Dare I say/use the term “alternate facts” or more so “alternate perceptions “

first off - everything with Netflix is “massive” is it not? That’s why they are in debt and are cutting/canceling some shows they probably should have given some more time with

second - just because Netflix threw money at it doesn’t mean it will be “good” sex/life anyone?

third-technically the term is used as a noun for “disfavor” so I still by my words 😎

Well naturally it's on them to make popular and successful show again, but Netflix gave them a lot of money to do it.

Just like HBO gave a lot of money for this show but how popular it's going to be in the long run is on Condal.

don't know what all happened behind the scenes, but it was satisfying when they gave that big interview about doing GoT that was basically, "Yeah, we didn't know what we were doing but they gave us the job anyway, isn't that great?"

And they still made much better show than Condal 😅

But their statements are mostly taken out of context by people who have David Benioff Derangement Syndrome.

I remember hearing about the Netflix gig but I thought that got dropped just like the Star Wars gig? If that’s not being blacklisted what is 😆 plus isn’t Netflix dropping projects left and right due to budget/the fact they spend more than they bring in 🙄and they dropped the ball being A+ writers by season 7 😉became D+ by season finale.

    They are not blacklisted lol

They made the most popular show in history. They will never be blacklisted. They are doing massive show for Netflix called The Three Body Problem, which is currently in post production.

And they've had more other projects for Netflix like The Chair.

  3. Including prophecy in House of the Dragon was confirmed to be idea from showrunners Condal and Sapochnik. They talked about it in interviews. And they said the intention was to connect two shows. And obviously Including dagger that was used to kill the Night King is part of that.

It wasn't GRRM's idea to include that.

They also talked a lot how there are basically two canons and HOTD is (naturally) part of GOT television canon.

And I don't see how this prophecy contradicts anything that happened in the original show. Targaryen sitting on the Iron Throne was Viserys' interpretation of prophecy, not part of it.

And prophecies shouldn't be taken too literally. They never really happen exactly as they are told. The interesting aspect is what they do to characters and their interpretations of prophecies, whether it's from Viserys or Melisandre.

Except its literally not the author who did that last season its the showrunners. We dont know what the author is planning

    Neither does he obviously.

Showrunners of GoT had long meetings with GRRM where they've discussed the future of the story and that was confirmed by all sides including GRRM himself, who said just before S8 aired that the show's ending won't be that different from his and that it's based on his ideas from 20 years ago.

Only when the ending became controversial he tried to distance himself from it. Which is really shitty behavior on many levels, especially when you consider that he is not capable of finishing even penultimate book, let alone the whole thing.

So when the author himself says that nonsense that happened in season 8 was not his message, we should just tell him to stfu and stop lying cuz it was indeed his message since he has a producers credit, got it.

Yes. And we should show him his quotes from before S8 aired. And tell him to finish the story or shut up forever because no one cares about his fake promises anymore. And descriptions how amazing his ending will be.

I keep seeing people why the focus on the prophecy when we know it doesn’t mean anything

How it doesn't mean anything? It literally happened in the original show. Aegon united the realm to fight against the White Walkers.

  6. Larys as a character makes no sense to me. His relationship with his family wasn't development but there is nothing that suggested that he hated his father and brother. His whole plan was very stupid and he sent people with his own symbol to do it. I mean really?

And all of that to do what? He his nothing on Alicent. There is no reason for her to feel blackmailed by what he did.

You are assuming we know this story. I am coming into this cold other than GOT knowledge. All we know is what is on screen and it feels terribly rushed like the worst seasons of GOT when things just kept happening with no connective tissue.

Oh they ARE rushing and even more than GoT but the reason why they are rushing it is because they started too early

First 5 episodes wasted time. That could've been covered differently.

Are there still plans for HBO to continue on and do some Game of Thrones prequels?

Yes. House of the Dragon. Casting has begun and the show will air in April of 2022.

do blame D&D for misleading fans one major way. They didn't engage with the theme of destroying vs. building which may have provided some clarity on where Dany was going.

The main point D&D did in their execution, which really is a key trait of Game of Thrones, is make her downfall in some way shocking/surprising. It doesn't matter how much they supported it throughout the story, it is pretty certain that they actively wanted people to support Dany and then be shocked by her downfall. They wanted the audience in Tyrion and Jon's shoes.

So they never wanted it to be obvious. If they did it would completely undermine their main point - demonstrating the danger of populism and revolutionary rhetoric/power through making the audience make the same mistakes as the characters. It's an absolutely ballsy and groundbreaking move. That doesn't mean there can't be a discussion over whether it made sense at all - but it's a lot harder to ask. Nonetheless, if you do pick apart the story, look for the clues, there is an absolute enormity of evidence for Daenerys' fall- her messianic complex, her ego and entitlement, being reined in by her advisers constantly, her convenient and loosely defined morals, her emotional instability - that its hard to say it wasn't justified. D&D seem to rely on the length of GoT to achieve both providing enough clues and development for Daenerys' turn, while also covering up to ensure its surprise later down the road.

They wanted the audience in a position of accomplice of the biggest crime in the show. Miguel Sapochnik talked about this. As I said we can talk how well they did their job but comparing GoT to Breaking Bad and Walt's fall (as some people do)completely misses the point. I mean it would be easy to do that. Just have Daenerys burn Astapor, Yunkai and Volantis as she wanted at the end of S6 and everyone would see her for what she is.

I mean, yeah, but so? Her family only ruled in Westeros because they invaded and conquered the Seven Kingdoms 'with fire and blood'. Then they were rightfully overthrown and a new monarchy was established. Dany's family having once been Westerosi didn't give her a 'right' to invade, or even really a good, much less noble, reason to do so. She wasn't going home because she was raised elsewhere. She had no knowledge of, or attachment to, Westerosi culture or religions. Really, in the first few season she had no opinion of Westeros other than "it has a nice big iron chair I want to sit in". She was just a foreign invader, conquering a kingdom and slaughtering its people because she felt entitled to.

    I mostly agree with this.

Daenerys fed a slaver to her dragons because she was angry about Selmy. She had no idea whether he was involved with the harpy and by her own rules you were not supposed to execute slavers without a trial since she executed a former slave for that.

She burned MMD alive for what she did to Drogo and her unborn child. If anything upset Dany she killed people. She executed 163 random slavers for what they did to the children. One of them we know was even against it. She wanted to burn down the slaver cities when they invaded meereen. There were slaves and innocent people in those cities. Tyrion gave her a better option to get ships.

No she never snapped, she simply did what she always had done, kill people when she was upset.

  11. I doubt Winds of Winter will ever be released while George is alive. At most, we might get a posthumous release edited together from his drafts.

I genuinely don't think he has any idea how to get this story from the second act into the third and that's why he spent two books basically doing nothing to advance the story forward. He never set up the White Walkers properly for any morally ambiguous ending and with them looming, what he REALLY wants to write, a perpetual civil War in Westeros and a second Dance of the Dragons will never get off the ground, which is why the books have stalled at the exact spot where he can't avoid the next big advance.

  12. Wishful thinking. Joanna Robinson already confirmed this is fake and there is no way to change something like that in post production.

Also Dragon Demands is not really a stable guy. He is obsessed with David Benioff.

Fans are pissed because they believe, rightly in my opinion, that the quality of the show began to decline greatly once they no longer had the books to lean on for character development, dialogue, detailed plot points, etc.,

And? Quality of the books began to decline greatly after ASOS. That happens in a lot of shows and books and movies. This doesn't mean D&D wanted that.

  14. And if turning good books into the biggest show in the world is something any idiot can do, I can't wait to see The Witcher, Wheel of Time, His Dark Materials and LOTR become smashing success.
