  1. I already like Malena and Jalyn.

We are going to get so much VK this season. They gave her a long (the 1st of mamy segments) before the 3 min. mark. After Cassie, I'm confused as why they think this heavy-handed edit will go over well.

So far, Dayton has been treated fairly.

I AM SO HAPPY THEY HAVE NICK FLORES AS A JUDGE. Every other judge is over 50. He's young and a trained dancer.

I don't think those are the votes to get into TC, I think they are the votes for Show Group.

No those are the TC votes.  They don't have 15 judges for SG and we see those photos with numbers long before SG auditions.

I thought we always knew the team before the show started.

Agreed. I've been watching since the first Vivian season (5 or 6?). I'm fairly certain that the team is always announced prior.

This may be part of the something different we've been asking for.

And this would not have happened with Jenna as the group leader. Just because you are a good dancer does not make you a good leader or point girl.

I don't understand this. Not meaning to be uncivil. How does Jenna have anything to do with the performance of Kashara's group?

I think that unfortunately some people blame KaShara for Jenna losing point.

I think I'm Jenna's most vocal supporter on this forum. I CERTAINLY DON'T BLAME KASHARA FOR ANYTHING. As I've said, many times Jenna created her own situation.

This is what I blame Kashara for

    • Her own lack of pop. That's subjective, so we'll never agree on that.
    • Being outdanced last year consistently by Jenna, Maggie, Cersten, and Robin. And at times Lacey, Stephanie, Maddie, and Amy
    • For most of the cuts coming from her group last year
    • For her group being so weak their performances were rarely ever posted to social media.
    • That lackluster Oxnard performance.

Jenna lost her spot based on her own job performance (not following rules).

I will continue to judge Kashara based on my opinion of KASHARA'S job performance.

Last year, I thought that the groups were lopsided in terms of dance ability and showmanship

Alternate view (I'm full of them).

    • The group leader and asst.  teach their group the dance and help clean up the individual performances. (FACT)
    • Teaching is not easy. Just because you can do it, doesn't mean you can instruct someone how to do it.
    • If a group is losing girls it could be due to poor instruction.
    • If the group leader doesn't have "that pop", she most likely won't be able to help someone else attain it.
    • You can't get blood from a turnip.

The groups always seem to be pretty balanced before. The difference last year was in the experience of the leaders. For example, Jenna was in her 3rd year of leadership (2nd year as main leader). Kash was never a 2nd. I believe that is ALSO a plausible explanation for the group's disparity in performance.

As a manager, if your group is struggling, you need to take ownership of it. Weak leaders blame the team.

It will be interesting how this year shakes out, GroupWise.

  7. This probably won't be covered on the show, but we will be able to tell from social media.

I want to see which of the 2nd years really bring it. As rookies, they are always in the back and I can't tell who's strong.

I'm not into judging anyone on looks(it's 2018). But there several TCC's that really aren't anywhere close to "the look." Therefore, I'm assuming they are real dancing divas. That makes me excited.

I was just sitting here dreaming.  Wouldn't it be awesome if instead of the normal Kelli reveal, they just started the final episode of the season with a talking head of her telling us that she is going to introduce us to the team one by one?  Then we get a whole episode of each vet and each rookie that makes it with a one minute montage of backstory, try outs, solos, got each DCC?

Love this. After 13 years, the series could use a refresh. All GREAT reality shows keep their format evolving. Examples that do it well are Project Runway and Master Chef.

True! And there's a video for that poster....

I am so happy you posted this. As soon as I saw today's post, I thought of Group 1 from last year. This is literally my favorite sideline routine ever. The choreography is so crisp and fits the music perfectly. Great job Sarah G.

With that said, Jenna slayed the f@$& out that routine. Sorry Kash (and I'm not a hater), but you got served. The triangle of Jenna. Stephanie, and Amy looked much better than Kash, Lacey, and Maddie. I really was expecting more of them. In fact last year's group one looks better than this year's show group.

The departure of sooo many really great dancers (Jenna, Holly, Erica, Cersten, Maggie, & Robin) have left this team without ladies who have that sparkle. I really hope this rookie class brings it, because if this is the best the vets have they are in trouble.

This may be a one off, so I'll eagerly await other videos.

In case there is any ambiguity, I think Kashara is the worst point I've seen. She's nice and pretty, but just an average DCC. That's why they pushed her so hard last year, they know she's weak. Rewatching last year's episodes, Kashara's dancing was not praised once-not by Kitty, the alumni, or any guest choreographer. In fact, in the original formation for Canton, she was in the back row. Draw your own conclusions. I am just still perplexed by the tremendous leap forward.

Needless to say, this is just my unsolicited opinion.

Last cut made was Taylor t

It's getting late in TC, and I'm impatient. With the season premiere next week, I would expect them to announce the team soon.

I hope we get a squad larger than 36.

Ok. At least Malena is still there.

Who got cut? Or at least let's make a list of who it's not. I'm too lazy to do any sleuthing, so Malena will have to be my contribution.

    Y'all, get to work.

@hypeman- are you in the industry? Do you dance, teach choreograph?

Definitely not. I have taken ballet classes and done many years of hip hop classes. I have no technical dance knowledge. I just comment on what I thinks looks good. That's why you'll never hear me critique anyone's technique.

Just to add, I really appreciate the dance critiques from dance professionals and trained dancers.??

  13. I've struggled morally with the show, pro cheerleading, and with this board. Chiefly, because BEING PRETTY IS NOT A CHARACTER TRAIT.  It is a genetic blessing (or a good surgeon). If a woman is of average looks or has an ounce of fat, she doesn't need to be banished.

Dayton is certainly very pretty, with a unique look. I don't care. They have cut absolutely stunning ladies. I have never seen Dayton dance, so I have ZERO information on whether her cut was justified. The argument that she is sooo pretty is just weak to me.

I am definitely not anti-Dayton. She seems like a lovely, well-rounded young lady. I wish her well and hope she re-auditions, if that is her goal.

I'll be interested to hear what Judy has to say. IMHO Judy focuses on the dancing, and not all the other BS. If she's doubtful of Dayton, I'll accept it regardless of her edit.

Victoria shared with another TCC that Kelli already told her mom that she'll make the squad.

For real though, after 3 weeks, they should already know who is on the bubble. So not really surprised that Kellie would say she would make the squad.

I CANNOT believe that I am actually defending VK. Miracles happen everyday.

Ugh - Brennan is just not photogenic at all (and she’s just so whiney and meek).  No idea why they took her in TC again and my guess probably are going to give her a spot on the team just like Christina.  She just doesn’t seem like DCC material to me.

I don't see how Brennan could be doing something more than in previous years. The show is heavy propaganda for DCC. The legend doesn't exist if you don't have girls try out multiple years, and just missing the mark. Ladies like Courtney, Amy Simone, Meagan F, and Kendall are a great reason to watch the show.

More often than not they don't make the squad. It feels like manipulation to me.

I definitely think that only Christianity is encouraged, though. I bet they would not take a candidate who posted verses from the Qa’ran or heaven forbid (no pun intended) spoke out about being an atheist. It’s all about their “brand”. And with “preserving the brand” comes discrimination based on a variety of things I doubt they’d ever admit to.

This 1000%. I never realized how conservative the NFL (and by extension the cheerleaders) is as an organization. I feel like this is the actual reason for the low pay for cheerleaders. The attitude seems to be, women dance at the games for fun, therefore don't deserve to be paid.

Nothing about the DCC organization is ground breaking or empowering to women (sorry Kellie). Someone called it a cult. I'm beginning to agree. The immediate and shady responses to the lawsuit were hilarious. Man has not created an organization that does not have flaws.

It is actually easier to find out what happens at a secret NFL Owners meeting or a closed White House staff meeting, than pro cheerleaders' compensation. I find that so strange. Why all the secrecy?

??? I admit I was also a little critical of Tasha her TCC/rookie year. But I think she's adorable now - I think she probably always was adorable, and I was just being judgmental.

Once I was bored and looked at past season's boards. People were really ragging on rookies that went on to be generally adored and dancing standouts. I think our first impressions are so lasting. It's really all about the edit. Tasha was sort of pushed on us her season, with her soppy backstory. I always try to remember that the ladies are basically instructed what to say in those montages.

I love Khalyn!  Since Kelsey is gone (and she was my fave besides KaShara) Can you see my "K" fixation?? (yes I was a Keyra fan as well )

You had me on everyone, except Kashara. I have an irrational dislike of her (she has done absolutely nothing wrong) due to her BEST-EVER edit from last season. It was almost gone, but has come back with a vengeance. Lord, help me if she's pushed again this year.

Agree with everything you said . . . except the guest choreographers. I feel like K and J comments are spliced in, and possibly taken from other times. Basically, I don't trust the show to be an accurate portrayal of what happens. I believe they just edit to justify their decisions. (Personal opinion. Not fact-based. Just a feeling.)

I feel like the comments made by a trained professional, who was there all night and with no personal agenda, gives a better insight. Also, the choreography has been improved in recent years. Could you imagine Judy making a hip hop routine? I can't.

Erica was cut due to sneaking out of the locker room during the time the vets were at Canton for the HOF after being told to stay in the locker room. She went to the bleachers and took pictures of herself with a drink and sent them to a few of her fellow DCCs. Jenna allegedly ratted her out to save her bacon to Kelli and Judy. Her cut scene was not shown. She did have shoulder surgery earlier this year. I thought someone stated they were thinking of making her an All-Star due to her injury and not being able to practice or perform with the team.

You left out one important detail. Erica posted a pic of her drinking during the game to social media. How does Jenna get involved in this? Lots of DCC and alumni follow her, not to mention management.

(My personal, unsubstantiated belief is that Kashara had something to do with the Jenna/Holly/Erica debacle. It would explain why she profited so greatly from the situation.)

With that said, when this happened I felt like this was not a simple flaunting of the rules. I believed then, as I do now, that Erica was already pissed about something. She took a crap, and rubbed their faces in it.

What happened to the "we don't know everything crowd?"

I know general consensus is that Madeline won't get more of a prime spot in the formation... but I hope she does. She's cute as a button, is a fantastic dancer and is very charming.  Jenna was definitely NO glamazon and wasn't even the strongest dancer ... but she made point.  So if Jenna can get it ... Maddie isn't such a reach in the triangle. JMO....

Humbly disagree about Jenna. That girl's dancing was FIRE. I think the general consensus was that she was hands down point until she behaved (not danced) it away. I don't want to restart a Jenna thread.

With that said, I'd be happy with Maddie at point. I ALWAYS believe point should go to the best dancer.

I think Maddie will move into Cersten's spot or into the triangle.
