While they seem lovely as people, I don’t understand why people like mom/son and even the twins go on the Race to begin with.

I understand the reason they apply: delusions of grandeur. What I don't understand is why casting thinks the viewers have any interest in seeing them.

I do viewer reviews for CBS and CW, and I try to tell them repeatedly to pay more attention to who they chose as contestants. I don't seem to be getting anywhere.

Delusions of grandeur is a little harsh.  I think a lot of folks who apply are just fans who want to participate in a season.  They want to interact with Phil and get  to travel around the world doing Amazing Race stuff for free -- and get some money for it (not necessarily winning it).

I think each season there are always some slots reserved for "super fans".  It keeps the fan base active with the hope of being a participant.  This season there does seem to be more of these teams.   Of course when asked, the racers will always say "I want to win" even though they aren't a competitive team.

I vote that Navarro was alive and living off the grid at the end.

I'm leaning toward Navarro is alive.  Navarro's house was basically empty when Danvers went there.   It makes more sense that she pack up possessions and left  in her car than if she committed suicide.

  3. This is how I interpret Danver's known hook-ups

    1.  Jake (deceased).  Step daughter Leah's father.  Son Holden (deceased) father.

    2.  Ted Connelly, Police Chief.  Danver's boss

    3.  Geography Teacher.  Name?

    4.  Kate McKittrick's (ice rink lady) ex-husband.  I thought Connelly was the ex-husband but I seem to recall a mention that the ex was a mine executive.

My current thoughts are that Jake was the drunk driver and the cause of Holden's death.  Also, Danver replaced the elder Prior as head of the Ennis police force.

Just to clarify: Was it Clark in the research facility who was standing, apparently having a seizure, then said, "She's back"?

He says "She's awake".  I only point this out because multiple people say this and it may be an underlying plot point.

Wait was the corpse of Clark among the frozen bodies but now he’s gone?  They only counted 9 feet, 5 heads at the popsicle site but there were 8 scientists.  So maybe they expected all the bodies would be there when it thawed?

Or they learned that he had the spiral tattoo on his chest from the cleaning women because he went around Tsalal naked sometimes?

But the guy with the spiral on his forehead didn’t have the tattoo when seen alive by the cleaning women?

I missed why they focused on Clark’s credit card records.  Also Clark was regularly sneaking away to be with Annie in that love shack trailer?

Of the eight men at Tsalal, six froze to death, one survived (Lund), and Clark is missing and presumed alive.  They originally thought Clark was a victim and would be among the frozen bodies.

I think they focused on Clark because he had a connection with Annie.  There was a picture of him wearing Annie's parka.

It was the Supply Guy who saw the spiral tattoo on Clark.

    My question:

Was that Annie's body in the trailer?

Hated the scene and had to turn away from the wolf-eviscerating.  It was alive.  Horrible.

I liked it.  Although someone mentioned that poor wolf was still alive, as it was gutted? 😩

I didn't think it was really alive. I thought it was another supernatural thing.

    From a Google search:

Why do animals still move after they're dead?

The movements occur because the muscles and nerves go through a short phase of hyperexcitability as they are progressively deprived of oxygen and die

On the other hand, I thought the actress playing the student Stanley had sex with was very good and entertaining. I wouldn't mind seeing the character again, though I doubt that will happen.

    ...

I had to google to see who played Hunter's wife. Melanie Mayron. I don't remember her from the earlier eps. (I realize she played the wife's twin sister.)

With this show, I have a feeling that Avis' new side story will be her mentoring the female student for a few episodes.

It was good to see Melanie Mayron do double duty as an actor and director.

Unsure of Corey's relationship status but I hope he took a minute to get his dance instructor's contact info. There was some definite attraction there on both sides. I loved how she walked them out :)

That is the first time I can recall an instructor joined with the reading of the clue away from the main area.  Has that happened before?  Perhaps Corey wanted his dad to meet Anna Mai (the instructor) for non-race reasons?

I'm used to prop food looking plasticky. Like the displays they'll put in front of restaurants so you can see what the dishes look like. But there was something that looked like it had ladyfingers and one fell over when John was holding the plate and he had to put it back which makes me think it was real food. Whether it was real or not, I don't think they ate it for food safety. But I hope if it was real, the rest of the stuff on the table didn't go to waste.

Though now I'm thinking about how chaotic it could have been if multiple teams had picked this task instead of recycling.

I'm open to the possibility that the desserts were real.    There weren't enough teams choosing this task to make a definitive determination, unless G&J talk about it on their YT recap.

There are various levels of quality to fake food.  In Japan, there is an art form called Sampuru (https://www.today.com/food/trends/sampuru-japanese-art-fake-food-rcna26990).

As for the Ladyfinger dessert, it is possible that the prop consisted of individual parts where the lady fingers were lightly glued onto the center portion.

Also, random but was the food real for the Serve task? Or was it prop food?

I wondered that too. There was an awful lot of it, and it would have been sitting out for a long time. I'm not sure I would have eaten any of it.

I was wondering if the diners ate any of the food. Because it was three courses, so if the racers had to wait for the diners to finish each course before they could serve the next one, a team could be slowed down if they had some particularly polite diners.

It looked like all the dishes were props.  The brothers had sometimes stacked the dishes for the first two where the sauces would be messed due to the touching of the bottom of the plate.  When John placed the plate on the table, the sauces were undisturbed.

I don't think any of the diners ate the food because it didn't look like the utensils were moved between dishes.

I thought when they were on the bridge AL said that she could see Ashlie and Todd, so it sounded close.  For all the "come on dad", it got them into the final 4.  I don't think they would be there if AL wasn't pushing Steve so much.

i suspect that the finish wasn't all that close.  The groups ahead would have still been on the mat if it was.  Also, usually the camera man would have shown them on the bridge if they were there.  I think Anna Leigh only said that as part of her cajoling her father to move faster.

When Irene said Cheese's relatives were there, I was wondering who that was and why he was avoiding them. I'm not usually looking for suspense, but I love how this show can have low key suspense like that and make me care about it. You don't need adrenaline to have suspense!

The way I interpreted that was she considered close friends as relatives.  The next scene with Bear, Elora Danan and Willie Jack at the front door confirmed it for me.  Much like Big, Bucky and Brownie are considered Uncles even though they are not related.

It's literally in the show.  They show Daisy and Billy up on a bluff arguing, with Daisy throwing her arms wide.  Camila takes the picture.  And then again, later, Billy is going through the well-known photographer's photos, and bitching about how none of them are right.  That's when Camila gives him the picture, showing she "saw" them, in both senses of the word.  And that's the album cover.  They used her picture because she got the shot.

Well it shows how much I was paying attention to the album cover.  My interest in the storyline diminished as the season when on.

That publisher must be the worst run business in the industry.  Giving in to all those demands to a band that burned them on the last tour seemed too unrealistic to me.

She took the cover photo for Aurora.

I don't know how you concluded that Camila shot the album cover.  I don't remember at any point in the series that the show gave Camila any credit for the album cover.  It was established that the publishers hired a well known and well-regarded (even noted by Camila) photographer to do the album photo shoot.  Why would they use Camila's random photos for the album cover and waste all that money for the photo shoot?

  15. I  agree with all that has been said here.   I hated Billy and Daisy ending.  I never saw the end of HIMYM -- if that is how it ended I okay with not seeing it.   Did Billy actually shave his beard when he went to visit Daisy?  Was that some subconscious way to recapture the moment he had with Daisy?

Of the band members, Warren was the most grounded person.  He recognized how special the tour was in his musical career and embrace the time.  I don't blame Eddie for quitting the band.  He was tired of Billy and his narcissism.  He wanted to be his own person regardless of his talent level.

I haven't read the book.  I was fine with the lightning in a bottle plot frame but it has been done before (i.e. The Commitments).  I'm curious if the band implosion occurred after a 2nd album would have been a more interesting story.

Camille, how do you stand Billy?

I don’t know why Camilla wants Billy either except a combination of holdover from a teenage love, codependence being his stable point in the world that helps him hold it together and now being married to a successful rockstar. Camilla has her own under-explored talents. Why for example didn’t she do the shoot for the album cover? She’s had some other successes. Why didn’t they keep it in the family for Camilla?

I think Camilla suffers from the sunken cost fallacy.  She has  invested so much into her relationship with Billy that she can't just give up on him for the sake of their daughter.  It also appeared that she came from a traditional family upbringing where divorce is probably frowned upon.

At that point in time, Camilla photography is more like a hobby than a profession.  She doesn't have the reputation to merit the responsibility of an album photo shoot.   The band doesn't have enough clout with the publisher to request Camille be in charge of the photo shoot.  How they manage to get two buses for the tour seems like pure fiction to me.

I did notice that in an earlier "present time" interview, she was referred to as "Camilla Alvarez" instead of "Camilla Dunne".  Is Alvarez her maiden name?  Did she not change her name to Dunne or does that mean she later divorced Billy?

The problem with fishing is that unless the lake was stocked with giant marlin, or some such, it would take a huge amount of normal sized fish to feed a group that size. And fishing in such cold weather isn’t easy. Hunting provides better buck for the bang. (Sorry)

Admittedly, I'm not familiar with living in snow filled winters or by a lake.  But, wouldn't a body of water that size be attractive to various types of animals?  Does no one in the cult know about traps?  It seems like the group was heavily dependent on hunting and scavenging.
