Oh dear god, not Kim Rollins!! Why the fuck are they bringing her back? The writers love shoving Benson and Rollins personal drama down our throats, even though most viewers don’t want it. Kim Rollins is one of the worst and most annoying characters in SVU’s history, the last thing we need is for her to come back. I hate the whole Rollins family and wish they would all just go back to their trailer park. I don’t know of many fans who like these soapy stories, but the writers insist on having them and especially shoving Benson and Rollins personal crap to the forefront. Honestly, the show sucks now for the most part.

I know!!!  The original photo is on Lindsay Pulsipher’s Instagram page; she is the actress that portrays the horror show known as Kim Rollins. I almost puked; I think my eyes started bleeding.  It is a certainty that we are going to have another hour of Rollins drama.  It looks like they are in an interrogation room or in prison.

  2. Please read the second line under episode description - 1st name listed.  Am I completely incoherent or hallucinating? Is this an error? Leight has made it known that he wanted some actors to return, with Raul being one of them.  He also has been known to not announce that certain popular actors may be sneaking in an appearance, ie Donal Logue. Could it be true?

No, the writers want to put Benson through a ton of soapy angst just for drama. I’m sick of Benson’s personal drama, why can’t they just leave it alone and focus on writing good cases?

I’m surprised there wasn’t a final Noah-Benson-Tucker scene to add to the angst of Tucker’s terminal cancer.  A running underlying theme over all 21 seasons is Benson’s continued lack of happiness and fulfillment in her personal relationships, mostly by her own choice.  I’m sure that trend isn’t ending anytime soon.  With the soap opera mentality of this show at times,  the series finale will probably have a focus on Benson finally getting her happy ending.

I still wished that they didn’t kill Tucker off; I think Bobby Burke is a fantastic actor.  He actually enhanced and elevated other actors’ abilities in his scenes.

Side note: I just saw a picture of the actress who portrays Kim Rollins filming a scene with Mariska; Ice T was in the background.  Dear God almighty.  I’m not ready.

  4. I agree with Xeliou66’s post.  It was obvious who the culprit was from the beginning.  I also didn’t understand why Ralphie committed suicide outside of worrying his wife was going to find out about his infidelity; I’m guessing it was supposed to be a red herring.

I did think that it was appropriate to have Fin consoling Benson at the end of the episode.  It was sad for them to kill off Tucker.  I was surprised that he committed suicide; I would have thought he would have been a fighter.  Having  cancer as a result of being a first responder on 9/11 seemed appropriate considering how many first responders have dealt with  cancer.  I believe Bobby Burke was a first responder on 9/11; hopefully, he is healthy.

Carisi still seems like he is understandingly trying to get his confidence as an ADA.  I bet Rollins would have loved to have perp-walked Tucker.  I’m not sure why Rollins seemed so shaken in the squadroom with the announcement that Lindstrom was going to provide assistance; was she upset about the suicide or her hostage situation? I still think she is due to go off the rails soon.

Your whole comment is wrong! In your statement "he killed multiple  people In reaction...", the "I" in the word "In", should not be capitalized. Therefore your entire premise is invalid.

    All kidding aside, well said!

Haha... I must work on my proofreading!! I just had lumbar spinal fusion surgery; can I blame it on that?  Lol...wasn’t even sure if I would make a coherent comment.  I’m hoping to stay awake during tonight’s episode;  I just watched the last episode yesterday.   🤪

I am a little confused here, concerning the classification of the Stucky character. Was his level of evil up there with Benson's arch-nemesis William Lewis or was he just annoying as hell? I don't know exactly what the motivation was for the hatred for Stucky by the viewers.

Stuckey was annoying as hell; he also thought he knew everything about forensic science but didn’t and was schooled by O’Halloran on a number of occasions.  He was not even remotely close to the same scale of William Lewis-evil, but killing  O’Halloran, a popular recurring character, was the final nail on the coffin.  He became unhinged in his last episode; to be fair, he was bullied and demeaned by Stabler on a routine basis.   If my memory serves me correctly,  he killed multiple  people In reaction to a mistake he made in court; his error led to the exoneration of a criminal.  He was attempting to frame the criminal to “correct” the error; O’Halloran figured out what he did and Stuckey  killed him.  I haven’t seen this episode(? “Zebras”) in awhile, so please correct me if I’m wrong.

That is exactly my prediction as well. I don’t see them making Tucker into a true villain given his relationship with Benson but I’m thinking he will try to protect the real villain, one of his friends, and Benson will confront him about it.

They will never bring Stuckey back IMO, most fans hate that storyline and the character and I don’t see how he could get out of prison or what the point would be of it. It still pisses me off how they killed off O’Halloran in such a cheap way and then didn’t even have the decency to mention his death or have the characters pay tribute to him in any way, he was a good recurring character and killing him off was a big mistake.

I also hated how they never acknowledged O’Halloran’s death on the show outside of Stabler looking at his dead body on the floor.  Loved his character;  he added technical expertise  to cases and brought some humor to the show. Haha... I always thought he had a crush on Stabler.   FYI... Mike Doyle, who played O’Halloran, has a recurring role on New Amsterdam as Iggy’s husband.  I’m with the majority who hated Stuckey.

I’m really hoping they don’t destroy Tucker’s character in this episode.  I actually liked how they portrayed his and Benson’s relationship on the show; ironic considering that I used to hate Tucker in earlier episodes and don’t care for too much focus on personal lives.  There weren’t gratuitous scenes like there is with Noah.  I really hope this isn’t Bobby Burke’s last episode.

Now on to the story - it was average, it was better than part 1, the best scenes were with Carisi and Garland working together, I like Garland, I still miss Dodds but I’m liking Garland’s style a lot as well, and him and Carisi working together to bully Judge Perv and arrest Getz and his lawyer was very good.

There was some stuff left unanswered, what will appendix to Getz’ lawyer and girlfriend. Surely they have some evidence against powerful people, will they get deals or will they rot in jail?

Kat had the right to question Rollins, Rollins is an unethical trainwreck, and I didn’t like Carisi junping her.

I like Garland and Kat, also.  Great additions to the cast;  hopefully, the show runners don’t screw them up.  I’m surprised no one else thought that Rollins may have been in on it, considering they know her history better than the newbie would.

  9. Overall, I thought it was a good episode in terms of acting and mediocre in terms of storyline.  Nick Turturro and Kelli Giddish both did an outstanding job in portraying the roller coaster of emotions during their scenes. No one really did a bad job tonight; other honorable mentions include Peter Scanavino and the actress playing the therapist.

Storyline fell a little short.  I’m sure everyone was thrilled to know Noah made it into the Nutcracker; they could have used that 1 minute or 2 on the case.  It didn’t make sense to me that Getz committed suicide if he thought he had a shot at getting a deal or off completely; that needed to be fleshed out some more.  Of course, it had to end with Benson lamenting  about how the victims weren’t going to get their day in court.  If I was a victim and had a choice between reliving the nightmare in court or finding out the perp was dead , I would be doing a happy dance/throw a party/ etc to know he/she was dead.

Other random thoughts:   If I was Bucci, I would have duct taped Rollins mouth shut; heck, or just shot her to shut her up.  I’m guessing Rollins now realizes she needs to have a good man in her life, so “Rollisi” fans may get what they want.  Did Kelli Giddish lose a lot of weight? She has always been very slim but seems to have taken it to a whole new level.

  10. I’m calling it now.  Between the stress of raising 2 young kids, whatever that debacle from last week was about, possibility of her father re-entering her life and having a gun held to her head then kidnapped,  Rollins is about ready to head off the deep end again.

  11. Oh my...not sure what to say about this episode.  Not enough carisi.  I am noticing that Kat tends to go off track very easily.  Rollins was true to self about wanting to take the side of Adler over what is happening with his practice.  I still find it reprehensible that this show, which is all about female empowerment, continues to present women as unpredictable/untrustworthy/labile; Fin, Carisi and the new deputy chief seem to be the only level-headed figures.  I was seriously hoping that Kat would be presented as a smart, empathetic, and level-headed SVU squad member.

  12. I really liked her in this past episode.  She was sensitive to Lupe’s ordeal but maintained her professionalism.  Benson and Rollins could take a few lesssons from her.  This was a case that could have caused her to forget her boundaries since she was from the projects herself but she didn’t.  I hope that they don’t screw her up with a myriad of personal issues like they did with Rollins in particular.

  13. I liked the case of the week and how it spun off into another case.  In recent years,  the original case was essentially forgotten in deference to wherever the case spun but they continued to tie in Lupe throughout the episode.  The guest cast was great; I especially liked the young actress who played Lupe.  The Queens ADA (?Wentworth Miller) was a little wooden.  The storyline featuring Carlos was both somewhat far fetched and realistic at the same time.  It’s  completely believable that a Latino man would want to hide being gay but to the extent that he would rather be portrayed as his sister’s rapist and murderer and mother’s murderer than a gay man?  I really liked Kat this episode; she was sensitive and smart without being too overly emotional- Benson and Rollins should take note.   I was surprised benson allowed her to take the lead in interviewing Lupe. Nice to see the dynamic duo of Carisi and Fin working together again.

It was a travesty to have Dr. Warner back for just 1 scene that tied into benson’s personal life only.  I was so pissed about this; whoever made this decision should be fired.  Why bring Simon back just to kill him off other than for the sole purpose of adding to Benson’s ongoing personal angst?  Ridiculous side story.

  14. I thought this was the best episode of the season to date.  There was a variety of victims (although they couldn’t resist having the rich white girl as 1 of the cases) and good detective work.  I enjoyed Fin’s interactions with the son and Kat’s Interactions with the transgender victim.  I think Kat is going to need to bring it down a few notches ; it’s inevitable that she is going to massively screw up at some point.  It was probably a more realistic portrayal of a Normal day in the life of a squad than usual, ie working on multiple cases at once rather than just focusing on 1 case.  Benson also needs to remember that she’s not Carisi’s boss anymore and Carisi needs to remind her of this.  It was inappropriate for her to order Carisi to go along with Kat to the country club.  I’m still having a hard time hearing him referred to as “Mr. Carisi” rather than “Detective Carisi”.

It’s not a shock to figure out which part of the episode I disliked: Rollins’ meltdown.  Obviously fatigue played a part in it but a 40+ year old woman sounding like a 2 year old having a temper tantrum was ridiculous.  She came across as a whiny, selfish shrew.  Instead of just snapping about how overworked they were since he left, she made it about him leaving her and her alone.  The look he gave her made me think that he was thinking to himself: “thank God she turned me down when I tried to hook up with her”.  Also noted that she picked up and promptly hung up on a caller/possible victim/witness so she could continue with her tantrum.

I did get a laugh about not using the word “quiet”.   As a RN, the   Q word is banned. Nice to know nurses are not the only superstitious work groups out there .

From "Ask Ausiello" on TVLine:  Question: I’m dying to know anything about Benson, Rollins, Carisi and Finn in SVU‘s new season. Anything! —Janna
Ausiello: I can tell you that one of the people you mentioned makes a huge move in the premiere, and that switch-up is poised to have repercussions throughout the season… and perhaps the series?

The more I read and the less behind-the-scenes photos I see of  Carisi are giving me the feeling he is going to be the new ADA.  It is making me ill.  Over the past several seasons, there has been more of a focus on the “order” side rather than the “law” side.  Less Carisi is not a good thing.  One thing they have gotten right recently was pairing up Fin and Carisi; it’s a shame if they break that pairing up.

Less carisi and 1 less detective in the squad room equates to more benson and Rollins.  I doubt that they will have more Fin-centric episodes.  I just saw another photo from filming today that features Noah; I think that is the 3rd episode he is in so far out of 5-6 episodes filmed so far.  Not a good sign.  One of the writers just tweeted about missing Kim Rollins; I hope to God that wasn’t a hint of things to come.  I think Donal Logue/ Murphy is on board for making an appearance(s), which obviously will be Rollins-related drama.  I’m seriously worried about the ratio of crime- related story to personal drama  we are going to get this season.  Like I’ve said in the past, a little bit of light on the personal lives is ok, like how they handle Fin’s, but not the majority of an episode.

**Sorry,  Xeliou66 & dttruman.  I was still typing my response up while you already got yours in and I didn’t see them until after I hit the submit button.  **

Carisi as the ADA is where my mind went as well, and I don’t think that would be good. Not only would it be completely unrealistic (it might be the most unrealistic thing this show has ever done) but worse than that, I’m afraid it would be like having Benson in charge of the ADA: Carisi has been working for Benson for several years, I can’t imagine him being in a position to overrule her, so I’m afraid that if Carisi became the ADA then Benson would just tell him what to do and he would follow her orders the way he does now. It would give St Olivia even more power, and that would send the show further down the drain. Not to mention it would leave SVU with even fewer detectives and it would mean more Benson and Rollins.

The only thing that might be interesting if Carisi became ADA would be if he stood up to Benson and the 2 had a major argument with Carisi telling Benson “I don’t work for you anymore” but I don’t see the writers doing that if they make Carisi the ADA, he’ll just become the next Benson Bot as ADA, probably moreso than Barba or Stone became. Disgusting.

Honestly I’m expecting this season to be utter crap. I hope I’m wrong, I do, but I’m fully expecting season 21 to be god awful. Brace yourselves everyone, I think we’re in for a season of garbage.

    Rant complete.

    Haha...love your rants. 😁

i think i read in an article that there were going to be 3 major changes affecting the squad revealed in the season premiere.  I think 1 of them is going to be that Carisi is the new ADA.   I haven’t seen any pictures with Carisi in the detective mode; I just saw 1 of him in what looks like a courtroom with Rollins.  That would explain the being between a rock and a hard place; Benson is going to demand (yes, demand) that he prosecute the mogul and he may not have enough evidence to do so.  I would LOVE to see him say to “Lieu” that she is no longer his boss.  I have a feeling that “Rollisi” is unfortunately going to be a thing; Leight loves personal drama and he planted that seed during his initial tenure. Maybe the 3rd thing is Fin will officially be a sergeant for SVU??

I also hope you are wrong about it being a horrible season.  From what I’ve read online, everyone (actors and the behind the scenes staff) seems to be excited about how this season is rolling so far.  I think we are going to see a lot of personal drama; we already know Noah is in 2 episodes so far and Rollins’ kids are in 1.  Leight can do a good job at writing stories with twists to them, so I hope we see that.  Leight and Mariska are very much intertwined, but I hope he has enough influence/stature to keep her at bay.

  17. Fellaway, count me in as someone else who would like to see some Carisi-based episodes.  And not episodes where he is doing something stupid like telling his niece to lie under oath or groveling after Rollins.  I would love to see episodes featuring carisi and Fin as the lead detectives from being first on the scene to interviewing the victim and witnesses then suspects to solving the case and finally testifying;  benson and Rollins would be in the background only.  It seems that recently they are there for the initial part of the investigation but then disappear as benson and Rollins take over from there.  I know it is all part of the female empowerment agenda that only they can expertly talk to victims and suspects and wrap the case up.  I do expect that we will continue to see carisi groveling after Rollins as Leight is known for liking personal drama and having Rollins sleep with her co-workers.

I also hope to see Raul back as Barba, but also hoping that Leight can clean up the mess that was Barba .  It is criminal what happened to that character.

Sounds like Noah is in episodes 3 & 4 with Rollins’ kids in episode 4 also as an extra “treat”.  Leight mentioned on twitter in response to a fan requesting an updated photo of Benson, Rollins and kids that it was coming in episode 4.  🙄

Eh, just have the show do a hasty rewrite (the show is already a mess) and have it come out Rollins' first kid is NOT Murphy's and just go from there and keep it to police work. Sorry to Amanda fans, but it would fit since she is already a complete mess.

I have said that for awhile!!  Rollins is known to not use birth control and likes the occasional one night stand.  Very easy to rewrite; he requested a paternity test before paying child support and it would explain why he hasn’t been seen in years.  Much prefer Murphy in the squad room than playing out Rollins baby daddy scenes.  Total waste of DL.

  19. I will never understand how she is still employed as a NYPD detective.  From the gambling issues to not following the rules to horrific treatment of certain types of victims, I am just baffled.  We all know how Benson feels about victims; I am surprised she didn’t transfer her out after Rollins threw money at the victim who was a prostitute.

Im worried that the other members of the Rollins family are going to show up again now that Leight is back.  And we never met the father; I hope I didn’t jinx us by throwing that out to the universe . I can’t handle all that drama again.  It’s going to be bad enough that Leight has already stated that Murphy will be back.  I still  think it was a huge mistake to make him the 1st baby daddy. What a waste of Donal Logue.

Sounds like the season opener will yet another “rich famous white guy accused of rape” storyline. They’ve done this same storyline over and over the last few years, it’s really tiresome, and more reason not to be hopeful for season 21.

I have no idea why Carisi hasn’t been in any pics so far, but it would be bad and ridiculous if Carisi became the ADA IMO.

I agree with you regarding Carisi becoming an ADA.  Leight was the show runner who introduced Carisi as a detective by day and going to law school at night.  Leight has also said in the past that he doesn’t like writing courtroom scenes. So, that is a bad combination . We need more Carisi, not less.

The season premier episode seems dull on paper, but I am optimistic that the writers are going to Have some novel ideas and add a few twists .  Everyone involved with SVU seems enthusiastic about Leight’s return.  We shall see.

  21. I was very disappointed not to see Peter Scanavino in any of the pictures except at  a cast read.  Wondering if Carisi may be shifting his focus to the “Law” side of things and that is why he is not w/the rest of the squad?? Maybe Leight is trying to surprise us with the news that Carisi is the new ADA.  I cannot handle ongoing misuse of Carisi.

Hope everyone is having a great summer so far 😁

  22.  Dttruman, I totally agree that they feel the need to continue to portray Benson as long-suffering & unable to find total happiness .  Just leads to more drama for her.

Xeliou66, I’m sure you know how much I hated that they had Murphy sleep with Rollins and  made Him the baby daddy too.  I liked what he brought to SVU; They won’t be able to bring him back in any substantial way b/c of that fact.  It will mostly revolve around Rollins and her oldest kid.  What a waste.

Wknt3, I love Donal Logue and also thought he was a breath of fresh air.  I hoped Gotham wasn’t picked up so that he could have stayed.  He was criminally underused on Gotham, but he shined in his scenes.

I am of the opinion that they want the men in her (possible romantic) life to give up or sacrifice everything  for her. The last three I can think of have done such that.  The two ADAs and the guy from Internal Affairs. He was putting in his retirement papers and he want her to go away with him, right?

I don’t remember Tucker asking her to quit; could be wrong though. I actually liked that pairing b/c  it was a mature relationship and they usually tied their scenes together with a storyline.  Not too much gratuitous stuff.

On another note, just read on Warren Leight’s twitter feed that he is bringing Declan Murphy back for a visit.  I’m guessing that means more Rollins personal drama 🤢
