If you're someone that worries that much about what other people think, why go on a show that parades your love life around for everyone to see and have an opinion about 24/7?  That just makes no sense to me.  She should have known better.

Oh, definitely. The only explanation is that people do strange things. Honestly, I think part of it is that people don't understand just how much their privacy is going to be compromised - even if they've watched this show from the beginning. I'm a very private person, but with the right assurances I know I could be coaxed to sign onto a show like this.

  2. My take on Molly is just that she's borrowing (way too much) trouble by worrying about meeting everyone else's "expectations". She needs to be told to relax with that and she needs to realize that the expectations she thinks everyone else has are almost certainly pure fantasy on her part. I mean, certainly their parents will hope they stay married, but that would be true if she'd married someone she'd been dating for three years (or however long). The experts hope they stay married because the experts have a worse-than-abysmal record when it comes to arranging successful experiments marriages. I think she just needs to relax and stop worrying about what other people think. If I were married to her and couldn't get her to stop worrying about what other people think, I would end up divorcing her (but I would give it more than just 8 weeks).

Yikes, Jon and Molly better not break up, or else Jon will be homeless.  What happened between Jon and Molly?  Sounds like Molly and Jepthe should have been matched, we could have watched both of them take baby steps.

Still don't think Jaclyn should have been chosen for this show.

I still think Jepthe is a jerk, which makes Shawnice more clingy, which makes Jepthe more of a jerk and so it goes.

I think I fell asleep and missed a part of this, I'll have to catch it online or on demand, I didn't see when the guys were talking together; I did see the women out together, either I'm really tired or this show is boring.

LOL! These are not mutually exclusive. Hell, it could be you're really tired because this show is boring.

The artists most certainly do care that people in the audience are recording their concerts. That's why venues have signs warning that recording is prohibited, and why your tickets say the same thing, and why ushers will stop you if they see it.  I did laugh heartily when the asshole sitting in front of me in a Bruno Mars concert, holding his iPad in the air (in front of my face) recording the entire concert, was ejected in the first 20 minutes.   Don't let the door hit you in the ass on your way out.  Hope replaying that 20 minutes over and over again is worth the $200 you spent for the ticket.

This. Also, I don't understand why people can't have a little respect for the other people in the audience? And why are we that damned attached to our electronics? Makes me feel old, but damned if I don't miss the days when every asshole on the planet had to wait until I got home to call me on the phone. Going to a concert or movie or anything similar is the perfect excuse to turn your devices off entirely; don't let the opportunity pass you by! Personally, I get sick of having to carry the stupid thing everywhere I go. This week I'm on call, which means that anywhere I go in the house, the phone must also go. Be sure that I'm seriously tempted every now and again to drop the fucker in the toilet and pretend it was an accident. I think this is part of why my "perfect life" has become my wife and I living in the mountains, far away from the clutches of technology and the reach of the Internet, doing work that requires as little electronics as possible, and with no TV/DVR/DVD player/etc.

Talking of smart phones and concerts. I do find it incredibly difficult trying to enjoy a concert in the raw without the concert-hall awash with illuminated phones held above heads waving and weaving, recording the act rather than the owners actually watching it.

Despite warnings asking people not to use their phones during the gig, they do so anyway

I haven't been to a concert since before the advent of the smartphone. This would be annoying and might trigger me to run around and slap the damned things out of their owners' hands. Of course, I would get ejected from the concert, but I would feel better having slapped some phones out of some hands.

I use almond milk in my cereal, but I hate almonds. I hate raisins, too, for that matter. I swallow them whole like pills (all nine in one gulp) so I don't have to taste them. (The gin doesn't make them taste better.)

LOL. I love raisins and almonds, but not almond milk. Yuck. That stuff tastes horrible.

Well, that's too bad, but I do agree that the more you think about it, the more it doesn't make sense.

I keep thinking about clones. Why would they be so expensive? I would think a society with this stack technology would work on developing and perfecting clone technology. There should be many companies in the cloning business, driving down prices.

One thing this show did for me, was to make me want to read the book and it's sequels, especially since people have said it is different.

I agree that clones should be just about dirt cheap. After all, the demand for them would be both extremely high and unending. Even if I could live forever, why would I want to have to change to a body that looks different from my own every 80 to 100 years? (More often if I choose to remain young.) I can't imagine the difficulty in getting over the shock of looking in the mirror and not seeing your own face.

Also, with the well-known fact that people can be put into different bodies, why wouldn't the guys (who came looking for Kovacs in the hotel the first time) have been more willing to listen and believe that he wasn't the person they thought he was? Clearly, they're aware of that possibility and yet they refused to listen to what he was trying to tell them.

Well, even if this is true, I'm not complaining!

Though, I'm not sure I'll watch a second season of this show because I've spent enough time thinking about the things that don't make sense in this season to have sufficiently lowered my opinion of the show.

I totally agree. And it extends far beyond just Kody...I think there's some lingering resentment from her sister wives, and from Mariah, because Meri wouldn't own up to ANY of the 3 things you mentioned. Hell, even viewers might even respect her a bit more if she owned up to it, instead of STILL, after all this time, playing the "victim" of the evil catfisher. Yes, JO is an evil and dangerously disturbed person - no question about that. But Meri refuses to own up to the actions she took when she believed she was interacting with a man.

It's very difficult to forgive a person who won't admit they did anything wrong. She doesn't have to admit to "cheating", but she could at least say to her family "the conversations I had were inappropriate, they caused you to be embarrassed, and I'm sorry." But she just won't do it.

Completely agree with your post, especially the bold part. Her conversations were at least inappropriate and she should take responsibility for her part in that.

Those horrible leggings must be a thing now-there is a kiosk in my local mall that sells ugly print leggings (not Lularoe) and there are people lined up buy leggings with sparkly kittens and flying saucers on them! I agree Meri looks happy in the picture. I wish she and Kody would just call it quits. In regard to the catfish stuff: I don't agree Meri cheated ( and don't want to rehash or argue about that) but if she did and Kody agreed to still be 'married', they need to move beyond that. If your spouse cheats and you decide to stay married, you can't continue to bring it up and expect to have a happy marriage.

I honestly don't see Kody as being close to or happy with any of his wives. Janelle and Christine seem medicated to me, Meri looks depressed and Robyn seems like she is gathering up help from her family to possibly leave one day.

This requires the person who committed the transgression to be honest, admit their transgression, and take ownership of it. Meri is 0 for 3, and I can't blame Kody for not moving beyond it. Of course, if it were me, there would be much more dire consequences; I would probably have simply cut Meri loose.

  11. Well, turns out that as long as I don't think about the logical inconsistencies in this show, I enjoyed it. As soon as I start thinking about the finer details and focusing on the logical inconsistencies, I start to sour. The highlight of this show was definitely the Poe artificial intelligence character. He was both the most human and most sympathetic, and also the coolest character. Who wouldn't want to be able to control a pair of laser-sighted Gatlin guns with a thought?

FTR I don’t think Tony was the wrong one here.

Agreed. That guy sounds like a real piece of work. I mean, if you know your bank is calling and you were just in there the other day, perhaps it's a good idea to actually use the phone to talk to them? No, he'd rather make things worse by letting his mortgage continue to be in arrears and then waste lots of time by sitting in the bank waiting for things to get straightened out. Definitely sounds like a smart one to me! LOL

And it's always 100% J.O. / "Sam's" fault.   Uh... no.  Hundreds of thousands of people go on social media and into chatrooms and on message boards and play online games with people of the opposite sex and they ALWAYS have a choice of whether they are going to take things beyond a casual friendship - or not.  And the VAST majority of MARRIED folks - do not.  Of course some do.... but I don't think they then say "It was all HER/HIS fault... I was just an innocent party in this whole mess".  If Sam HAD been a real guy.... THEN what?  Then is Meri guilty of an emotional affair?  But because she didn't know it was a guy and J.O. is one sick dillwad... there is NO culpability?  That's not how it works, although that is the road Meri has taken.  She is 100% victim... and the other wives and Kody know this isn't true.

I would argue that Meri was guilty of an emotional affair even though Sam turned out to be fakery put on by a woman. After all, Sam was real in Meri's mind until Jackie Overton revealed the lie. Importantly, as Lee Atwater noted in the 80's, "perception is reality". I was catfished years ago (circa 2000) - before it was even called "catfishing" - by someone I had met playing EverQuest. It wasn't a romantic relationship or anything; just "friends", but it was a man pretending to be a woman. It was easier for them to pretend to be a woman since there wasn't voice chat in the game at the time. The fact remains that until his soon-to-be ex-wife pulled his chat logs and informed me of the deception, this person was a woman in my mind. When the deception was revealed, I was left speechless for about five minutes. It took some time for me to even respond to the real woman (yes, the man was pretending to be his soon-to-be ex-wife in the game, to add to the mind-fuckery).

It really is bracing.  Maybe it's just the fact that so much time passed between the events we're seeing and when the THs were taped.  But, at least with Mykelti, to me it goes beyond "wow,s he gained weight".  She looks almost bloated.  It really looks like her face is getting ready to explode.  Tony, to me, looks like a more traditional fat fuck who's just continued to get bigger.

Yes! This. That's exactly right. She does look bloated.

Your other points about the wedding and reception were interesting, especially as they pertain to the venue itself. One of my brothers-in-laws' friends has a degree in, and works as, a greens manager (or whatever they're called). He would be ticked to have people tramping all over the green like that.

Ditto with Tony.  I am not kidding - not being snarky - when they were doing talking heads Tony looked like he has gained at LEAST 50 pounds.

I'll be interested to have a look at them both more fully. I suppose neither of them knows how to cook, which means they're probably buying the frozen, processed foods (like EnCor meals) and a lot of fast food. The amount of salt and fat in frozen foods is enough to strike a person dumb the first time they stop to really read the ingredients. It's no wonder this nation is getting so fat. (That's not to say you can't get fat on home-cooked meals, of course, because you can.)

Checking in here for the first time in quite a while, so forgive if I repeat an already-discussed ad, but does anyone think that the wheel of fortune-style KFC Colonel selector is driving business in the door?  I'm so totally annoyed by that whole campaign that I have vowed to never utter their name let alone patronize that grease laden place.

p.s.:  Didn't think they could scrape the barrel lower than the Norm MacDonald iteration, but yeah, Reba tops ...er bottoms it.

Honestly, the only thing that keeps me from going to KFC more than about 3x per year is the fact that both of the closest ones to me are each an hour away in different directions. If there was a closer one to me than that, I'd be eating KFC a lot more often. Their commercials have absolutely zero impact on whether I patronize them. heh

I just saw the stupid Boost Mobile commercial last night where the lady pretends she's Oprah and repeatedly says "You get a line". I completely agree with a previous poster that it makes it sound like she's handing out cocaine - even in spite of knowing she's in a phone store. That's a horrible commercial and Boost should reprimand their ad agency.

  20. I haven't gotten to watch this episode, yet. I will this weekend. However, I did see a little bit of Mykelti in her dress doing a talking head (maybe it was in a preview for next week?) and I was shocked at how much weight she's gained. She hardly looks like herself in her face anymore.

Mykelti doesn't care about anyone's welfare, she told them to "suck it up". Robyn looked positively pissed and I don't blame her--also, those "heaters" they got don't work well unless you're right under them

I was thinking more of a kerosene heater, like some of these: https://www.google.com/search?q=kerosene+heater&rlz=1C1GGRV_enUS751US751&tbm=isch&source=lnms&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwjs3f_QpaPZAhXh8YMKHXWjArkQ_AUI8gIoAQ&biw=1280&bih=590. I've used another style that's basically a pot with a chimney, into which you put kerosene or fuel oil and light it. That style comes with the downside of a hint of open flame at the top of the chimney, though. The pictured heaters would be much safer.

  22. My wife and I got to watch this last night. Wow. She was gobsmacked by how Dmitri and Ashley had agreed-upon rules and then Dmitri completely ignores the agreement. Her first reaction is that it was a complete lack of willpower on his part in sleeping with Jocelyn the first night. I disagreed, fairly vehemently. My take is that it's just complete disregard and lack of respect for Ashley because, to my mind, their agreement that he not sleep with prospective sister wife until after they're all three committed is no different from his agreement not to sleep with random women. I mean, what he did is exactly the same as cheating on his wife; it just so happens he did it with someone that might otherwise have joined their family. To me, that's really not any different from just banging anyone that you want to other than your spouse. As far as I'm concerned, that's not a failure of willpower since:

    1. he's not otherwise running around having sex with women who are not Ashley,
    2. you don't "accidentally" have sex with someone (anyone!)
    3. because of #2, there's a lot of thought and planning that went into ditching the camera crew, going to her hotel room, and choosing to have sex with Jocelyn.

He had lots of opportunities to change his mind while executing the steps outlined (explicitly and implicitly) in that third point. Even up to the point of them both being naked, he could have said "I have an agreement with Ashley not to have sex with you until after there's a commitment. I have to go."

As for Vanessa's supposed pregnancy, why hasn't she taken a home pregnancy test? Don't they have Walgreens, CVS, Wal-Mart, Target or other such stores in Utah? And why was she previously walking around with her hand on her stomach and posturing like she's six or seven months along when she's only just now three months at best?!?

When it comes to the Briney women, here's an idea how you can improve your relationships: Let bygones be bygones and start fresh. Be open to communicating with each other, especially when there's miscommunication. And start trusting that the others are saying what they mean, and ask for clarification when it's needed. Swear to God, I would not be able to stand having to be the kindergarten teacher ("husband") for those three harpies. I'd end up laying down the law similar to what I've already written and people are going to comply or find themselves out of favor and dealing with my displeasure.
