  1. (((Petunia))) That made me smile. You are so sweet and lovely. I'm sorry about George. I'm really surprised you can't get through to your vet. Ours is pick up/drop off only buy 100% open. I know that you can use Neosporin, triple antibiotic ointment and hydrogen peroxide safely on dog wounds. Maybe that can ward off infection until you get him to your vet? Poor little pup! I'm sure he feels comforted around you.
  2. Channeling her inner Linda Perry... Was supposed to be leaving Iceland today and flying to Paris. I'm still fighting with the airlines to get our money back. Our flights home were on WestJet. The phone wait time was 6 hours. I figured it couldn't possibly be that long and waited an hour and a half and gave up. For now. I'm so pissed. I've also called American Express a few times. Every time they tell me our claim has been closed and have to reopen them, then they want me to rate their customer service. The people are perfectly nice but absolutely nothing is getting resolved, they are just pandering. I'm afraid it the airlines go out of business, we'll get nothing back. Þingvellir, 1999
  3. I cannot stand Kyle or Summer but I like Theo even less. After what he did, he had nerve to even show his face back at Jabot to pick up his things. He has always been and still is a slime ball- perfect for Summer to f around with and Kyle to womanize with. Lola made Kyle much more likable for me, but ultimately they are all garbage people. I'm glad we are getting vintage eps. I've only watched a couple so far. The next in queue is the Halloween party. Victor and Nikki's (first) wedding was about the time I started watching but I've forgotten so much. I liked the Brenda Epperson Ashley. Brad was a snack. Dru and Neil were a great couple. I even liked loony Phyllis back then, mostly because of her hatred of Christine. I have never been a fan Victoria or either actress. My boyfriend back in the day used to call Heather Tom pumpkin head. I completely forgot about Gina. She was such a pathetic character and I am never a fan of impromptu singing. Ahhhh, memories!
  4. I hope you are feeling better. I wanted to share a personal experience with you. A couple of weeks ago I woke up with a sore throat. I was terrified. I kept taking my temp and imaging I had other symptoms. I ended up talking to a friend's mom who is a nurse in OR. Without even telling her that I occasionally experience reflux, she said my sore throat was most likely from acid. I know that you are a nervous person like me so I thought it might be the culprit for you too. I felt so relieved and started drinking a half teaspoon of baking soda dissolved in a little water before bed and it definitely helps. Take care❤️
  5. His name is Thomas. He calls himself a unicorn because he was born, raised and still lives in the city. Say hi from his pals in Maui and grab a seat cos he's a talker but he's got great stories.
  6. Have you been to the one in San Fransisco? A friend of mine has worked there for decades. It would be fun to find a one-degree of separation here😊
  7. Fuuuuuck that! This is when you have a standard TMI answer that makes them embarrassed for asking. "The string broke on my tampon"; "explosive diarrhea"; "touched cloth"; "I'll never tell..." and wink; "I can't imagine that anything would be gained by clarifying the reason for you".
  8. I don't know if this will help you, but for me, if I have to watch or read the news, I do so in the mornings only. The bad news is usually diluted by bedtime and then I only watch my brain-douching shows at night; something light (Golden Girls!). I'm thankful for all of you. It makes me feel better to come here and understand that I am not alone in my anxiety. You are all so bright and funny, I feel a wash of relief after I catch up for the day. This gave me anxiety at the thought. I have a weird fear of being asphyxiated or having my throat cut- maybe I choked (or worse) in a former life. @boes I am beyond happy to hear about your friend! That news has made my morning.❤️ This beautiful creature -Orleander Hawk Moth- was on my bathroom window screen all day yesterday. Happy Caturday from Puka and Kemosabe!
  9. https://www.hawaiinewsnow.com/2020/04/13/online-petition-demands-resignations-maui-memorial-medical-center-covid-cluster-grows/ The biggest cluster of virus in Maui is now at the hospital. A friend, a nurse at Maui Memorial, said the equipment is being hoarded for a larger emergency. Don't get sick in Maui!
  10. Yeah, not gonna lie, very jelly.... Hoppy Easter preverts!
  11. I have heard the same. As well as trying to physically stretch your torso.
  12. @boes I'm truly sorry. What a helpless feeling. You are both in my thoughts and prayers💓 Yaaaay! @jewel21 I have fantasized about this....
  13. We have no Trader Joe's here and it's Hawaiian themed!🤷‍♀️ I miss it so much.
  14. @PatsyandEddie I'm very sorry for your loss. It's so awful that people have to grieve alone. Praise Jah! What a perfect find. Poor kids who lost their stash!😏 Maui, Hawaii since 2006. Originally from Boston. The virus isn't at full force yet and they are still letting people fly here which is infuriating. Most cases are on Oahu as it is a heavily populated county. Government is saying they are going to close all the beaches because of people just hanging out. I just don't fucking get it. We are so lucky to be able to go and exercise and a few idiots are going to ruin that for everyone. Other than that we can do essential shopping but it is slim pickings and will probably remain that way for quite some time. I haven't seen a roll of tp or cleaning stuff for weeks. I've been trying to get what I can on Amazon but they are running out too. I'm nervous about being able to survive here when all is said and done. We live from paycheck to paycheck as it is and I have no idea when or if my husband is going to be asked back to work. The hotel he works for is closed until at least May 1st. I make a pittance at a consignment store which is also closed. We're still having frustrating issues with the unemployment website so we have no idea how much we will actually be getting. I'm just praying it's enough for health insurance and rent. Other than that, groceries are going on our credit cards which we will worry about later. I'm finding myself compartmentalizing so I don't go completely insane. I'm thankful that so far my friends and family are okay. I do a lot of stress cooking and started making a virus song list on Spotify. I used to love making mixed tapes. Our hospital here is horrible. There a joke that's not very funny that says "they don't call it Maui Memorial for nothing". The estimate is that the virus will "peak" here in the next two weeks so I'm trying to refrain from even grocery shopping. My cats are stoked to have both of us around all day but.... I'm certain this is happening. That is such a great idea! What a lovely and positive way to document this horrible situation.
  15. That is such a great idea! @Joimiaroxeu I have to look up all your acronyms😆 I don't know if your DVR is the same as mine but under your recording options you have to select record all episodes, as opposed to new episodes, and you should get the vintage eps. Hope this helps.
  16. @SweePea59 That was so funny! Thank you.
  17. I have never been a fan of maraschino cherries or red roses but now I will have a Pavlovian vomit response when I see either.
  18. This song is on a playlist for my car and it came on yesterday on my way to Safeway. It's such a good anxiety song.
  19. FYI about the other the "getting to know you" forum-
  20. I went to Safeway today. I wore a cloth mask. The CDC has said to now. Wear a bandana (or a silk scarf!), and gloves if you've got them. Try to be cognizant of touching your face. I wore my glasses to be extra careful about rubbing my eyes. Bring some wipes and hand sanitizer- I keep a batch in my car. I took off my mask and gloves in the car and put on sanitizer. I wiped off my groceries and doorknob when I got home and washed my hands. I leave the bags on my lanai for a couple of days before reusing them. You can wash your mask with laundry. Soap kills the virus. That's uber cautions but I feel like I have to be because others are not. Also, it helps to be organized- get in and get out. You'll be okay, @Snaporaz❤️ (I hope this doesn't sound patronizing) https://tvline.com/2020/04/02/young-and-restless-victor-nikki-wedding-1984/ This is good news! I hope they continue when they run out of episodes.
  21. Yeah, no more than two people can swim, jog, surf, SUP, walk dogs; just no hanging out. And yes, I do realize how lucky that makes me. I can't wait until I am able read and watch the sunset at the beach again. It's such a blessing and it's free. But I get anxiety leaving the house. A second person has died here- 52yo, and the cases are growing exponentially. Of course we are a bit behind the mainland and there is no way our one shitty hospital could handle it if we became an "epicenter". The decent hospitals are on Oahu but there's no getting there now. Anyhow, I'm trying to not post scared or negative shit. Happy Birthday @SweePea59, @peacheslatour and @OhioSongbird!! Peaches, I hope you can eat your weight in cake and Ohio, I'm glad and relieved you are back. @jewel21 Good luck tomorrow!❤️
  22. Big virtual hugs to everyone. @Petunia13 you are so good. I wish that you would think about staying home. I worry about you. I understand the money thing. We just had an $1900 car repair bill. Our struts were gone. Right now I'm just thinking - "put it on my tab". We are financially fucked but so is (most) everyone else. I don't want you to get sick. My girlfriend asked me to go for a walk today. Her and her husband were both sick, probably with the virus, but never tested. They are better now, thank god, but she had such a hard time. She's super young but has asthma. I was so worried but all I could do was bring food and leave it at their door. I haven't wanted to leave the house and was particularly depressed today and she is so upbeat and sweet. We are not allowed to go to the beach unless it's for exercise or fishing. We walked from her house to the beach and this guy was just hanging out... It's like he knew we needed to see him. We went swimming and he was there the entire time. When we left I said "bye!" and he lifted his head and turned toward us. It was magical.
  23. For Jim Gaffigan fans, this is really funny: https://www.yahoo.com/news/jim-gaffigan-life-quarantine-sitcom-210414765.html I just finished "Self Made" as well. It was okay- a very watered down version of her life but I love Octavia Spencer and Blair Underwood is as foxy as ever. I started "Trapped" and thought, "wow this is moving along quickly", and realized I was watching season 2. It's very compelling. We'll probably start season 1 tonight. @boes and everyone, I totally understand and share your anxiety. I cooked some red curry lentils with sweet potatoes and spinach today. Cooking relaxes me but I'm nervous about my next trip to the grocery store. There are still some people who don't seem to comprehend what is going on. It's maddening. I'm extremely thankful to be able to come here and talk you all of you. Anyone hear from @OhioSongbird? @peacheslatour May I have a swig of wine?
