The first show seemed so rushed and left so much out. I miss seeing a more drawn out discussion amongst the judges following the solos and kickline in deciding who should/should not make TC. I miss seeing the excitement when Kelli calls the numbers of those who have made it into training camp.

    Exactly! I agree

I was cringing when Daphne was performing. I have had some major damage to my knees (and most of my other parts, lol) through dance, cheerleading, and equestrian activities. Rest is an absolute must at times. I'm 58 and there are days when walking is so very painful or impossible. It is not worth it to try and push through with injuries like that!

I don't get why they had her perform if even the rookies just "made it" to training camp.  I'm pretty sure they had cassie only do part things, reduced duties and had a retired girl fill her spot due to her surgery.  Not certain why this is any different.

I was not a fan of the first episode. Biggest gripes:

I just think that I was confused not having semi finals and finals.  I was unclear that they were showing everyone going to training camp, so they had the "showcase" but everyone already made TCC.  I guess I would have done better if they spelled it out for me rather than show short snippets,  Were they ranked after showcase or did they just get judges remarks?  This would have been helpful to me.  She talked about Ava being in the bottom after the field kicks so I guess they were ranked there.  I've watched it twice and I still dont quite get when/how the process is working this year.

Don’t I remember KF saying one time on an episode a while back….about a veteran during auditions that she did not like them wearing costumes that were longer….. it seemed like their were quite a few in long flowing costumes in the judges showcase… I’m gonna have to look for it but I think I remember her saying that about a veteran during auditions several seasons ago.

I just think you need to be tall to pull off the longer costume well.  Some I did not think it served well, others it looked nice.  Kelly likes a long leg line... I forget her quote about American thighs.

Right! Wasn't Maddie a 5th year last season?

Long time I think almost 5 years...so okay move on.  I never got the Maddie love.  Nothing against, just never got it.  She seemed like a nice person.

  6. Being careful since this is spoiler thread because I like to be surprised... but I am SO excited I got a "sneak peek" segment show up on my DVR before the show tonight!  They mention Daphne's knee injury (hope its a tease not an issue) and Judy not being happy about the Kat brining back the cane. (My internal monologue is screaming Miss Kitty 'why do you have that prop?  What purpose? from an old tree scene) One dancer was really good but I thought she looked like she was cast for "Chicago"  From what I saw it should be a juicy season!!!!

Thank you both for clarifying that.  This was what I was talking about earlier.  She was offered a full scholarship in New York and was all ready to go, but Tina completely nixed because SHE didn't want Victoria to go (Tina probably wasn't allowed to come and stay with her).  However, it was couched as she didn't want her baby girl so far away or something like that.  The way it was phrased made it seem like Tina wanted Victoria to focus exclusively on things that would get her to the DCC and going to New York would not only get her away from her family, but could make her "lose focus" on her "dream" of becoming a DCC and "corrupt" her in her pursuits.

You can fault TK for a lot of things, but she is not the only mother who would not allow a 12 year old to live away from home.

Victoria’s immaturity caught up with her. In more ways than one. And she chose to step away versus address and apologize where needed.

Thank you for this post.... I thought I was the only one giving this whole thing the side eye!

Did we ever find out what happened with Jalyn? She was a favorite her first year but not so much anymore

Rumor was she tried to help VK during Training camp making suggestions (like all vets do) and VK complained to Kelli because she took it as negative criticism.  Kelli and Judy both then came down hard and said only they could make corrections of training camp candidates.  Then VK made show group as a rookie and Jaylyn did not make showgroup.  ALthough I am suprised Jaylyn has not retired Im glad because I still like her alot.

I am Team Madeline as well. I have always thought she was beautiful, her look gives me the vibes of the Abigail Klein times. Im here for it!

I just got the impression Kelli didn't like her.  Or even perhaps didn't like her mother.  I thought she was very mature and spoke very well and handled Kelli's combatant tactics quite well.  Kelli was singularly focused on taking VK in at the time at all costs and so she didn't have a chance.  If she worked on her power I think she would be a great addition to DCC.

  11. Recent photos of VK would determine if it was an overweight issue where she would not make Showgroup and is taking a pause to save face.  I guess I am the only one that thinks this is likely something self-serving.  If I am wrong, of course I hope things improve for her whatever the issue is.

Whattttttttttt? There’s no way I can’t believe it! I would think she would want to be a DCC for 5 years and become point eventually

Maybe Kelli pulled her aside and said there will be no favoritism.  HA... never!

Kristin is a wild card. I think she's retiring. She spoke out against DCC-MTT but has back peddled a lot and is consistently praising the show and the organization now. Am sure she's had conversations with TPTB. So she might decide for another year, unless she is moving with her boyfriend. Either way she needs to keep those DCC connections for her fitness business too.

I hope she does.  I have always found her to be boring and I imagine the rookies will try out again because of their abnormal performance year.  We need some drop outs to make room!

Just downloaded the PBS video app and watched the NFL cheerleaders documentary.  Wow

I watched it and thought it was good.  But I find a hard time explaining what I thought about it.  I think dancers should be paid better, so they can support themselves as a dancer, and just like my DH used to receive a monthly expense budget for "digital/technology expense" as a software consultant (it didn't really cover our expenses for internet, etc but defrayed costs) I think the ladies should receive a stipend for makeup, hair, nails  whatever is not covered by DCC but clearly expected. On the other hand if we are being totally honest their purpose is to entertain with their yes, dance, but also beauty and sex appeal. If we were truly concerned about their being taken "seriously" then we would not have them at all because at its core it is sexist. I think that is why the mavs got rid of their team because it is really difficult to ride that fence.  And sadly then we will talk about all the things we used to have that were sanitized because it is not PC or good for us, pro cheerleading will be one of them.

If Maddie tries out again, what year will she be? 6th? I 100% think she will be back and be back for a 7th year too ... I think she will try to keep up with Sydneys 7 years.

Im sorry, she never struck me as DCC look/type.  i will never get used to her as point... well 1/2 point.  i know she has her fans and is probably very sweet.

Does anyone know if the DCC receive an end-of-year/end-of-season evaluation from K&J ? That way they know where they stand in the team of 36, what to work on, if they should come back, good reviews from the fans or appearances, etc

But wait, then they can't change it and edit it to fit "the narrative" lol

For some reason my comment was deleted so I’ll post what I said assuming this was in response to me.

Yes, I meant on this board specifically. Your rundown of her achievements actually supports my comment. Despite alllll of that, she’s hardly ever mentioned with the more popular dcc.

One of my faves, but yes most ppl do not like her on this board.  It is what it is.  TPTB always appreciated her.

Hearing your ex has moved on, people react differently.  If Mandy is staying silent, she has taken the high road and good for her.  Mandy is a beautiful woman and I'm sure she will find someone.

When my longtime boyfriend of 5 years started seriously dating after our breakup I was completely shocked.  She was blonde, thin, creative.. very similar to me in many ways except I was more outgoing.  It startled me when I first met her because it never occurred to me he had a "type."

  19. I think Hannah on Instagram is her right but I wouldn’t go that way.  I have no idea, maybe dance industry doesn’t care but in corporate if you bad mouth your former company even if justified HR, management, others will know it can happen to them in future and it is viewed as unprofessional and a concern of judgement.  In the end, It doesn’t reflect well on the complainant.  I’m sorry for her and that she was cut makes me so sad for her.  But she needs to close this chapter and move on to better.

  20. IMO they added rachael to counter that Maddie has never been "eye candy", so third year or not....
