Do you think season twelve will provide all the answers as well as the key to everything?
-
What a horrible episode, and insulting as well.
-
I really liked this one. It's probably my favorite after "Ghouli", although there's a gap between them. To be clear, overall it's just OK, nothing more than that, and pales in comparison to XF greats, but within the revival itself it's good. I enjoyed it 10x more than "Familiar".

Season 11 Spoilers and Spoiled Speculation
EUROTRASH replied to FormerMod-a1's topic in The X-Files [V]
Alright, here we go: * * * - Skinner gets killed by CSM, run over with a car. - Reyes gets killed by William, he makes her head explode. - Several bad guys die by William making their heads explode. - Erika Price gets shot in the head and dies. - Mr. Y gets shot in the head and dies. - The episode ends like this: It appears that Mulder gets shot, but it's actually William manipulating reality. Mulder and Scully believe William is dead, but then we see him pop out of the river with a bullet in his head, alive. The thing is, they don't know that, and that's how it ends. And Scully herself never actually gets to meet him nor speak to him in the episode. * * * Now go watch the trailer carefully, and pay attention to certain shots by hitting pause and here and there. -
Season 11 Spoilers and Spoiled Speculation
EUROTRASH replied to FormerMod-a1's topic in The X-Files [V]
Because the spoilers are pretty shocking, it is perhaps best to spread them through private messages or something. I'm assuming Tardislass already sent you the link? Anyway, after you read the spoilers, and then watch the trailer, and analyze certain shots in the trailer, you will see that there is a very high chance they are accurate. The source who provided the spoilers is a person who revealed very specific details to "Plus One" all the way back in December when we didn't know anything. They also posted these finale spoilers before the trailer was released, not after. They also deleted almost everything they posted later, but people were able to retrieve it through "removeddit". It would be cool if a moderator could say whether it'd be OK to just post all the spoilers right in this thread. -
Season 11 Spoilers and Spoiled Speculation
EUROTRASH replied to FormerMod-a1's topic in The X-Files [V]
This new trailer pretty much confirms the recent spoilers, the most shocking ones on Reddit, from the source who spilled the beans on Plus One way back in December. You can find them on Twitter. If someone needs a link I'll post them. But yeah... there are no words to describe some of the things that will almost certainly happen in the finale. Truly beyond words. Even though I think of the revival as nothing but a joke, I still can't wrap my head around something from the finale spoilers. If true, just wow. Is it allowed to post the link or just paste everything right into this thread? -
I appreciate the idea but not the execution. There was no need for the completely out-of-character portrayals and abysmal continuity. The episode indicates that Mulder and Scully are nothing more than props to 1013. Scully's "high-tech" home is only there because it fits the completely self-contained individual plot of the episode. It is also implied Mulder was never at her house, which makes no sense. Continuity is completely irrelevant at this point. Was it really that difficult to have Daggoo in her home? How about anything at all that tells you it's Scully's place? No, instead we got a vibrator. Fine. There are just so many things that are wrong. And four episodes away from the series finale, this one does not advance anything. I did enjoy it much more than "Kitten" though.

Which is more or less what I said. Re-hashed themes, but in terms of quality incomparable IMO.
-
Because he's a good actor and deserved better than to be part of a very bad X-Files episode. In my view, of course. And I have to lol @ some comments outside this forum comparing it to "Sleepless" and "Blood". Aside from some rehashed themes, the quality is really incomparable. Those two episodes are spectacular.
-
I didn't like this episode. It had some OK moments and that's that. Aside from some quality directing, the rest was quite mediocre. To each their own as always. I also feel really bad for Osment being part of this. Looking very forward to episode eight though. Episode seven not so much.

No, not everyone loves the episode. The majority does, but not everyone. You will find fans who call it one of the worst episodes of the entire series. It's a different opinion, so what? The fandom exists outside of this forum you know. And no, not every critic loves it either. See here: http://www.tracking-board.com/the-x-files-review-the-lost-art-of-forehead-sweat/ What you're saying about IMDb is false as well. Currently "Ghouli" rates higher, although that may change. There was also a significant ratings drop after "Forehead Sweat". I can also give you plenty of tweets from people who despised it. Look, bias plays a huge role. Dislike for what CC has done with the revival plus love for Darin's original XF episodes, and what you get as a result is many people praising literally anything by Darin Morgan. He could make an episode with a blank screen for 42 minutes and some people would call it brilliant IMO. There are people including myself who enjoyed My Struggle III more than Forehead Sweat. So what? You're a fan of the series, and I'm a fan of the series. Different tastes, and different influences. If you feel "disrespected" by my opinion then feel free to use the forum's ignore feature.

On Channel 5, The X Files returned with fewer than a million viewers as just 800,000 tuned in to the start of the new series. https://tellymix.co.uk/ratings/350536-ratings-silent-witness-next-kin-x-files-soap-viewing-figures.html 2016 rating for MS1 were 3.35 million.

Episode 7 is titled "Rm9sbg93zxjz", and it means "followers". -
I agree with you. Frank Spotnitz + Vince Gilligan + James Wong + Glen Morgan + Chris Carter having very limited involvement = perfect X-Files revival I wouldn't mind Darin Morgan if it were the Darin from the original series, but the revival's Darin just doesn't appeal to me.
-
Love for Forehead Sweat is not universal. Yes it's the majority, but you'll still find plenty of people including myself who find it one of the worst episodes of the entire series. It's just the "written by Darin Morgan" thing which makes people go WOWWWW it's so brilliant. Not all fans are like that of course, but I do know people who knew nothing about it but said they know they're gonna love it just because it's Darin Morgan. Critics function similarly. Hate for what CC has done in the revival plus love for Darin Morgan's unique (and brilliant) episodes from the original series results in many of them praising it just because it's Darin. Think of it as a popular brand that some people will love no matter what. That said, S11 isn't to blame for the ratings. Only S10 is to blame. Clearly, people kept watching S10 hoping things would be turned around by MS2. After the disaster that was MS2, many fans left, but those with some remaining hope chose to give MS3 a chance. The rest is self explanatory. And after a completely unnecessary Skinner-centric episode followed by a two week break, there's a chance the ratings could drop further down.
-
I really loved Ghouli, as I wrote in the official episode 5 thread. However, the ratings significantly dropped after Forehead Sweat, which is not surprising IMO: Ep 1 Early Nationals: 1.4 demo with 5.19 million viewers Ep 2 Early Nationals: 1.0 demo with 3.89 million viewers Ep 3 Early Nationals: 1.1 demo with 3.94 million viewers Ep 4 Early Nationals: 1.0 demo with 3.86 million viewers Ep 5 Early Nationals: 0.9 demo with 3.55 million viewers ‘X-Files’ Sinks to New Low https://variety.com/2018/tv/news/9-1-1-fox-ratings-x-files-1202684065/amp/ The news was not so rosy for “The X-Files,” which hit a new series low on Fox at 8 where it drew a 0.9 and 3.6 million viewers, pending updates. The latter show is now halfway through it second season since it was revived on Fox in 2016 and is currently averaging less than half of the audience the first season drew in Live+Same Day

That was already established in the season 11 premiere though. Scully says: "My visions are from William. I don't know how, but I know that he's guiding me. And you."
-
I immensely enjoyed it! Do I think it was perfect/flawless? No. But it was very, very good. The writing and directing, the acting by GA. I also enjoyed Miles as William. The episode gave me the feels. Makes me sad that there are so many standalones though. Maybe the powers that be have realized that at this point we need episodes like these which drive the characters and affect the larger picture, but it's too late now. I don't think a 42-min finale can bring a satisfying resolution, but then again I don't consider the revival canon. Be as it may, I really liked the episode. Good stuff. :)

Season 11 Spoilers and Spoiled Speculation
EUROTRASH replied to FormerMod-a1's topic in The X-Files [V]
I don't think Ghouli is a real physical monster. Read my previous post where I speculate about it. It seems likely that William makes the monster appear in other people. The teaser sequence with girls attacking each other is probably him doing it unintentionally, but he might do it again intentionally towards the end of the episode to get rid of some bad guys. There are also hints that he appears to Scully at a gas station through another person. She sees him in a stranger, or something. Yes, there is a gunshot in that house, but could it be that him lying on the floor in the house isn't really him, but another instance of Scully seeing him in other people? Because, we have the whole snow globe sequence where Scully talks about sending/receiving messages, presumably at the same house, and him "appearing" behind her. I don't see how all of that can happen if she believes he's dead pretty early in the episode. He may "die" later on in the episode and then resurrect. I mean, it's obvious that she's looking at his dead body in a body bag in the promo, and he later "rises" out of the bag. Lots to think about. And no, the Scully immortality thing was never clearly established. It's more of a joke than anything else. That said, there's a possibility William might heal her after those gunshot wounds. -
Season 11 Spoilers and Spoiled Speculation

I hate it when they release these clips. I mean, they're not trailers, they're entire scenes or almost entire scenes. It takes strong will-power not to watch them, and it's difficult, lol. I didn't mind it for some other episodes, but no way am I watching any Ghouli clips except for trailers. I think it's safe to say that William is the cause for the girls harming each other in the teaser, although he'll do it unintentionally. But I think there's a chance he could use the same ability to get rid of some bad guys at the end of the episode. We know from photos that Mulder speaks to two guys, one of them being the guy who shoots Scully in the promos. And we also see the "Ghouli" monster in a different location in the promos, not on a ship but inside a room, maybe the same location where the shooting takes place. Perhaps, just as the girls turned on one another on the ship, William will use his abilities to make the two bad guys turn on one another at the end. They might see the monster in each other and kill each other. It also wouldn't surprise me if William heals a wounded Scully. -
