  1. Thinking about who retired after the 2015 locker room incident and season concluded?  I am so curious.  I wonder if the recent locker room allegation scandal would explain some retirements that year that I didn’t expect.  I think these were the retirees if my timeline assumptions are correct:  Sydney, Nicole, Katy, Emma, Jordan, Brittney, Veronica, three year vet Jennifer, three year vet Ashley, Abby, Samantha, two year vet Jessica, and Courtney.

Wonder if that means they are shopping around for a new home or contracts and new press media kits are not done yet.  Hope it’s the later,  because plenty of good shows have shopped around and died looking for new homes

Just got the news. :( This just showed up in my Twitter!  I am so sad because I thought it was the best show for CMT.  I wonder if the new production team just didn’t get it?  I’ve watched this with my girls since they were young.  It’s my guilty pleasure I look forward to every year.  I am very sad about it, but it could blow up huge if they pitch to Netflix IMO.  I hope they do

I LOVE that Madeline made the team, but looking for honest opinions here.

Had all circumstances been the same as in years past and Kelli didn't have 3 vets leave during TC which gave her breathing room to not have to make nearly the amount of cuts she usually does.......do you think Madeline would have made the team?

Like I said, I love Madeline, and she really danced better this year and kind of upped the beauty factor (of course she is a pretty girl) with more vibrant hair color and makeup that accentuated her attractiveness.  But what I still didn't see from her is the "it" factor...the spark and pop on the field.  By nature she appears to be very shy and quiet.  I think she finds it hard to project at 11 like a Gina or Lexie (I can say the same about Rachel, but oh well).  Ignoring any other rookie candidates, do you think she would have been selected under the scrutiny of say a 2012-2020 Kelli & Judy?

IMO Madeline had no hope of making the team when TK was trying out.  I felt Kelli eliminated perceived threats early and she did not want a prettier blonde legacy in the works.  Then VK got cut anyways.  Madeline is more lyrical and needs to continue to improve on punch but their are consistently couple of blenders every season that make the team that aren't legacy or as pretty.  I think Madeline S is at risk of being a 1 and done unless she continues to work on power and projection over the season.  But I am very happy for her, it seems like this really has been a dream for her!

  5. Okay, I have something that is bothering me to say.  Do you think Kelli did not like the fact that Melanie S mom has, like me, added lbs. since her DCC glamorous days and is just a regular looking mom now? (For clarity, I was not DCC, just thin and fabulous in my 20s!) Don't get me wrong, I love that they focused on the whole team and just a little on these 2 which I felt was right.... but it was nothing NEAR the coverage of VK and TK.  I could see Kelli being judgmental like that.... I mean the brand and all!

Ava ignored what she was told, and paid the price for it.    I think Kelli saying  'come back next year' was just for the show, and they'll never consider her as a risk of ignoring K & J's rules, and I think Ava should move on.   How clueless to keep ignoring the rules about social media, after being warned, and sitting there in Kelli's meeting looking surprised you are being let go.

Do we know what she did specifically?  Curious

YES. I feel like their are a few rookies at risk being cut as a vet next season if they don't show major improvement - it is pretty much guaranteed they will have very strong auditioners/TCCs. And I bet VK will be back.

    Groan.

It's pretty obvious that they will always be at least one "one year wonder" every year whether it is because of retirement or cuts, and if everyone decides to come back like in 2019 when all of the 2018 rookies decided to reaudition, K and J will make sure that there is at least one girl that gets cut. I am pretty sure that there is not one instance where all rookies becomes vets (I'll have to double check on that to confirm, but I am pretty sure it has never happened in the history of DCC)

Kelli has commented on this before and said it is hard to see girls go before they are ready to retire but it is part of their process to keep the team competitive and make room for the TCC.  I think this system works for them.

  9. I like how Miss Kitty, guest choreo,  and all the well wishers announced the team.  It seemed a distinct difference from one year when Miss Judy is yelling " XX is still making mistakes, xx dances clunky, so and so did this terrible thing.".. all while watching it on the Jumbotron and then they announced the team!  I loved that announcement!

  10. First time Ava seemed serious.  I think her lax attitude has been bothering Kelli this whole time.  I think if she had responded similarly last time instead of over confident her dancing made making the team a given, she perhaps would not be cut.  I'm not a fan, but she almost made me like her there. Too little to late.

Came across this which shows both Alora Rose and Jacie trying out for the Rockettes in 2017. Jacie said this was her third time auditioning which means she auditioned while she was still a DCC. So why is it OK for her but not for Alora Rose? Double standard? Or did Kelli just not hear about this one?

I think the timing of training camp and Rockette tryouts was different then. The DCC also did not have the weekly Christmas commitments they have now.  I also would be suprised to hear if Jacie would have mentioned it until she made it.

On that note though, I think sometimes they have office visits with TCC/DCC that are never aired. You are telling me they never once wanted to talk to Madeline or Amber this year? I have suspected this other seasons as well.

If you believe the chart that showed Madeline in a very safe position, then no I do not think they ever talked to her this season.  There are plenty of girls over the years who were thinking they are just fine and then cut the day before announcement, first time in office.  I think Jensen nicely addressed the check minus kicks, saying she will work on that and stretch more now that she is aware of what they want her to work on.  I was fine with them cutting anyone they named (they rattled off 5 names) except Madeline S. and now Jensen since she seems really dedicated to the team.

Do people think that Alora Rose would have tried out and if she didn’t make it she would go back to Dallas? I’m not sure how the timing would work with it.

The Rockettes are a much better dance job than the Cowboys Cheerleaders. So she made the right choice.

Yes, because if she wasn't trying to hedge her bets she would not have tried out for DCC this year if she was trying for Rockettes and definitely not coming back.  I would have played it the same way, but I would not have told a soul.  TPTB heard about the auditions somehow.

Lea was singled out by Travis Wall for her dancing. That shows her technique. She may not look like the Botox bleach purchased boobs Barbie Box cheerleader, but she’s grown on me. Cutting someone as good as her would be a mistake. I like her pop, her power and her different look.

I was hoping for more with her makeover, and they really did not do it.  Kaydianna and Kelee had successful transformations IMO.

I am still surprised they have not touched on any vets retiring at all yet. I am willing to be its to do with the fact that VK left and they don't want to touch on it because VK retired after the "deadline" for giving in the notice to retire?

They aren't touching VK exit at all.  Guess we are just not supposed to notice.  Amanda is off the board as well, no explanation.  Maybe Amanda had instagram influencer goals or something?

  16. This time they DID show the leader board where you could read the names.  I wish they would lose a vet so Lea could have a spot.  She is a solid and clean dancer.  I just think she needs to ramp up the DCC look (makeover) because she has a bit more plain natural look that they do not care for. In some ways she reminds me of Ann Luxe who was one of my favorites but criticized not for her dance but being quiet or some odd thing.   I also like that they show Ashlinn above several vets so she is "safe" to make the team!  I could not say about the TC that are above the line because there are some just not featured really to have an opinion.  I don't feel like I know anything about Presley, Jensen or Rebecca's dancing.

  17. I'd be annoyed that I had to dress, hair, makeup to show up at a mandatory to announce showgroup.  I think it's better at the end of practice.  The only good thing about this way, is if you were disappointed you would not have to stay long and be accused of being unprofessional if you are crying or not "into" practice.

The cut to Kristen as they said “and the last person on show group is…”. Idk why I laughed but she’s got to be thinking they treat her like a second-class citizen.
Also to see an incredible dancer like Lea not make show group or Ava getting bottom 5 from Melissa while Kat makes show group is a joke.

Did Kristen make showgroup?  I know she has a lot of fans, but I always found her to be a blender.  I felt like her signing was the asset she had that tipped the scales to make the team.

Melissa is really starting to bother me. She used to have this flirty young bubbly style in her commentary but it's just gotten a bit annoying. I'm over her exaggerated commentary and I didnt like when she said she was "mad saying Kelee's name." Like Kelee's not been working her tail off.

Melissa has never bothered me (I know unpopular opinion).  That said, qualifiers weaken the message.  Is she a judge or a girlfirend?  If she is a judge she should say, "Kelee did not execute xx, or continues to xx, or shows stength in xx area"  that's what a judge does.  otherwise she is just a talking head.

  20. Kitty Carter is back. :)  Where did the lady that used to do the media go?  I like the NFL rep they had step in... she was fun and set a positive spin on media game day questins.

Found it very interesting that Judy said no to Kat being on showgroup. Guess she got overridden. She is one who always says showgroup is for the most technical dancers - but I guess the group has evolved to be more just overall performance.

That ship sailed when VK made SG rookie year.
