Abigail Breslin is so horribly, terribly wrong for this. Really? Someone greenlit this casting choice?

I was just going to say the same thing. I didn't realize what a terrible actress she is or is it just this project? She and "Johnny" have no chemistry at all.. Hate the ending. I fast forwarded a lot. Dancing was great though. Except for Abigail, but she isn't a dancer.

They realized they had nothing in common, broke up but stayed friends, because "we'll always have the Poconos."

I think remakes tend to dismiss the charisma of the original cast. Can anyone have Patrick Swayze's sex appeal? Probably not.

    Catskills.

I agree, remakes usually fall flat. Like this. Nice bod though.

  2. Ok, I see why no one posts here anymore. This show is crap! How is it still on?!

I watched just now to see what they had to say about "loneliness". About 3 minutes and the moron expert in the audience's solution was to talk for 5 minutes to an elderly person out in public, call you parents and ask if they lonely (nothing about what to do if they say "yes") get a pet. As if only old people are lonely btw. This show sucks. What a bunch of hacks.

Right, I would too.  But then internet trolls would scream 'Why haven't they done any work'.  These poor women (never the men) can't win for losing.

I know. There is no respect for aging. No respect for elders in this country. I am in the middle and I see it very clearly already. It's all very sad. Youth is fleeting. There are so many more important aspects to a life. Will we ever learn?

  4. Raquel: isn't she like 80?  This extreme plastic surgery for elderly actresses ( in quotes in her case) has got to stop. And  where did she get that wig? I would so much rather see natural or  at leas more natural looking actresses.

Agree!  I'm sick of people saying how great all these old crocks look when they can barely move their faces and they won't admit to having had work (although I think Cher admits it).

I must have turned this off too soon. I do not know why everyone bows down to Cher.  Just recently, they kissed her ass on the Talk, they kissed her ass on Fashion Police. She must be totally plastic (did they show the totally inappropriate outfit she was wearing on stage? It was frightening )  that has big time issues with aging.

  6. Seriously , no one gave Cher a thumbs down?  Is this like Oprah or Barbara Walters, no one can say a negative about them? Yes, she has been around a long time and her body is unbelievable for an elderly woman, plastic surgery or no. She could look beautiful in clothing, why go out there half naked in very unflattering costumes? No matter how much you try or do, 70 does not equal 30.

  7. Really enjoying Kate and Andre. I love the new and improved Andre. Could it be Tony? You never can tell what the writers are up to.

We need more of this. I recall years ago there were more humorous relationships on the show. Eugene and Calliope , Eugene and Marlena, off the top of my head. It blended nicely with the dramatic stuff.

Tampa episode: I can't believe they passed on the gorgeous updated craftsman. It was $100k under budget (and $105k under what they ended up spending), so they could have hired contractors to build a garage and they'd still have been under budget). They claimed the new build they ended up getting was craftsman "style", but it was nowhere close.

The wife annoyed me with her insistence on carpet in the bedrooms - a large area rug accomplishes the same thing and is easier to clean. And then, in a five-bedroom, 3300-sf house, she complained about the lack of dedicated office space. There are four guest bedrooms - pick any one of them as your office.

thank god. she wanted to rip out the original vintage bath. i could see changing the shower area as that was already redone. but if  you are lucky enough to have original nice looking working features in your 1930's home, please don't destroy it.

  9. just my opinion but i used to love this show. way back. i just can not get interested in the characters anymore. it is boring and just a shell of what is was. i think i'm done. that couple at the inn was a waste of time. where do they find all the second rate actors. just ugh.

and yet they cancelled the real o'neals which although a completely different kind of program had good acting and was very watchable.

  10. i also just watched for leah. i love her but i agree about the make-up and botox. she would look beautiful without the overkill. loved her scientology series..  this show is horrible and it has been renewed. meanwhile one of my favorites, the real o'neals was cancelled. i don't understand how all this crap stays on tv.

Odd little observation, but I find it hard to believe that Joan would have had gingivitis (the bleeding gums when she brushed her teeth.) She seemed too type A to not be a compulsive flosser.

NM, posted that as I started watching the episode. I see they explained that she had previous extractions that became infected.

they (the dentist) did imply that, but how do extractions get infected 40 or more years later?  after the tooth is pulled it heals up, if something were to occur, wouldn't it have been around the time they were worked on? dental-phobe here and someone who has, like most of us, had all 4 wisdom teeth pulled. she most likely had some sort gum disease, receding gums, which is common after a certain age.

  13. Her hair is all I can focus on when she is in a scene. If she does not want it to look better, they should give her a wig to wear. It makes her look old and dowdy or maybe someone thinks it makes her look young?  She has a nice face and is petite, maybe try a pixie cut? Something. That being said, looking at you too Hope.

  14. After all this time I have to believe that Melissa R. wants her hair to look the way it does. "Why" is the question...it is plastered to her head and it is going grayer by the day. Can't understand why she would not take advantage of the (free) hair stylists on the show. It is distracting to me. It is not a good look for a woman her age. I keep thinking a much shorter, layered , swingy cut and COLOR would bring out her prettiness.

  15. How can they restore, renovate that amount of projects with all those contractors (electricians, plumbers) custom cabinets, gorgeous kitchens!! interior decorators, outdoor landscaping, all the demolition, supplies, etc etc etc for $50,000 or even $90,000 depending? I am in the process of renovating 2 bathrooms and a bunch of other projects on this ol shack of mine, a 170 year old house whose previous owners have not been kind to. And if I could get his crew over here and do ALL they work they do for that amount of money I would be ecstatic! I was given an estimate of $12,000 for replacing walls, ceilings, floor in one 12X8 bathroom. That is without the price of the fixtures, finishes, tiles and plumbing! So how do they do it?

Wish they would tell us the price of the house, what the owners do for a living and break down the cost of each project done.
