Watching the reruns on CMT. Tonight they aired the episode where Marjorie receives the community award. Can’t figure out why the producers did not use this episode as the series finale. Even though the series lost its spark in season 8 with no Christy, I thought this episode was heartwarming and a nice way to end the series.

What is the name of the band who played the hospital banquet in the episode “Diamond in the Rough”?

Watching the first few episodes of the series on TV Land today and it’s funny to see how the character Joyce was first presented. She had this weird hillbilly accent going on :) Definitely glad they developed this character more.

Hallmark released the preview of the Sophia ornament. I will say they could have chosen more memorable lines but love it anyway 😀

Mitchell Ryan, who played Rex Huntington, passed away. Probably the most hated Golden Girl character IMO anyway.

Wow this book really stinks. And hey surprise it’s 90% about her ex-husband . It was touted as a book about where she comes to terms with liking her body and not needing to lose the weight I just assumed it was going to be more about her life and how she deals with such things. I didn’t know it was going to be such a bummer.
How, in the fall of 2020 when Covid was raging, was she able to go see her ex-husband in the hospital every day? She writes the room included not just her but her son, her ex-husband‘s wife, his brother etc. I was not allowed to even walk into the hospital with a relative when she was having a procedure. I had to stay in the car! No visiting. People died alone. I don’t think California was all that lax. Something sounds wrong. They are celebrities. Completely different rules for the “haves” during this entire COVID ordeal.

Quoting @Desert Rat from “Dolly’s Journey”-
I think that by 2020/2021 many individuals who would be the “inspiring story” may have started watching the show, researching, starting to reduce calories on their own and seeking local medical treatment for their obesity. At this point everyone knows how reality tv works- someone who has the emotional maturity, commitment, social support etc to deal with their obesity and not be a “train wreck” likely wouldn’t want to be on the show. I just think of the privacy issues alone.
Also- although the USA is getting bigger and bigger, being this morbidly obese is still REALLY RARE. Unless you’re 6’5, it’s hard to be 600lbs and function as an independent adult in society. Most of us that struggle with obesity, still have to work for a living, take care of our families/pets, drive cars etc- it’s very hard to become that large even with a sedentary office job if you’re living independently. Lots of people are Obese Class I or II, but not the size of these participants.
That’s probably why I think we are not seeing so many inspiring stories. Also the pandemic did effect filming and selection of participants I am sure.
Great points.

To put it bluntly, what in God’s name has happened to this show. The episode the other night with Dolly was a version of Jerry Springer. Dysfunction on top of dysfunction. Maybe I am in the minority but I want to see successes and the reality of those who take a serious approach to their weight loss.

Enjoying the Golden Girls marathon on TV land. It is bittersweet but reminds me how much I missed the Sunday marathons on TV land (sorry but airing the Girls only until Noon doesn’t cut it) and the non existent airings on Hallmark. RIP Betty , you brought joy to so many.

Have you heard of an outfit called Lasagna Love? You sign up and someone will deliver a home made lasagna right to your door! https://www.lasagnalove.org
Great project. My daughter has participated twice with Girl Scouts and it’s a great organization. We delivered to the elderly in our community and they were much appreciative.

Currently watching the “Where Are They Now” mini marathon and will say the success stories are so much more entertaining and really is what drew me into the show originally. I know we all love a train wreck but with the current state of the world it is comforting and inspiring to see the patients who have succeeded. Brings some hope. Just my two cents:) Happy and Healthy New Year everyone.

Hope everyone is well 🙂 Is Logo still airing episodes?

I know this has been mentioned in other posts but why are the writers going back and forth about the existence of Violet and Roscoe? Violet was shown this season but this week when Bonnie was in the kitchen and telling her foster mom what a great family she has there was zero mention of them. It is very annoying. I understand they wanted to switch the focus of the show from the family to friends but how can you just ignore the history of the show, especially with it being in syndication.

Most crouton packages also list the gram equivalent per serving size. I follow WW and use a food scale to measure out croutons when I add them to a salad.
