My cable kept going on and off but from the math I guess Gina is 35? For some reason I assumed she was younger. Just googled the actress and she is also 35, but Gina could pass for younger. Could definitely relate to Gina's complicated non-relationship with her father...I knew she'd have some interesting backstory.
The last few episodes have shown Drew to be much more likable than he has been in the past. It finally seems as though he cares about Gina (not just her kidney) and that he is growing as a person. At first I thought that Gina needed a ton of character growth, but the writers seemed to be saying that Drew, despite being a therapist, was the one who was really effed up. I am starting to really like their friendship.
Was this the last new episode (at least for a while?)...I didn't see a new promo or any new episode info listed.

Everything involving Kat's date has (for the most part) been done by other shows, and oh so much better. Nothing new in this episode, just annoying. That I'm Gonna Be (500 Miles) song has been done on at least one other series as well. They way it was being sung in this episode made my ears bleed.
I was reminded of the show Zoey's Playlist when Kat and Phil were dancing to Juice since they recently featured that song, but then a minute later they had a character named Max singing 500 Miles, same as the Max on that show did.
I guess the fact that Max had his spontaneous singing moment shows that he and Kat have more in common than it seems, but it would be refreshing if Kat just kept putting her crush behind her and seeing other people, because usually in real life someone who says they would never, ever date you is not going to change their mind.

At the end of the episode, there was a lot of talk about Jerry having to go back on the list for a kidney transplant. Does anyone know if he'd even be eligible for the list once he'd received a transplant?
I was under the impression that if you've received a kidney and rejected it, you're no longer eligible for the list, because they don't want someone to get a second kidney before others have had one.
Or maybe they just put you at the bottom of the list? I'd be curious to know.
I'm not sure, but I don't think it works like that. I've heard of people who received two and even three heart/lung transplants. Maybe it's different with different organs? What I don't understand is what they did with Jerry once his new kidney was rejected. They couldn't put back his original kidney, but the new one didn't work? And how long until Drew can have his transplant? Are they still waiting until Gina's system clears of drugs and/or she can stay sober for a certain amount of time? Sorry, I need to google it. So many questions and I doubt this show is 100% medically accurate.

Blood ties really mean nothing. Whether Randall likes it or not, the Pearsons are also a part of his family tree because our past experiences shape who we are as a person just as much (if not more) than biology. There were several things I found a little insulting in this episode, as someone who hasn't followed the standard life script, but I know I'm very much in the minority so I won't go into it.
I also thought that someone should have spoken with Ellie and made sure she was *really* sure about her decision. Sure, most birth mothers would be emotional right after giving up their child, but she seemed to already be regretting her choice. As heartbreaking as it would be for Kate and Toby, it would be better if they lost Hailey now than get fully bonded with her and have Ellie show up wanting the baby back.
And this is just a rant as a casual viewer and I know it's been said before, but I am really sick of Randall. As someone said above, he used to be my favorite character but now the writers have painted him as such a Mary Sue character he doesn't seem real. And his relationship with Beth seems too perfect too. They act like Randall didn't even like girls until he laid eyes on Beth, and then ONLY her. I just want to see an episode where Beth finally gets fed up and dumps him (albeit temporarily since the future has already been laid out).

I think it might have been the last of him since the actor left the filming early (like way before they stopped for the holidays). I actually thought it was sad. I think George is just desperate to be liked and comes on too strong sometimes. I did think this episode showed Zoey's humanity a little more. Sometimes she can come off kind of cold, but even her reactions to the heart songs in this episode were a little softer...sometimes she just stands there scowling at the singer, but seemed to really absorb their feelings this time. That she was so reluctant to fire all those people showed in a believable way that she does have a heart.
How is Aiden(?) Australian and with a full-on accent if he grew up in California next to Zoey?

I feel like I'm biased about this show because I like Mayim and I like the concept of the show and the fact that it represents a segment of our society that often gets poked fun at and gives them (okay...us haha) a human face. This episode where she gets inadvertently rejected by both guys is just painful to watch and so relatable...and the scene where an extra pair of her underwear falls out of her pants...same thing happened to me in 4th grade when I walked across the classroom to turn in a paper...seriously thought I was the only one that ever happened to!
But even being biased, I can see some of the less appealing aspects that might turn people off, like the constant talking at the camera. Maybe they are using a technique from the original show (never saw it), but it seems like lazy writing.
I actually don't mind Swoozie Kurtz. I was a little taken aback at her current appearance, but it fits the character somehow. I could see someone as appearance-conscience as Kat's mom having a plastic surgery habit.

Whoever designed Zoey's old bedroom has either never seen a teenager's room or thinks Zoey has no other personality trait besides "science geek." A periodic table on her wall? Really?
I'm pleasantly surprised by the writers' decision to end the triangle. Not because Zoey is too old for that kind of thing so much as she was already displaying some insensitivity towards others...IMO stringing the two of them along would make her more unlikable. It's just that I'm not yet convinced of her feelings for Max in particular. She wanted to move forward in life...but what if Simon had visited her room at that moment instead? Would she be moving on with him? It just felt rushed. I will give the show a chance to show how she really feels, though.

Some new cast interviews on FabTV where there are a few little things about season 2 dropped. Someone sings Baby Did a Bad Bad Thing. Also, Mary reveals how Mitch returns...he left messages for Maggie, Zoey and David before he lost his abilities, and Maggie is a little hesitant to watch/read them. And Zoey tries some different ways to process her grief...like through sex, alcohol. Probably more I am forgetting so go check it out.

I'm probably being Captain Obvious here, but seems like they are going with the angle that Gina is so desperate to be liked and that's why she does these crazy things for people, specifically offering up her kidney to someone she hasn't seen in many years. Maybe Drew will realize this and feel guilty about taking the kidney?
I thought it was fitting that Gina seemed to relate well with the daughter (Addie or Maddie? I keep hearing both) since she is so immature. And about time the ex-wife was told about Drew's condition. Doesn't seem very realistic that she wouldn't be familiar with his illness in the first place.

I'm also glad they decided not to make Darlene pregnant. I was disappointed watching the promos for this episode. They expect us to accept another unlikely pregnancy? TV shows tend to do this a lot...state that a character is incapable of having children biologically and then bam! said character gets pregnant with a miracle baby without even trying because God forbid anyone is child free or have to accept reality. I was annoyed when Fuller House did this with Stephanie, but I would expect something like that from that show...The Connors is more realistic. Also, they have been giving Sara Gilbert some really good material lately. I wonder if Darlene and Ben will eventually separate because he did seem very invested in the idea of becoming a father.
I also thought of the Becky/Jesse scene from Full House when Darlene gave Ben the "baby" food! Also, I wish they would give DJ more to do. I thought he was super annoying as a kid but he's much more tolerable now and I would like to see that character fleshed out more. Neville seems a little too good to be true, but for Jackie's sake I hope not. It's sad (but understandable) that she is so used to relationship failure that she won't even give him a chance.

As far as the odds of Gina being a match, I don't know what they are, but I read somewhere that this show is based on a true story.
I think it did mention somewhere in the credits that it was based on a true story. I do wonder how closely the show is to the truth. Anyone have info about the real people who inspired this?
I did semi-enjoy the show, but agree the opening credits were unnecessarily graphic for the tone of the show. I don't see how it can last very long, but Gina's character does leave room for a ton of development.

Sometimes there are glaring signs early on that you're wrong for someone. I'd imagine beth saying to never call her again was a big sign, as well as the smaller signs of her reluctance to commit, and the fact that they are both alphas. I'm glad that they have made it work, as no relationship is perfect, and it seems they've worked out well all things considered.
It just makes me wonder what would have happened if Randall had said, "you know, plenty of girls would love my romantic gesture! We're just obviously different in that way. No biggie; I'll ask out that cute girl in chemistry class next week! And maybe I'll take that 'don't overshare' advice to heart." I wonder if Randall and Beth both would be ended up with someone more suited to them if he hadn't been so persistent, and they'd both had a chance to date around to find a good fit. I'm absolutely not saying I don't like them as a couple, because I do, but it's interesting to see how they ended up together, because a lot of us would have walked away and never thought about it again!
Oh, online dating was totally a thing in 1998, especially for young people. Even if they were the only two black students at the college (and it's totally weird if they felt pressured to try dating for that reason), they would have both had plenty of alternatives. I agree with people who have said that Randall was strange for continuing to pursue Beth after she made it clear she wasn't interested. I know that kind of thing is supposed to be cute on kiddie shows, but it's not appropriate in real life. It's like he already had it in his head that she was his future wife (knowing little about her other than he was attracted to her) and winning her over was just another challenge to overcome.

The thing with Tess is so overblown. She was born in October 2008. She is barely 10...not a big deal if she isn't into boys. I know Kate had her best interests at heart and Rebecca was sensitive about it but she shouldn't have told after being asked not to. Tess only insinuated that she would be open to dating girls...not some big declaration. No reason to pressure a 4th grader to "choose a sexuality." If they are going with this storyline, fine, it's time the actress got some screen time, but sexuality with this youngest generation isn't so black and white and isn't a big deal. Like Tess said last year so nonchalantly, "I guess Grandpa is gay, or bi."

That was a lot to digest in one episode, and I agree, there was very little build up to any of it. It's almost like the writers went online to get fan's ideas and fanfictions and used that as inspiration for the episode. I remember someone on redditt a while back posting a scenario where Buffy crushed on Jonah and everyone was laughing at the prospect of all THREE members of the Good Hair Gang being in love with him. If she was going to start to like him, why not show some subtle hints towards it at least? I'm no expert on writing, but it seems like things like this usually are not just dropped like anvils without any kind of lead in. I kind of assumed Cyrus' crush on Jonah was fading (although I don't really like how they left it up to us to just guess at). I feel bad for the many Jyrus shippers - that is usually how any couple I want to see become cannon turns out. It's not really out of the realm of possibility that Cyrus' feelings would change, however. Look at how often middle school kids switch up their relationships - stands to reason a crush that wasn't even known by one of the parties wouldn't last very long. That's not to say he won't fall for him again down the line. I find it a little odd that they have never used the words "gay" or "bi" to describe Cyrus. I get not being into labels, but it seems like the only thing we know is that he is attracted to boys. He could be attracted to girls too for all we know (just not poor Iris). And yeah, the Buffy moving thing - what was the point of that even? Would love to sit down with these writers and hear what their reasons for all these sudden changes were.

If the show wasn't based on Paul Rust's relationship with his real wife, I would have never bet on it ending with the two still together. I did appreciate seeing a romance with two deeply flawed characters. Mickey, in particular, was like no romantic heroine I'd ever seen, and Gus is a much more realistic version of a guy you are likely to meet and start dating than most you will see in the movies. But since the series was set on being "real" all the way through, it probably would have ended with a separation (except for the aforementioned fact that it is based on a real relationship). What kept me watching was how the characters evolved and handled the situations they were put in. I didn't "ship" Mickey and Gus...until the very end...when I was actually kind of happy they married after all. I don't know how long they would stay married but I'm pretty sure they would never have the standard fairy tale happily ever after.
I, too, was disappointed in how things ended with Arya. The one constant adult in her life gone and with no indication of how any of her problems might be solved, if at all. But that's life. Sometimes there are sad or unjust endings, things don't always turn out the way they should. For a show that tried to steer clear of the BS this genre usually throws at us, I guess it fits.
I'm glad Bertie didn't stay with Randy just because she is a kind person and didn't want to hurt his feelings. I do think she should have ended that relationship before starting another, but I think it was in character that she didn't know how to have that conversation with him. I loved Bertie's retro 60s look at the wedding, by the way. Maybe she dressed that way for the whole series and I just now noticed it. It was kind of annoying how Randy made such a "poor me" speech before the first wedding, but again, it was in character for him to do so. It was probably even a sign of maturity on his part that he held himself back from making an even bigger scene.
I will miss all these characters. It wasn't the best show in the world (though I put off watching the final couple of episodes because I didn't want it to end), but most of the characters felt real and will probably be the kind I will wonder whatever happened to before remembering that they are fictional.

I was kind of surprised Bertie didn't show more compassion for Randy. I mean, he is trying to stop mooching off her and was trying to keep his homelessness a secret. I agree she deserves better but I wouldn't have expected Mickey to show more sympathy for Greg in the next scene than Bertie showed Randy. As for Mickey, I was impressed that she remained so calm through Greg's asking her that favor and through the radio show where Greg outed their one time affair...especially with no cigarettes. I have never smoked myself, but I know people who are really hooked on it come to need it really badly, especially under stress. Yeah, she caved in the end but she showed a level of maturity in this episode she didn't have in the first season.
I guess this was my imagination since no one else brought it up, but was that, um, innuendo from Arya when Gus asked her to be in his movie? "I will only do you one favor in this lifetime and you want to waste it on this?" They have such a nice vibe going with their current friendship...during season one his kindness to Arya was one of his few redeeming qualities...just please let no grossness enter the picture.

I liked Harris but I'm a stickler for details and it annoyed me that they made her younger than she should be. What would be so bad about having a 20 year old character versus a teen? She could be down on her luck and still living with her mother or a college student or a working girl who pops in now and then.
I'm not surprised Roseanne Conner would vote Trump but I am kind of surprised at the actress Roseanne's political views. For one, she is a Hollywood actress, and most of them are quite liberal. Also, she was accepting of gays long before it became okay to be, so it is odd that she would be so conservative. At one point it seemed like she was making everyone on the show gay. I remember the kiss between Roseanne's friend (can't remember her name) and her girlfriend caused a major stir. If they keep up with Roseanne expressing her political views in every episode she is going to start coming off like a female Archie Bunker. Lovable at times but with some antiquated ideas. Pretty sure that is not what actress Roseanne is going for though.
The author of a blog I sometimes read, who has a gender-fluid 11 year old, said that Sara Gilbert had consulted with her about the Mark character. The only thing that really surprised me about little Mark was his quick and definite reply when Dan asked if he felt like a girl or a boy. I'm not knowledgeable about such issues, though, so I am glad they are doing their homework.
I was also glad that Becky's age was mentioned in regard to her being a surrogate. On Fuller House, Kimmy (who is about Becky's age) is going to be Stephanie's surrogate and no one even mentioned how that might not be a good choice.
Like someone above, I was also confused about DJ's daughter. I had it in my mind that he probably married an AA woman and either adopted her child or married someone and they adopted together. I know genes can be unpredictable, but it just doesn't seem that this little girl could be his biological child. (Same on the Netflix show Everything Sucks - they cast a white father for the African American lead, though I hear on that show it was done for a reason that will be revealed). I never cared for DJ. He was about a year younger than me and I always thought the character was written as a whiny immature brat at times - he did become more bearable later. Is it definite that his wife will be the same girl he didn't want to kiss for the school play in the original show? That's kind of a nice tie-in with the history of the show if so.
I liked that they had David and Darlene's marriage not work out. It's realistic as many people do divorce and Darlene always kind of bossed him around. It didn't seem like a balanced relationship. Though it seems that Darlene has matured a great deal and has softened up. Also liked that they named their son after David's brother. I guess due to the kid Mark's age, original Mark has probably been gone at least 10 years.
I had actually forgotten that the Connors had a fourth child until Roseanne brought up Jerry. I do think they will get around to mentioning Jackie's son. Except for the thing about Harris's age and a few other things, they are being pretty good about these details.

I like that they've kept Arya on the show. She humanizes Gus and shows that, while he might not have always been the greatest person, he has potential to be a good father someday.

Was kind of surprised that Gus got SO pissed at that guy for cutting him off or whatever. I know he'd had a bad day, but seemed to be a huge overreaction.

Hey, hope I am doing this right - never started a topic on this board before. In this episode it appears Gus and Mickey have calmed down a bit and are maybe slightly better people than in previous seasons. They even go along with the trip to "Palm Springs" when they clearly don't want to go. I thought it was odd that Mickey's affair with Dustin from the last season while Gus was away working was never discussed - I assumed this season would be dealing with the fallout of Mickey's self-destructive behavior but that doesn't seem to be the case. I wondered, knowing this was the final season, if Mickey and Gus would end the series still together. Before seeing this episode I would have said definitely not, but then I remembered that it is based on Paul Rust's relationship with his real-life wife, so who knows. It is hard for me to imagine two people who both have so much growing up to do would be able to make it long-term without driving each other crazy.
In this episode Bertie, who IMO is the least neurotic and most normal character on the show, has a sort of meltdown at the end and tells everyone off as everyone has started fighting over the poor conditions of the house Randy had billed as being so wonderful. (I don't actually think Randy is such a bad person, but Bertie probably does deserve better.) There are some funny moments like when Randy insists on pretending the pool (with its black water) is swimmable, when the gang crash a party and Gus and Mickey pretend to be siblings and when the Asian porn Gus is watching on his phone is accidentally broadcast throughout the whole house. There seems to be building tension with the two couples both spending so much time in Mickey and Bertie's apartment, so maybe Gus and Mickey will end up living together at the end of the season. Though we are in season 3, Mickey and Gus have only known each other five months. Did anyone else watch this episode yet?

The Bar Mitzvah episode has been posted early to the Disney Now app. It starts out with Jonah ignoring Andi at the party as expected, but then when she meets the caricature artist that was hired for the party and they hit it off, Jonah becomes obviously jealous. At some point Cyrus finally comes out to Andi. He does this, as with Buffy, by admitting that he likes Jonah, not by saying he is gay or bi, which makes me wonder if Disney didn't ask them not to use certain words in the script. It'd odd to me because Cyrus rarely acts like he has a crush on Jonah any more. During the scene where Jonah is grilling Cyrus and Buffy about the guy Andi is dancing with and Cyrus and Buffy conclude that Jonah is jealous for once in his life, Cyrus seems to have no problem with this whatsoever. If his feelings are hurt in the slightest, he is damn good at hiding it.
The main three get their fortunes read by a fortune teller that was hired for the party. They each ask a yes or no question. Buffy's question is whether or not her mother is home for good or not and the lady answers no...but Buffy isn't either.
SpoilerIn the promo for the next episode it is said that Buffy might be moving. I don't really see this happening unless they are going to lose the actress for some reason. I think they wanted to show the realities of military life by throwing that out there as a possibility.
Bex and Bowie have some awkward moments about Bowie's new girlfriend, who as it turns out might be serious after all. However, in the end it appears they might be getting back together. Still, Bowie is with this Miranda girl and it might be interesting to see how Andi adjusts to all this and Miranda's little girl too.
TJ is at the party and keeps following Buffy around. He asked the fortune teller if he really has a learning disability and she said yes and to let his friend (Buffy) help him. TJ is becoming almost as confusing as Jonah. I'm still not quite sure what the purpose of this character is unless it is just to show that the main three have other friends besides each other.
Jonah has a panic attack at the party. It seems to be something he hasn't dealt with much in the past. I think maybe they included that scene to make us feel bad for Jonah, who really had no right to feel jealous after how he treated Andi. (And he does have my sympathies for that, but he is still a jerk. A very congenial jerk but still...) He arrives at Andi's house at the end and his lines to her kind of confuse me. He says something like he DOESN'T want her to be his girlfriend and he DOESN'T want to be her boyfriend but he wants them to be a "couple." Huh? Did I mishear that? Andi's response is to mimic Bex's response when Bowie proposed to her. "UM..."
SpoilerHowever, in the promo it appears that she DID take him back. She should have told him to turn his little jealous self around and walk out the door.
I am probably forgetting a lot. I did kind of like the Walker character. At least he showed genuine interest in Andi and seemed to be a nice kid. It was obvious Andi still wasn't over Jonah but he could have at least have been a distraction.

Poor Andi! I hope she takes the advice of another famous Andi (Pretty in Pink) in the Bar Mitzvah episode and let's him know he didn't break her. Although in Jonah's case, I think he doesn't even get that he did anything for her to be upset over. I know teenage boys are rather clueless when it comes to girls' feelings but this kid takes it to a whole other level. And I don't even know if it's anything that can be changed. I agree with the person who said Jonah probably needs to go. The actor is cute and likable (and his last name is actually Angel!?) but I just don't see what else this character can do. He's been pulling the same stuff for two seasons and it's getting tiring. And please don't have Jonah get jealous of this new boy Walker and get Andi's hopes up again. Enough is enough. I liked Andi's self-awareness scene at the end where she admits to Bex that she was never really anything to Jonah and it was mainly wishful thinking on her part. It is probably the kind of thing a lot of girls that age can relate to. The only way I would want Jonah to continue as a main character is if he became one of the main best friends on the show (platonic only) - look at the nice scenes he had with Buffy when she talked about how her mother's abscense made her feel. I actually liked him in those scenes.
I can't believe I was actually right about Buffy's mom showing up. I mean, what else would Buffy dropped the ball for? But I'm never right. I'm still kind of waffling on whether the writers are intending the TJ character for Buffy or Cyrus (if anyone). Right now I'm thinking Cyrus. I could not believe TJ STILL wouldn't pass Buffy the ball after she cheated for him. He obviously has no tender feelings for her currently...and look how the writers keep making sure Cyrus and TJ have scenes together.

At first I thought Max was overly harsh, but then I guess I wouldn't expect him to just shrug something like that off. At least he didn't throw Kat's crush in her face, like "you just wanted me for yourself!" or something equally stupid and hurtful. But yeah, it doesn't seem like Brigitte is all that into Max. I hope we will get to meet her, though, to see if she's anything like Kat's fantasy.
