour.

Don't you know they have probably had a family meeting trying to do damage control.  Maddie never seemed like she was going to take much off of anyone.  And it sounds like Meri found where that invisible line not to cross is.

I'm not sure that line was so 'invisible'. Meri lacks the insight to recognize and respect another's boundaries. Good for Maddie--this has certainly increased my regard for her. It seems like these kids are mostly breaking free and having better lives than do their parents. The parents all seems so miserable; I can't imagine living life in such a miserable state and CHOOSING to do absolutely nothing to improve or change that which (or those who) make your life so unhappy.

    You are very welcome!

Bird migrations are amazing to experience.  I remember visiting areas in Lancaster County for the Snow Geese migration and the Tundra Swans when we lived there.  We have several migrations around the house, you have to be outside at the right time to catch when the goldfinches swarm through and every fall there is a bird (I can't remember atm) that fills the trees through the valley and then in the blink of an eye they are all up and gone, the sky goes black and then poof.  Silence.

I have had many up close and personal experiences with wildlife, one of the perks of living most of my life in the woods.

If Robyn thinks that catching a deer up close is "magical" she should have a young Red-Tailed Hawk land on the patio chair next to her and have a conversation with her!! Or experience a night time fly by from a Great Horned Owl. ;)

My husband, though in law enforcement, has a degree in wildlife biology and he's been putting out different feeds and luring a variety of birds to our yard. It's very enjoyable to see all different colours flitting about. He also builds kestrel nest boxes and this year got to band a baby kestrel. My 11 year old got to hold it as well. I love where we live.

If you're a Harry Potter fan, you'll understand why this picture makes me want to say "Expecto Patronum"!!!!

I was totally going to say this!!! This beautiful creature is otherworldly. @Roslyn Thank you for the picture. What a special thing to witness. When my husband and I were first married, we spent three years in a large valley surrounded by mountains. One day we were driving and in a large field near the nature reserve there were thousands and thousands of Sandhill Cranes. In the midst of those thousands of darker cranes was a single white Whooping Crane; they are rare and endangered. We were mesmerized and felt as though we were given a gift. Sorry, I just realized that I'm off topic; I'll behave now.
