I guess there are several points that could be developed into a good story but get lost in the writer's mess. Aunt Lydia could be having PTSD and her reactions could be the frustration she feels, maybe some guilty for training handmaids to be raped. Something could be developed from there but will probably be forgotten after the next slow motion long walk.

And was it just me or did Aunt Lydia totally expect to be invited into the drawing room only to be directed to the back with the others?

I know. Just walking up and talking to him, like she wouldn't get into trouble for it. He's also her former rapist - wtf? I suppose she's sucking up to him, but calling him merciful was really the icing on the cake. She had the perfect excuse to not talk to him: she "belongs" to someone else now. And his looking concerned when Lawrence wanted her to get him a book, was stupid - he used to do the same thing to her. It may not have been among others, but he still did it. He was playing with her, just like Lawrence.

And, in both instances I was waiting for them to call her out for "reading" the titles of the books she was fetching and punish her severely.  Although that could have been the point too -- show her how meriful they were by allowing her the illegal pleasure of reading.

There are complicated reasons why victims stay and return to abusers. Phil  should have been encouraging her to leave that dude-not try to fix him. He plainly said he would kill her and I have no doubt that he will.

Since this show originally aired in 2018 this is yet another instance where a follow-up show would be helpful.  Is she still alive?  Is he on death row?  Inquiring minds want to know!

The only thing I'm grateful for is the spoilers of the Dothraki going on a rape rampage were false.

But wasn't that a Dothraki dragging a woman into an alleyway for nefarious purposes when Jon comes upon them and kills him?

One thing keeps bugging me about all this.  She had access to the internet and was or became savvy enough to use it.  She could have texted the neighbor girl and told her she could and will walk out of the house if she would help her.  She could have told her so much.  She knew other people didn't live this way.  She could have even said her mother threatened her that she, Gypsy, would go to jail as well if she told.  The only thing I can think is that she thought only a man could help her and give her the fairy tale life she wanted.  Hell, I don't know.  I'm still torn about all of this.

Fairly tale life?  I burst out laughing when after the murder and the slam, bam, thank you ma'am, totally awful, unsatisfying looking sex, Nick is all pleased, looks at her and says "welcome to the rest of your life!"

Wow! Hoda is a real piece of work !  Meredith goes to her home to visit the new baby and Hoda just leaves the room and tells her the baby is taking a nap, and doesn’t say good bye , no “thanks for coming “, she just walks out of the room and that’s it?

Then Jenna shares that Hoda goes to parties with friends and leaves without telling them, and at times if someone leaves something in her car she texts them later and tells them to come to her apartment to pick up there belongings?

WTF kind of social skills does Hoda have? How rude and ignorant is Hoda ?

I thought she went to parties by herself and just slipped out when she told her stories . But now we find out she just leaves her so called friends and doesn’t let them know she’s leaving , even if she drives them to an event?

The more I know about Hoda the less I like her . Not only is she not too bright, but she is a self absorbed person with no social skills .

For whatever reason, it's called "the Irish Goodbye" (something to do with funerals, I believe???), and she's talked about how this is something she just does to avoid awkwardness.  Doesn't make it right.

I know a number of regular JJ watchers skip the dog cases, and the one presented today is particularly nasty.  However, you will miss a fine specimen of ratchetness in defendant and pit bull owner Ms Angela Zamora.  Angela lives with her dad and hasn't worked in the last 2 years.  In her 37 years of life, she lost half of her teeth somewhere (Meth Land?) and half of those are broken.  She looks like a reincarnated witch who woke up in a hobo camp, stopped by the cut-rate tattoo parlor and got the special, which includes chest and sleeve tats.

When it became clear that she was losing the case, she turned on the fake tears and rambled for a few minutes about her pooch being a sweetheart before JJ kicked her out.

That is what you call a skank.  37?  Really???  And she accuses the Plaintiff of asking for "favors" in return for the vet bills??!!?  UGH.   Funny that the Plaintiff muttered that he wouldn't touch that with gloves on!

  8. So please refresh my memory, is AAA supposed to be an American action star or a British one?  Because he can't carry an American accent to save his life and not many Americans say "bloody" all the time!

That being said, it really IS getting much better.  The characters are so nuanced......

  9. You really need to listen to the Root of Evil podcast.  Once you get over how Hollywood "hollywooded" the story far from the truth, it is horrifyingly fascinating.  That that bastard Dr. Hodel was able to die very peacefully at 91 is a travesty.

I was simultaneously horrified and fascinated by this show.

I am fascinated with all things Dr. PP and thought I'd give this one a go too.  Can't do it.  I think the difference for me is that while both are grossly awesome, those procedures on the feet just LOOK so painful and awful, before, during and, especially in my dreams, after.

I've often wondered myself if Leonard's siblings have the same resentment to Beverly that he has.

I don't think so -- it has been established that Beverly thinks her other two children are superior to Leonard in their careers and general overall intelligence and worthiness.....

  12. I've got a book for Jenna's book club, but it's not new, and I wonder if she (or anyone else for that matter) has the guts to suggest it:  Atlas Shrugged by Ayn Rand.  Prescient and horrifying, it closely mirrors what our "leaders" are attempting to cause to happen in this country RIGHT NOW.  Thoughts?

Erik’s mom is about as bad as he is. She self-righteously proclaimed that SHE would have seen the signs that Erik is a liar.  You raised him, you harpy! And now you let your precious little sociopath sleep in your basement or whatever.

I was glad that Phil smacked her down.

This was interesting for me to watch because my brother is an Erik.   Their ability to keep all their lies going (and keeping them straight) is an amazing accomplishment at the very least.  That they leave utter waste and sadness and destruction in their wake is something I know well.  His poor ex-wife and kids, the crap he put them through.  That being said, until my brother straight out told me that 90% of EVERYTHING he has EVER said to me was a lie, I believed the more mundane stuff, and know that there is NO WAY the mother would have seen any signs.  90% of everything.  That's when the light finally went on and now I have absolutely no contact with him whatsoever.  Just like the ex-wife and kids don't either.  The whole thing is heartbreaking for all of us, but we're all happier for it.  Just because they're family makes it harder to do and the guilt is unbelievable, but it is absolutely necessary.

  14. Funny how it was so important for Craig Melvin to put up a picture of his WIFE's cheese tray totally taking the time away from the poor woman who was there to actually SHOW how to make hers, which have garnered much social media interest, so much that time ran out and we were left with only a salami river.....

That was his gift to the poor wife as he leaves her and the kids for Super Bowl week-end.....

  15. OK.   Perhaps starting a firestorm here.    Was listening to Megan when it happened and watched it several times since.  In no way do I believe that she was EVER condoning blackface.  She was just stating a fact that when she was young, on Halloween young people dressed up as all kinds of things and might have worn makeup to make their costume more realistic.  That was it.  Of course now in retrospect that practice was wrong, but she was not being malicious at all.  Because of the current super-sensitive pearl clutching atmosphere today, they might as well make Halloween an obsolete holiday.   It was just an excuse to get rid of her and I think she just might have a very good wrongful termination suit building.  She'll certainly have the money to pay for it!

Just as some icing on this educational cake, I heard the news anchorman today refer to "IN-stah-bull" as a city in Turkey.

More of this:  An anchorman reporting on an accident involving a cattle trailer on an interstate proudly stated that he heard that the cows' names were Black and Gus.  Seriously.  He was very pretty.

The only thing Phil wants to hear is “It’s always the mothers fault-I’m a terrible mother.” I think today’s mother is well spoken and I believe she has done everything she could to help her daughter. Phil badgering the moms and coddling the out of control kids is all he is interested in.

Phil is totally out of touch with reality.   The reality of a mother who doesn't have the resources to send their kids to a "camp", and needs to put food on the table and clothes on that ungrateful bitch's back.   I really don't know how parents today deal with these entitled dregs on society.  I'd be in jail for sure and any surviving kid I had left would be on the streets wondering why the rest of the world didn't realize how special they were and take care of them in they way they believe they deserve (for some reason).

  18. I just really hope that they don't turn this into another in your face political commentary where it's the haves vs. the have nots, welfare state vs. provider mentality, democratic leaning vs. republican leaning, make the sanctuary great again type of thing.  That would totally take me out.  It's already in our faces enough ALL DAY LONG.  I need my TV to escape, please.  Show us something positive.  If that is at all possible.  Thank you!

I was cringing and having some major second hand embarrassment when hoda mentioned the birthday girl only to be told it’s a birthday boy. I know first hand how horrifying it is as a kid to be mistaken for another gender (special thanks to my mom who chopped my hair off and made me look like a boy in second grade, I’m atill recovering)

The birthday hat his parents made him wear did him no favors!

You mean the physics of the girl who we abruptly and suddenly learned was being poisoned and an invalid killing someone her own size, pulling teeth, and transporting the bodies?  Which is it, show?  I agree, the “physics” research is dumb.

Seriously.   With a medical file that size and scars from FEEDING tubes for cripes sake, how did she function or have any strength at all? See seemed too "normal" for someone that sick!
