I agree there’s no way Scully would suddenly be like, “oh well; he was just an experiment; who cares?” But I could maybe buy that she was just in shock/grief and trying to make herself & M feel better. But about William’s origins... we never get any evidence/corroboration that M isn’t William’s father except for the CSM just saying so, right? CSM tells Skinner, who tells Scully. Also, about Scully not being his mother: we know from Ghouli that she’s his biological mother (DNA test). We know she carried him, gave birth, raised him for almost a year, has a psychic link with him, and pined/worried/regreted for 16 years. But she was never a mother to him? Okay... Heck, even with Mulder, if you’ve got the emotional investment and go risking your life to find the kid, is it really the (lack of a) biological link that matters?

I agree with all of this. But I wonder if CC didn’t set up the St Rachel thing as a way to continue The X-Files Scully-free. Ugh, I hope not, though.
-
That, and the scene where he’s in the body bag and she tells him. Apocalypsogram- I like it!

I thought Mulder’s line about not being a father was strange— he never really got to be a father to William. But I can forgive that as him just being upset/shocked by what just happened. But I was hoping/expecting Scully would tell him something about his value to her, his work, anything— not just that it’s all okay because he’ll get another chance to be a father.

I would really hate that development, but it would match up if you follow the St Rachel Hotel (where miracle baby 2.0 was conceived in Plus One) symbolism to its conclusion, since Rachel died in childbirth with her second child. Unrelatedly: how would William know that Mulder was CSM’s son? And if Scully has a psychic link with William, can’t she tell if he’s dead or alive?
-
Well, that was... bloody. I think Mulder killed about 10 people in the first 15 minutes, then with William making everyone explode.... Do we know if Skinner survived? Hopefully the CSM is really dead this time. I didn’t really understand why Scully didn’t go with Mulder to search for William. I also still don’t fully understand why everyone wants William. What exactly will they do with him? Did CSM go ahead and unleash the contagion? It was nice to see Skinner fully & actively on the side of M & S. At least Mulder & Scully weren’t separated or on death’s door at the end.

Regarding linking the two people’s hearts, apparently heterochronic parabiosis has actually been done to mice and involves connecting the circulatory system of two individuals. I don’t know the research goals of this practice but thought that was interesting (& a little creepy). Regarding what Scully whispered, if we never find out, I guess the writer doesn’t know either? But I can’t really think of anything besides something relating to William for which Mulder’s response would make any sense.

According this interview, we never get to find out what was whispered. Grrrr. https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/live-feed/x-files-what-did-scully-whisper-mulder-1094323

This one was a little too gory for me. A few scenes of blood & guts— fine. But how many times did we need to see organs in the blender? I did enjoy the M & S scenes. Are we to assume that the “leap of faith” mentioned at the end is searching for William? Mulder looked surprised when Scully said, “are we together?” Was that because he thought they were together, or because he wasn’t talking about that at all?

Season 11 Spoilers and Spoiled Speculation

Hopefully the thing that doesn’t last forever is CC’s coyness, denial, & inconsistency about M & S’s relationship. But I doubt it. -
I understood it to be just one of the manifestations of the curse/Satan/evil. It showed up as the characters to lure the kids, as Joann to lure the head cop, etc.

Well, that was a really creepy episode. The part with the mob where the cop shot the “pedophile” was so disturbing. I found this episode much more interesting than last week’s, though. Did Mulder call Scully his homey?
-
Well, I can show this episode to my spouse to explain why I don’t want an amazon echo. ;-) Honestly, though, I didn’t find the episode very interesting. Hearing Mulder & Scully talk about their cases, and interact with each other and other people is a lot of what makes the show enjoyable for me. The “silent” episode angle felt forced, too. I guess we got to see Scully’s house... in direct contrast to her calling Mulder’s house “our home” in episode 2. It seemed like they kept showing us “This Man” intentionally in the shootout scene. Anyone catch that? Oh well. At least week’s episode looks really creepy.

It wasn’t clear to me whether Davey had been killing people all along, or if it had been his dad killing people, and he just tried to kill Skinner because he blamed him for the family’s problems.

I thought this episode was just okay. I like Skinner, I just felt like they could have done more with his story and tied it more to recent events, CSM, etc. A few things I must have missed... did Davy send the ear to Skinner? Did Kitten kill himself, or did Davy kill him? What was the deal with Davy’s mom?
