Hey look GA and BC in action!

Yes the pose is cheesy AF, but she looks good. I dont know how to word it without sounding creepy, but she looks physically capable, like she has a strong body, my only negative is those heels, she would still look stereotypical 'sexy hot badass' (to please those who only care about if she looks hot and carries the right name), if her boots were flat or even combat style.

SARA anchors the Legends, you sexist asshat.

ETA: the blogger not @tv echo.

I think stuff like this stings sometimes more, because it just unthinking, casual sexism. It wasnt that nasty, reddit stuff that is just out right misogyny, its just that he genuinely didnt even see or count Sara, because she doesnt have a dick. Its just so ingrained in some people (and society) that it is just how people act naturally.

My real question is if kids these days do originally believe in myths,  does the belief stop sooner what with smart phones and internet everywhere?

My daughter only just got a phone, for her 11th birthday, and has a lot of supervision using the internet. But she got in an argument at school a couple years ago, when she still believed, with a girl that was from a religion that didnt celebrate Christmas, the girl told her whole year that it was all fake and that their parents were liars going to hell. I had already told my daughter that magic was specific to the family that celebrated, so she just thought the girl didnt realise that her family had some sort of magical covenant that was different from ours- hers didnt include Santa while ours did.

My mother kept my brother's and mine in separate envelopes in her jewelry drawer for probably 30 plus years (next to the baggies of hair from first haircuts) and then one day discovered they had fallen out and were scattered among her earrings and rings and necklaces and realized they were gross and nobody wanted them and threw them out.  :D

    @MaisyDaisy HI!!!!!!

You're back for the new season!!!!

I'm going to ask my kidlet if he wants to keep them in his draw or if he doesn't want them I'll chuck them! That said I'm not particularly sentimental about these things so I might be a bad example!

People keep them at my mothers group! One lady buried them in her yard.

We just had the Santa/easter bunny/tooth fairy talk last year, she flat out asked me, and I was super nervous because I had done things like have the tooth fairy leave her a charm bracelet and a 'wish' that was a charm to add each tooth, and she argued with other children that she knew Santa was real because her Mum couldnt buy two sets of presents (santa would fill a stocking, Mum put hers under the tree) I was worried that she would think I had been lying to her, and be upset, but she was really gratefull for everything I had done. She laughed about me chewing on the end of carrots to look like they had been nibbled bu reindeer. But when she asked what I had done with her teeth and I answered that I had kept them all in a little box in my bedroom, she looked at me like pure "WTF", and repeated it slowly; "You.............kept....my.....teeth...........and you have them in a box in your room?" and I realised that it was a bit odd, because what on earth would I ever do with them? But now I have a whole heap in a box, and it feels weird to keep them, but also weird to but them in the bin. Maybe I will go up to the headland and throw them off the cliff into the ocean.

  6. I have an odd question. What did/are people doing with baby teeth? I have collected my daughters, because I couldnt just throw them out, but it feels odd. I keep them in a lovely little box up on a shelf in my bedroom, but it feels off opening it up to see a bunch of teeth. What does every one else, or their parents do?

Don't you think the Flash backpack is a little young for a 6th grader?

My daughter is in 6th grade, and yes, there are no super hero backpacks at her school, but we do live in a coastal beach town, so the kids are all into 'cool' surfy stuff. I guess if you lived in a town that had masked heros, that might be cool?

But the whole 'bad man' scene, that does not remotely seem age appropriate, pretty cringey.

I kinda felt that Samantha went out the same way she came in. I have never been able to see her as a charcacter, she was a walking plot prompt, her actions as a single mother made no sense to me (as an actual single mother). I always felt like she was written from the view point of how a older white male would see a single mother, like they didnt even try to consider how someone in her position might think.

  8. They might not admit it, but I think the crux of some peoples position is that they have never really wanted a Green Arrow/Arrow show, they either wanted a BC centric show or a joint lead GA/BC, and thats purely 'because comics'. The problem is they miscast the BC role from day one, and were stuck with a character that just didnt fit with the rest of the cast/characters, oh and you know- the show was focused on Oliver anyway and was never going to be the BC centric show they even wanted.

But they do have a point, they should have either left Laurel in the background, or not replaced/pushed her character or replacement, because the role of BC in Arrow is like a sore that has been picked at, its a nasty mess.

  9. That sneak peak really is at another level isn’t it? She has such issues with the physical movements, she moves her head and body like she has a neck or back injury, she is so very stiff. First we had that awkward drunken saunter, now this quasi menacing stiffness, both she doesn’t manage to pull off and just look odd. What went wrong? She wasn’t a stand out as Ruby, but she was ten time better than anything I have seen from her on Arrow.

Destiel shippers or the fandom in general?

Destiel, its pretty huge right? They have a ton of fanfiction, and I have noticed a lot of my mutuals will post stuff from time to time.

  11. From what I can see that ‘other’ group of fans (well the bad apples anyway) the reaction to marriage spoilers is just more, “blah blah blah, Felicity is abusive”  “Blah blah blah, Olicity is the most toxic, abusive relationship in the whole flarrowverse”, with a fair bit of, “ha ha ha, sucked in olishitty it’s a crap wedding are you triggered”.

Sigh, so pretty much a little bit more active, but business as usual. I find it funny sometimes how fans like that totally miss the irony of themselves.

Do kinda wish it wasn’t a double wedding, I didn’t even like that in Pride and Prejudice, but I am so eager to get to all that married goodness, that I can’t bring myself to be overly bothered.

I am on season 5 of Supernatural and I can see where they got their reputation for gay bait, as Destiel is something they obviously play up. Isnt it a huge fandom anyway?

  12. We still get the Coles specials @Mellowyellow, but everything else is slightly more expensive than other places, and things get more expensive Fri, Sat, Sun. Like butternut pumpkin will be 99c per kilo on Thursday, but the exact same pile of them will be $4 per kilo on Friday and the weekend. Happens during school holidays too.

I haven't been to an Aldi's in years, but I notice in junk mail that stuff like their English spinach and butter/cheese etc are quite a bit cheaper than what I pay. We don't eat much packaged stuff so I would like to just buy the staples there if it wasn't a busy 30 min drive away.

I LOVE lavender flavored things. I once worked at a 'fashion cafe' and the designer was releasing a perfume, and to celebrate we all got bottles and a box of chocolates that were flavored with traditional scents- like lavender, rose, Sandalwood (which was yuk). The Rose and lavender were really nice, and I have loved both ever since. I mean Rose flavored Turkish delight is the best thing ever.

  13. I am so jealous, we don't have costco here on the Sunny Coast, I don't even have an Aldi close, just a small Coles with beachside prices and a larger (but still smaller than average) Woolies.

We have lizards in the house. No pantry moths, but I do keep everything sealed in containers or snap lock bags, and lots of stuff gets kept in the fridge because here in the tropics stuff like bread can get mouldy overnight the first day you bring it home.

i have heard the best way to get rid of a pantry moth investation is to put one drop of pennyroyal essential oil in a bucket of water and wipe down all surfaces. But it's not recommended for pregnant woman. Apparently cardboard is something that can attract/keep them around. They also don't like strong peppermint smells, so making a super strong peppermint tea and wiping the shelves down can help get rid of them.

Something in another thread made me go look up LL tagged fics vs FS tagged fics. 3,000 vs 10,000 roughly.

We have such an enthusiastic Fandom!

It's even worse when you look at the Laurel Lance/Oliver Queen tag, then scroll through and discount the ones that end Olicity. There is maybe 100 legit decent Lauriver fics. Maybe it's different on FF.net?

This is where I feel sorry for her nice fans, the ones that stay in their lane, and just like the character and the pairing. Because there isn't a decent pool of fics and the tumblr tag for her is  a mess. I guess they just have to find like minded people and form a group away from the main tags?

  15. It's cringe worthy that he will like tweets and answer asks that are outright mysoginistic, that are straight up hate, thanking the person sending it to him, and ignore the hate thats being directed towards woman- he posts something that has sexist hate in it, and just ignores the hate to address the compliment, indicates a tacit agreement to the content he has allowed on his social media.

He straight up enables hate towards female fans on his personal social media, but turns around to become a social media warrior when he misconstrues the meaning of a tweet from a female producer, one that he wasn't even tagged in. Because men are not to be questioned.

The more I see, the more I believe those rumors about Arrow being a sausage fest boys club BTS.

Marc had a very embarrassing (for him) back-and-forth with one-time Arrow director Lexi Alexander on Twitter today (among others in her mentions). He is one of those guys who thinks men can be victims of sexism, which I think I knew based on other things he's said, but really didn't expect him to lay out so clearly. Especially when it's on a subject on which he should be a little embarrassed to speak, as someone whose set is allegedly not friendly to women directors, or at least did a piss-poor job of hiring them until GB made a stronger commitment to diversity before this last season. Anyway, he goes into more detail about what feminism and sexism really mean, if you follow the link. There's a screenshot of a dictionary definition and everything!

JFC, this is embarrassing. He is full on mansplaning feminism to woman. How humiliating he is. The replies are gold.

How funny that a couple dude bros turn up to defend him and start throwing around more sexist crap dismissing female opinions by 'just give them more Felicity and that will shut them up' and calling people 'Olicitards' (look MG the fans that identify with you can multitask to be offensive to both woman and the disabled).

Someone needs to send MG a #not all men, T-shirt.

  17. Has anyone been reading the Felicitas series by Jess_S on AO3?

They are a Arrow/Highlander crossover, where Felicity is immortal (the full cut off your head with a sword 'there can only be one' ancient immortal) and keeps it a secret. The whole series sounds out there, but is soooooo well written. Really wordy, but never feels like it, because it's just so well written.

It's a series that's a rewrite of season one, but with things shifted because of Felicity's secret immortality, and it's Olicity.

  18. Did anyone see this article from Harry Styles (that guy from one direction), here is what he said about young female fans;

“Who's to say that young girls who like pop music -- short for popular, right? -- have worse musical taste than a 30-year-old hipster guy,” Styles questioned. “That's not up to you to say. Music is something that's always changing. There's no goal posts. Young girls like the Beatles. You gonna tell me they're not serious?”
“How can you say young girls don't get it?” Styles pointed out. “They're our future. Our future doctors, lawyers, mothers, presidents, they kind of keep the world going.”
“Teenage-girl fans -- they don't lie. If they like you, they're there. They don't act 'too cool.' They like you, and they tell you. Which is sick."

I compare this to Bam placating people that tweeted hate about 'Felishitty', about the plethora of tweets from showrunners and writers that went out of their way to be dismissive towards female fans, to SA and his blind eye when it comes to some pretty disturbing behaviour towards female fans on his social media page.

Its not just that they feed the stereotype that certain fans have more worth, it's that they take the time to answer and show respect to people who are pretty much just posting hate towards other fans.

Was there an agenda behind MG answering posts that were super mysoginistic and patronizing to female fans? And another that tried to erase a female centric fandom by declaring them to be bots? He gets hundreds of asks, why post ones that hate on other fans and fail to address that? Because he just validates those opinions.

  19. I sometimes feel a bit petty for it, but does anyone else feel a bit of nasty glee when you see one of those anti-Olicity/Felicity fics in the Olicity AO3 tags, (there are about 3 writers that always tag their, pro Laurel/Sara anti/OOC Felicity fics, Olicity.) and you see that there is 7 chapters, and like 6 kudos.

I noticed quite a few Oliver/Felicity/Mick fics from the same author. Not my cup of tea and ship whatever you want but I do wonder how that came into existence. I mean, I understand Oliver/Felicity/Sara fics and even Oliver/Tommy/Felicity on some level even if I don't like them but Olicity and Mick?? I wasn't aware they'd even shared a scene. LOL.

I liked the epilogue. It was sweet. But I have to admit the last couple of chapters felt like they wrapped up too soon. IDK. I love her writing though so it's nbd. I hope she continues writing for the ship!

In other pointless news, I just started reading a fic on AO3 where Felicity is the Arrow and it's tagged as Olicity and Tommy/Laurel but so far it's just Lauriver. Like, please tag your work correctly. I don't want to read that. Grrrr. Pet peeve!

I saw that one and was going to check it out when it had a few more chapters up, but I might pass as I hate Lauriver, and also Laurel/Tommy since that retcon.

  21. Yeah I agree Amy and Tyson do go too out there. Amy is a quiet beauty isn't she. At first glance she just looks pretty, but the longer you look you realise that she is not pretty but actually beautiful.

That whole 'flirtation' that was going on in the beginning between that big guy and that chick who said she went on the show to find a husband was pretty cringe worthy.

If I had to eat anyone's food I think I would pick Betty and David's (is that his name?).

How funny was it that Josh was the self dubbed 'seafood king' and was more miss than hit when cooking it.

i love seafood, I have to admit that I quite like it raw too, so no blood sausage on my scallops, they are such a delicate taste, I hate it when people overpower seafood.

The most 'out there' I have gone is raw Kinna (sea urchin) or chicken feet.

@MaisyDaisy are you watching MKR this year?????

    With Josh the Jerk?

Yes, I have missed a few here and there, but watched most.

Josh is such a jerk, I kinda feel sorry for his wife, but she could be pretty nasty and smug herself.

That hipster couple were also horrible when they were at the bottom of the leader board, talking about leaving, and being super rude, and as soon as they were safe, their attitude changed. Such bad sports!

There has been some amazing food so far though, especially the Indian and South East Asian food. But I am not a fan of offal, and crumbed lambs brains will never be something I eat.

  23. 14 hours ago, Mellowyellow said:

I love cooking shows and everyone has a foodie dream  these days so maybe it'll be more cooking shows!!!!

I like MKR, and the home Reno competition ones, but all those marriage ones are just horrible.

If it creates a longer hiatus between Arrow seasons, and their PR game is as weak as last seasons break, this could have a negative effect for Arrow retaining the viewers it still has into the next season.

i guess it's more important than ever that they get the 'hook' for the audience to return right this time.
