  1. "Food Network is also experimenting with shooting some of its upcoming holiday food programming outdoors rather than on sets, as has been done in the past. The shows “Halloween Baking Championship,” “Holiday Baking Championship,” “Kids Baking Championship” and “Spring Baking Championship” have recently begun filming at a resort in California — one after the other, over the course of the next few months. After the cast and crew test negative, they quarantine at the resort. As with “Restaurant: Impossible” and “Diners,” these shows will look different — reflecting the altered world in small ways."
  2. Discovery Family Channel running KBC reruns on Tuesday evenings!
  3. Answering my own questions: - Season 6 (Paige, Karthik, Davis, etc) might have had the best baking talent overall. But I also thought Season 4 had the best top 5 (Linsey, Bryn, Abby, Alex, Julia). Season 4 also had some of the worst. - For me, hands down I loved Linsey and Bryn the most. Funny, smart, mature and just flat out adorable. - Davis (season 6), Cole (season 3), Yashimabet (season 2) are the most talented as bakers. - Yashimabet's finals cake, Linsey's galaxy cookies and finals cake.
  4. I will admit I'm just not feeling it this season. Maybe I'm overdosed on it? lol Am curious to hear what you think of the following: - What season had the best overall talent? - What season had the most enjoyable kids to watch? - Who are the top 3 bakers across all seasons on the show? - What were the top 3 most memorable things baked across all seasons? Yes, I have a lot of time on my hands. lol
  5. Wasn't able to watch the episodes when they aired, so just caught up last night on DVR. First thing I noticed was that a few of the kids seemed more physically mature than in previous seasons. In particular, Morgan and Saleem look and sound like teenagers, as do a few of the others. They are younger, but seems like they've hit those growth spurts a little early? There are definitely some younger and pre-growth-spurt kids too, but my overall impression is that these kids are older. I liked the challenges in both episode. In both this and last season, the kids seem to be more confident and at ease in the kitchen than in early episodes of previous seasons. I wonder if they do something with the kids before the competition starts? Like some kind of orientation? Earlier seasons had more mistakes in the early episodes, so maybe the show has adjusted for that. So far, Reggie seems to be the most talented (or at least the most experienced) baker. Avner also seems to be really good. In general, though, it feels like this cast might be the best set of bakers 1-12 so far. Other seasons have had some great bakers together with some not-so-great bakers. Having said that, I also think I agree that there aren't really any standout personalities here (yet).
  6. New season starting January 6! https://www.foodnetwork.com/shows/kids-baking-championship/episodes/beyond-the-fringe
  7. Maybe the others were unavailable? Fwiw, the Halloween special described them as "4 fan favorites", and I assume that was true for this one too. Can't wait for the new season in January!
  8. I like Nyah! But you will enjoy the ending of this episode 🙂
  9. Anyone else watch the North Pole episode? The kids were awesome! So fun! They all grew up so much, and all of their best personality traits have grown as well.
  10. Looks like there is a Holiday episode airing this Sunday! No mention of which kids are on it: https://www.foodnetwork.com/shows/kids-baking-championship/episodes/north-pole-edition The young bakers must think on their feet as Valerie Bertinelli and Duff Goldman challenge them to fill a mini fireplace mantel with "santastic" sweets. Special guest Casey Webb helps choose the winner of the baker's dream prize package of top-of-the-line baking equipment worth over $10,000.
  11. They've finally added Season 4 and Season 7 to Hulu.com! Not sure why Seasons 5 and 6 aren't there, tho.
  12. Yes, was very fun to see those kids. My gosh, Bryn seems so mature now! Not that she was immature on her original KBC appearance, but she definitely seemed more like a high schooler now (even though she is still only 13). And she is almost as tall as Valerie!
  13. I think I remember in past seasons where the kids reacted to their jokes, so I would assume they do them while they are baking. But I do wonder if sometimes they film some of the comments they make observing what the kids are doing (eg. "look, she's using too much butter!" or "ooo, look at how he is straining his strawberries"). I can't imagine they are standing there for the full 2hrs of baking.
  14. Congrats to Trevin for the win, and Sophie and Tarek for doing great! While I agree that it was obvious after the cakes were presented that it was between Trevin and Sophie, I thought that it was because theirs were so good, not that Tarek's was lacking. Having said that, I do agree with the judges that Tarek going with the chocolate cake 4-5 times during the season was a bit of a knock against him, too. Enjoyable season overall, but more because these kids were all pretty likable with decent skills. Definitely wish they had a greater variety of challenges over the weeks - other than the pie and the imposter week, everything was a cake. Btw - looks like some of the favorites from past seasons will be competing next week on Kids Halloween Baking Championship!
  15. Sophie and Trevin's pies/ice creams were definitely a step above the other two, so very happy to see them win and move on to the finals! Bummed that my early-season pick, Taylor, was eliminated, but that became very obvious as soon as she had to remove the crust from her pie. And hate to say it, but her decorating this time was not very pretty. I'll say that I like Tarek. I don't think he's arrogant, but that he's actually just really awkward. All-in-all, I enjoyed this episode. Not all that challenging, particularly as a semi-final, but I enjoyed watching the kids and their interactions. Of course, next week in the finale, they will do yet another cake, but hopefully the challenge will make them really stretch their skills.
  16. They showed her with the shredder a lot more than with the peeler.
  17. With 4 of the 5 challenges being cake (or cupcake), I'm really not finding this season very interesting. Yes, they did a nice job with the flavors, but it would be so much better if they changed it up more. At least some of the hedgehogs and bugs looked cool, but still not all that interesting. I'm assuming that the finale will also be a big cake, so again, not the most exciting. Glad that 2 of my 3 picks from week one are still in it. I like Taylor to win it all now, though I think Sophie will also have a strong chance to win, as will Tarek if things go smoothly for him. Trevin seems like he's not having a very good time and seems uninspired.
  18. This was the first challenge that wasn't just a cake or cupcake, so this was really the first test to see what else these kids can do. Compared to some of the past desert imposters, most of these did fall short. Thought the poke bowl should have won, as it was the best imposter and apparently tasted pretty good (especially with the mousse, which the judges noted), while the kebob looked more like candy-on-a-stick than it did an imposter. But the rest of the imposters really fell short. Thought Taylor's sushi should have finished higher than the ramen bowl, and that the bottom two were pretty uninspired. Looks like next week's challenge is another cake. 😞
  19. How did Linsey's bologna sandwich not make this album?! https://www.foodnetwork.com/shows/kids-baking-championship/photos/the-best-dessert-imposters
  20. From a baking perspective, seems like these first 3 challenges were pretty simple: Cake, cupcake, cake-using-cake-mold. And decorating hasn't been all that challenging either. Anyone else agree? Was feeling pretty good about my two early picks making the top 2, but then my 3rd got eliminated. Better than last season, though! Agree with others that I thought Tarek should have been bottom 2, but ultimately agreed with the choice for elimination. Looking forward to next week's imposter challenge!
